4: id buy a dvd for sure cause gnooze from 2007 / any year is always fun to watch!

Ive never posted anything previously cause its a bit (creepy?) but i really enjoy the gnooze and self promotion is totally legit, its not obnoxious, time to buy a t-shirt =). keep it up!

One thing which is quite simple and effective.

Place links in the sidebar, in every video. Linking to your site, your twitter, your merch.

It's simple and anyone who watches your video will probably see it.

May be you should do a two versions, one is short and free and the other is long and need fee subscription in the gnooze(.)com. The free version would promote the longer versions.

As to the promotion, the screenshot at the end of videos lists your website. Perhaps it should also have the Twitter page (because for some reason Twitter hit critical mass last month) and/or your Facebook fan profile.

These bits of info might also say "links in the description" so people needn't freezeframe and type out your info. Then use all three (or more) links in every description.

I voted for Gnooze in a webshow contest. Look for more; it can't hurt to enter them and try to involve us

Hey Marta! I have an idea, maybe you could start a contest where you get your viewers to create a design for your teeshirts and then you could pick the top 3-4 or whatever and make that what you sell for your merchandising. Maybe even have the a grand prize winner where that design is the one that you promote the most and have it on multiple items like, mugs, tees, hoodies, touques etc. I personally want a Gnooze touque as I am a canook. If you were open to that design promotion, I'd suggest making a bounty on Logo Tournament d ot co m and asking the viewers to go there (incl. link in video descriptions). That way you get viewer submissions as well as regular LT graphic artists giving you a design for your price (25-50 bucks maybe).

As to merchandise I think a canvas tote bag would be practical as more ppl are using them for shopping. Also office-oriented stuff like mugs would be cool, as ppl like to personalize work spaces.

I'm one of those who doesn't care as much about the current event thing as I am about the Marta Being Fun & Silly thing. Current events is the straight man or fall guy. Banana peel. I wish Marta do more interviews and then try to do your "be like" schtick in front of the interviewee so we get their reactions on tape. Yes it would get old. That's part of what makes it funny.

Just dump the links in the video description, or edit the intro to have the links classily put somewhere neatly. The first bit of the intro DOES have white space.

Possibly for contests/what to do with tshirts, you could just once a month or so cover a discussion friendly topic, like the stem cells changes and do a "best video response" contest. That'd hopefully get your videos tons of responses and bump the show towards front pages of video sites - and hence increase the viewership.

Marta, you could always have more indepth thoughts on a topic or offer links to topics taht you are discussing in an article on the gnooze website. Post those links in the side bar, that way anyone who views the video a few months from now will still get to a relevant link on your site.

Or, interview people on the street like you did during the campaign. That was a big hit if I recall. Create a short video for youtube (or incorporate it with regular gnooze), and put the whole video on your website.

Hi Marta,

Don't feel bad about self promotion. e.g. "Don't forget to check out the gnooze website" or "Follow me on Twitter" at the end of every show.

About merchandise - the only down side I see is that it is not a recurring source of income. e.g. If I buy a mug, it will be a while till I buy another one, and then maybe I'll buy a Gradual Report mug.

I think finding something that generates income for every episode you make is the key to making Gnooze self-sustaining.
