I grew up at Black Mountain College from 1945-51. The entrance road was a dirt road, and there was nothing on the lake between the Dining Hall and the Studies Building. The site has changed from the early days. The College was an experiment that only lasted 23 years or so. Nobody was famous at that time (except perhaps the Bauhaus people, Gropius, the Albers etc). Many people have been omitted from the list on this video.

I think the creator of this video might benefit from doing a little reading on the school to correct numerous errors in his presentation, as well as misconceptions about some of the buildings. Perhaps Martin Duberman's "Black Mountain," Michael Rumaker's "Black Mountain Days," and Mary Emma Harris's "The Arts at Black Mountiain." You also may want to visit the Black Mountain Museum and Arts Center in downtown Asheville, N.C.
