  • Hey!! I've a problem :( Why when I try tu load a texture I see the object black? I've the Darkshader and adobe illustrator.

  • my dark basi say i need new directx when i do and say a eror at start plz help:(

  • You left out an important part, WHERE TO SAVE THE SPRITES!!!!! lol, if you could reply that'd be awesome I love darkBASIC

  • @Vidwhizzo I think you put them in the dark basic project folder. ie. If you are working on a project named "Dragon" then put it in the "Dragon" folder. Hope that helps.

  • Working only with lightweight languages like JavaScript, TorqueScript, and Lua suck because when I look at anything with C in it, my brain feels like blowing up!

  • @Shriekbat lol... I love working with C++, thats my #1 language.

  • @wulfy88

I try to learn, bu it really doesn't make sense to me. Ever heard of Game Maker? Well, they have a language called GML (Game Make Language), and it somewhat looks like C (because it has the ; of confusion). I stopped using DarkBASIC and switched to Game Maker.

    I don't know how you can learn C. :P

  • @Shriekbat haha yea I used to work with Game maker but I felt too limited, this was long ass time ago. I feel like C++ gives me the liverty to do anything and what the ; means it just tells the compiler that the line of 'code' ends there and to go to the next line, pretty much. I have been working with C/C++ for 4+ years, at first I was like WTF?? but with time and effort you'll get it. and its way better and faster. and are more prone to fuk up the PC if not careful lol

  • I'm getting an error as well Runtime error 501 - image number illegal in line 36. Line 36 looks like this: Sprite 1, x#, y#, imgNum

    Any help would be great.

  • @lplasse Hello and sorry for the delay. First of all make sure that the Image does exist with in your hard drive and that the program is pointing to it. Also check that the imgNum variable is not set to Zero. and has a valid ID that already exists for a sprite.

  • hey man,

i followed ur tutorial ti everything in it (except the images) and i finished, i opened up the exe files, it finished building executable and then my screen flashed black and then went bak to normal, CAN U PLZ PLZ PLZ HELLLP

  • @AllSortsOfCrap I think it has to do something with your code. It seems like its executing and then exiting. Either that or your Graphics card may not support the graphics mode. not sure which. or if thats the exact problem.

  • What are the first 33 lines of code in this tutorial? I tried to follow it but I keep getting a an error that says "Broke from nested subroutine. Cannot resume program after CLI usage." (I followed the tutorial almost exactly (the images))

  • Send me a message with your code and where you get the error. and ill see if i can help you.

  • i'm new to coding and was wondering if you could do some kind of step by step tut on how to make a 2d game. I need to learn everyting. setting up a level, controlling the character, powerups, health, weapons... All that and more.

Please will you help me learn this?

  • Iam showing how to do all of what you are asking in my tutorials. you will be able to add everything together into one game. so, just subscribe and read, understand my tutorials, if there are any comments feal free to send me a message to my channel.

  • Thanks. You're really helping me along with my game. The only thing I really need to know now is controlling the player using arrow keys, and maybe firing a projectile.

  • I am glad to hear that. I will make a tutorial soon for Fireing Bullets.

  • Sorry to be more of a bother, but also one on platformer levels, such as gravity and such, and maybe one on sprite collisions, and maybe attacking with a sword.
