  • I have this truck (2011 version) with 3 speed, new pipe and metel spur gear + upgraded all the stock gears to stronger ones. Now it's truly a MONSTER! I recomemd however up grading spur gear to metal... Superb Vid :-)

  • @MFizzle777 Thank you ! and those are some great mods.. not sure if i could use the 3 speed because my homemade track is a very short track that i barley get out of first in. but 3 speed is cool. If you wanna check it out on another savage video i show what my truck looks like now. not many upgrades just HB wheels, battery pack, HPI aluminum pipe and more to come hopfully.

  • Hey are you on FB' or twr", also i wanna say thanks for the idea on the springs,,They came in the mail an boy my truck is standing TALL now..! Ur"e the best.!!

  • @yuri5675 no problem man glad i could help !! yeah im on facebook

    h t t p :/ /w w w . f a c e book. co m/k o d y k l h just clear the spaces since youtube doesnt allow links.. copy-paste-delete beteween spaces and hopfully that works

  • Yea i got the idea from your video...and decide I'll do the same...thanks pal..

  • @yuri5675 no problem, it works good and even since ive installed them my suspension still has no sag what so ever and absorbs really nicely.

  • @1994toyotasupra also i feel like making a new video.. lemme know what you think i should do it on ? i have a traxxas jato to not sure if i should do a video on that or maybe try to get footage of the savage at my track

  • Also to let u know, I ordered a pair of jato 3.3 springs for the truck..Cuz the front is lagging..its not standing level as before..

  • @yuri5675 ahhh ok cool, yeah youll notice it brings your truck back up. are you using it on the front or rear ? cuz the work great on the rears i think the front it may make it alittle stif but what i did was tae the secondary springs off of the rears replaced them with the jato springs and then put the rear secondary springs onto the fronts and it helped abit.

  • Hey, I bought the after run oil,I wanna know if I have to start the truck after dropping 3-4 oil in the glow plug hole to lubricate the engine?

  • @yuri5675 Its usually good to just drop it in when your done driving for the day. Like forinstance when your done for the day. clear your lines from the fuel and then take your glow plug out and drop about 2-3 drops of your after run oil into your engine and then crank it over a few times while the plug is out. and the oil will be circulated around the sleeve and crank etc. Then you can let your truck sit until your ready to drive. also a drop in the carb helps lube the crank directly. goodluck!

  • hey man i only driven it 4 times now its hard starting..i didnt use after run oil..cause i thought why would hpi sell a RTR truck and didn't included it?, maybe its not a big deal for now..also i didn't had the time lately to play with it lately..i put fuel in the tank cause i thought i'd had the time but i had to go out ..so it sat there with it n i guess its the reason why its not starting...

  • @yuri5675 How long has your gas been sitting in the tank ?? Your fuel may have gummed up in the lines and its not able to start.... also.. if you go to your local auto shop or hardwear shop... 3n1 oil is amazing stuff.. it really is healthy on your engine.. just 2 to 3 drops of oil in the glow plug hole after your done for the day really helps.. also.. its good to make sure the piston is bottom dead center when your done. and the easiest way to do so is make a mark on the flywheel at BDC...

  • @1994toyotasupra and then with that mark on the flywheel when ever you let it sit for the night you can just turn the flywheel by hand until you see the mark and youll know your at BDC... the reason for this is because the sleeve is tapered so when the piston gets to the top of the sleeve it gains compresson.. when your engine sits with the piston up top it can wear out that taper and lower your compression over time.

  • hey bro' thanks for checking out my video's an for the ideas. Anyway are you still using the glow ignitor that came with it?

  • @yuri5675 no problem !! nah the one it came with the battery was leaking acid.. fortunately i had 2 other igniters fro previous trucks.

  • get a new glow igniter. same thing happened to me and resolved with a new igniter.

  • @787smoke i already had 2 other igniters besides this one in my box i was just saying what the truck does and doesnt come with for other buyers to beware what they need to buy. I personally think that igniter was crap compared to my others .. the battery literally started leaking acid all over the inside and i just tossed it. but for those that dont have extras this one will do the job for a short while but they will need extra batteries because of how crappy the quality is.

  • hey i got the savage for christmas,,it really is an amazing truck...i ran it a few times but it is not starting.!! i took out the glow plug and test it with the ignitor but its not getting red or hot..and i tryed 2 glow plugs an still nothing...i thought its the battery in it but its not..what do u think

  • my spur gear melted

  • @CLENCHEDCURVE74 ohhh no.. have you changed the spur gear or before or did this happen out of the box ? because HPI on the new savage trucks kind of had an issue with gear mesh. Basically in another video callede " savage x 4.6 updat " i talk about how the gear mesh out the box was only in contact with half of the spur gear and that cuts the gears life in half. when you get your new one.. you can either get a steel one witch i plan on getting when mine gets stripped. But what exactly happened ?

  • @1994toyotasupra well what happend is i got my savage x 4.6 when i was like 10 and i ran it like 6 times and put it away and i havent ran it for like 5 years and yesterday i was driving it really hard with the stock gear and i was driving up my street and it just striped out. so i got another one put it on and drove it up and down the street and i noticed wear on the spur gear i didnt think anything of it and sure enough it striped so i think its my gear mesh but im not sure

  • @CLENCHEDCURVE74 yeah its most likely your mesh was alittle off.. you wanna make it so the gear mesh is like just a small small ticking sound when you hold the engine clutch bell gear and move the spur gear back n forth.. you dont want it to move to much and you dont want it to be too tight because then youll wear out the gears and even over heat your engine.

  • @1994toyotasupra ya i changed the mesh and that was it but now my pull starter broke so now its down to the hobby store

  • @CLENCHEDCURVE74 ohh man... not the best lucky lately. once you get that replaced im sure youll be good.

  • @CLENCHEDCURVE74 actually sorry thats the wrong video, i cant seem to find it. i thought i uploded it but i guess not. you can message me or justcomment on here if you need help

  • Hey bro" i am thinking about buying the T-tmaxx 3.3 but i"ll like to get some insite first before i buy it... what do u think about the Savage -X 4.6? do u think its better than the T-maxx 3.3?

  • @yuri5675 I cant really say the savage is better than the t maxx 3.3 but it IS tougher. the arms and all plastic parts are thick and flexable enough so they wont break. Ive landed this thing from about 10 feet up down to the nose and not one thing cracked.. the toughness is its key advantage over any other MT. Also, the power plant is amazing.. its sooooo powerful and yanks this truck around like nothing. after a good tune its a very fast truck. the t maxx also is pretty fast though. and fun.

  • @yuri5675 the t-maxx doesnt really have nearly as much suspension travel as the savage. but the t maxx is still a very fun truck. ive owned a t maxx before and i must say i would lean further to the savage x 4.6 side. its got more travel.. more power. tougher.. and the quality of every thing is soooo soo nice on HPI. they locktight the back plate on the pullstart so there is no longer anyissues with that.. and motor mounts are locktite aswell. so everything isnt going to come loose. A+++ truck

  • Use a small ziptie around the hose for the exaust

  • @YOURMOMxo69xo i tried but this hose is kind of hard so when i tighten it on the hose it still isnt like snug on the tip.. But since this time of the year isnt dusty im not worrying about it, it doesnt seem to get the truck dirty anymore since the dirt is moist and soft. just perfect for now.

  • t maxx or this?

  • @CrazyPotatoFTW THIS !!!! haha i could do a video maybe of twe 2

  • Smart choice buddy. This is coming from someone who owned two T-Maxx trucks. I know exactly where you are coming from. I will never go back. I own 2 Savage X 4.6 trucks and 1 of my T-Maxx trucks. Anytime I play, my Savages always come with me but not always my T-Maxx. Check out my page and subscribe.

  • @Discmystro1977 thanks alot.. i really enjoy the truck so far.. im gonna do an update video of the truck soon and show em off.. so far.. hot bodies slayer wheels , nimh battery hump pack, 250 oz steering servo, HPI racing tuned pipe. and soon to be more ! ahha but right now im focusing on a mini right now i wanna have something to play around in the house .. or get a summit for snow or something .. i really love this truck. ill sub to you and keep you updated on my truck!!! sub !!!

  • nice vid i payed £20 for battery level indicator good to have with the hpi plazma hump pack so you no exactly when to charge modelsport uk

  • @MrConker2001 yeah i just got my battery pack i really want to get the indicator and an upgraded servo

  • yeah they look nice, fortunately i have a charger that charges it in a few mins so its not that hard to do it i also just used the side port for the charge connector so i dont have to take off the battery lid so i guess charging it doesnt hurt at all really.

  • nice vid m8, ive gotta get me one of those GT3 shells for mine... they are sweet

  • @wiggygfe Thanks alot, yeah they really did a great job on the whole paint scheme and its really nice quality. unfortunately now its scratched up lol but i will buy another body to keep it looking fresh.. i love those bodies.. i love the truck alot. just ordered a battery pack along with hotbodies wheels so im excited to get those mounted and the battery pack is a must for any rc to save you dough on batteries.

  • @1994toyotasupra yep ive got a hump pack in mine, HPI Plazma 1600Mah, im also using rechargeables in my transmitter... saves a lot of money in buying batteries

I bought my truck 2nd hand but its in really nice condition, i got it off Modelport forum

  • @wiggygfe same here its just mines charge wont last as long as yours.. mines 1400 MAH but i got it for like 14 bucks bran new so it works i guess. and i have some rechargable AA's for the radio and yeah they same a ton. i think next thing is battery indicator and ill be happy with the truck.

  • @1994toyotasupra i was thinking of getting a battery level indicator but they are a bit expensive for what they are, im from the UK and they are £23 ($36)

  • @wiggygfe on ebay you can get them for half that.. i think you can get them on ebay for about 24$ or so.

  • @1994toyotasupra i couldn't find them for that price but even then i have to pay shipping to the UK... I suppose if you charge you hump pack regularly you dont really need one... they look good though on the side of the truck :)

  • Nice I'm deff gona buy this I just keep breaking my maxx mostly the axles and drive shafts just keep on hearing bout the durability which OS making me buy it and the big block of course

  • Have u driven it yet cause I have a t maxx but am selling it to get this exact truck I hear the durability is outrages

  • @foxracinguy19932 Yes ive been driven it very often and I love t maxx and traxxas but the quality is this truck in my opinion surpasses the craftsmen ship of the t maxx.. everything about this truck is amazing. The arms .. are as thick as the RPM upgrade arms for the t maxx. and its amazing on gas... its got a huge tank and a full tank lasts me along time. Just yesterday i took it off a nice sized jump landed on the nose perfectly vertical and didnt crack or bend a thing.
