I would love to get this because its cheap! I would be able to take pictures which I love and have access to a video camera.

However, since I am totally serious on photography, I will wait out a little longer for the 7D.

@jackies35 the 2ti every bit as serious as the 7d, the only advantage of the 7d over the t2i is the higher number of frames per second. I use this camera with the 18-135 lens and it totally rocks.

Can someone please assist me on how to use the Autofocus in video mode? Also when i am recording, it stop automatically after like 10 seconds. any help will be appreciated!

@whatsJohnsUTube all i can think of is your memory card isn't fast enough to cope so once your internal buffer memory fills up (10 secs?) and sends the data stream to be written to your sd card it causes a bottleneck and auto stops try a class 6 card or maybe a defect, manual focus is the way to go just keep practicing :)

I'm likely going to get the 550d and record a lot in a short timeframe with it (short being around 2 - 4 hours); I chose it over a camcorder (even with the file size limit on DSLRs) since it produces much better results and it doesn't matter much to me about the jumps in the video.

Lots of people knock the kit lens- maybe they have a point when it comes to photography for print or compared side by side to a $1500 L series but it's not exactly useless for video- I find Image Stabilization is very handy too.

@radnog4 well people judge these cameras & the kit lenses as if theyre top of the line DSLRs... so their criticism kind of shows how great they really are! Im buying the kit lenses. If I was going to buy a Mark then Im sure I wouldnt... but the eos 500/550 are technically entry level DSLRs

@ByeByeBelly I couldn't agree more. I have a really nice f1.4 prime and a decent enough tele too but I've been out shooting all morning and when you're walking about photographing people the kit lens is the one for the job.

Another nice thing about the smaller/entry SLR's is that people are generally quite used to seeing those sorts of cameras about and they're much less imposing than the pro models. Most of the shots I get are down to being able to shoot video and stills from the hip.

Let's see the Empire State Building near center and the Chryler building to the right - were you near the Brooklyn Bridge? Great vid and contrast! Also, at this perspective, did you have the lens at the smaller iris (building tilt) or closer to the 55mm? Good perspective either way! Wish the darn thing came with a mic in component!

@scarobcat1 Nope, I was at 12W 27th Street (high up) ;) This was my first day with a Canon kit and didn't have access to anything else. And, I agree about the mic. It's a highly significant drawback.
