nothing prettier than a 4010 and a 4020.. also 4320 and 4430.. some of my favorite tractors.. if youve grew up on a farm with these tractors around you can agree.
Stats directly taken from Nebraska Test Facility: 4020's were NEVER rated at 98Hp - ever! 1963 JD 4020 gas burners were around 88Hp. Later 1966 4020 gas burners (with bigger engines) pushed 96Hp. 1963 4020 LP gas were around 90Hp. Early (1963) JD 4020 diesels were around 91Hp. Mid-build (1965-1968) diesels were around 95Hp. Late (1969-up) 4020 diesels pushed 96Hp, especially those that were Power-Shifts, as they were turned up a little to make up for the power-robbing Power-Shift trans.
@SMiller5488 ....I'd rate the 4020 and the 856 about equal.
Way ahead of the 1100 Massey Ferguson or the 8000 Ford. The Ford had a little more hp but they just wouldn't take the years of punishment the green ones and red ones would take!
@MultiBaldEagle: That's just not true. I owned a 1966 4020 w/M&W turbo and a 1973 MF 1105 turbo, and I still own a 1972 Ford 8000 naturally-aspirated (non-turbo). All were/are great tractors and worked fine. I liked my 4020 the best, but that's because I'm biased a little to JD since that's what I grew up with. Fact is, my 4020 was worth about 50% more than my Ford, so down the road it had to go, in order to pay some bills. Plus, the 8000 will do everything (and a little more) than the 4020.
iI like to see pulls that despite the outcome, it has been "tuned" for the track weight wise which you have it about right. I like to see a little more dance sooner but you get one chance to get it right
I was just going through tractor pullin' videos and all of a sudden I hear my brothers name ...that is so cool...thanks! This is his "just for fun" farm tractor, he has another tractor,JD 6030, that he ,my mom and cousin pull in Illinois with the Illinois Stock Pullers Association
@retard38756: You need to get your facts straight. 4020's were NEVER rated at 98Hp - ever! 1963 JD 4020 gas burners were around 88Hp. Later 1966 4020 gas burners (with bigger engines) pushed 96Hp. 1963 4020 LP gas were around 90Hp. Early (1963) JD 4020 diesels were around 91Hp. Mid-build (1965-1968) diesels were around 95Hp. @rmpruitt: You would be spot-on with your Hp estimates IF it had a TURBO. With the fuel turned up, It's likely pushing around 100Hp, and not any more. I had a 1966 4020 with an M&W turbo. It was pushing 115Hp with the fuel properly turned up to match the added intake air provided by the turbo.

I assure you it isn't over 105hp! I have seen way to many, 92hp stock on the dyno. A 806 will beat a 4020 up. Nice tractors though

@SMiller5488: Probably true. 4020's still rule!

120hp aint tht much, 4020's were only rated at 98hp, factory, they were built like tanks tho

johndeeregreen4life1 3 years ago
Well, I would say around 100-115. It doesn't have a turbo but the fuel has been turned up. Maybe 120 at the most!
rmpruitt 3 years ago
yes it has 120hp i talked to him at celestine..he has the fuel screw tweked up guite a bit for smoke but not much more power

@superturbodiesel You realize that a 4020 with a turbo is just a 4320... well if you want to get technical the 4320 came with a factory turbo
