I play guitar and know some about techs, brands, strings, intonation, tunings, legato, sweep picking, and all that other shit. I heard that all his solo's if not most of them are in the key of E. Is that true?? Some of his stuff seems to run together but I mean they all sound great. I wouldn't know if someone told me hey play a solo or something in A or E or something to that effect.

@blackblurable What cheepo said - the key defines the root note. Most Necrophagist solos are in D (as they tune a step down from standard).

@blackblurable I know, sorry - but most of the solos I can remember how to play are in D (Stabwound, Epitaph)... Diminished to B and Ignominious both start off in C, but I can't think of any that are in E. It makes everything easier playing in the key you're tuned to - just start with a standard minor arpeggio on the 17th or 19th fret and work from there.

I respect him very much and like Necrophagist, but I feel this observation is accurate. I think his best solo is probably the one from Fermented Offal Discharge, it has alot of character to it, it isn't just extremely technical.
