Nothing close to real 12 chairs. Nothing and no one in world can repeat real first Soviet movie 12 chairs, 1971. With stars Archil Gomiashvilly, Sergey Filippov, Michael Pugovkin.

No one any Hollywood or any studio ever, can do better any Russian movie.

Я смотрела обе наши версии "Двенадцати стульев". И не раз))) Это не мешает мне любить фильм Мэла Брукса, который был снят, между прочим, раньше наших фильмов. Он адаптировал сценарий и снял комедию в своём неповторимом стиле. Даёшь больше экранизаций. Хороших и разных)))

I honestly don't believe Mel planned on being true to the books Sotopha and others........you DO have a sense of humor don't you? Damn funny film..perhaps the humor is a bit dated but in many ways that's the part of the charm....Mel rarely... if ever disappoints
