  • first, Obama Would have had to send a research team down to the Gulf. When Bobby Jindal wanted to build a SAND bar off the coast to keep the oil from coming ashore, they said he couldn't because they weren't sure of the impact it would have on the environment, IT WAS SAND FROM THE OCEAN. Did they have to do an impact study before they decided to clean it up?

  • mushrooms eat oil and hay.

  • It looks like a quarter pound of hay for about a cup of oil so for arguments sake say equal weight and many more times the volume. At 8 cents a pound for hay and millions of gallons of oil (30 million gallons of oil last time I checked) you are looking at many millions of dollars just for the hay then the trucks and equipment to get it there, the trucks to take it away then what you are going to do with it afterward.

  • Although I don't think this would make a 100% effective solution as it appears you need equal weight of hay to oil (at 40k+ barrels of oil a day that is a lot of hay and with currents and what not it might just make a royal mess. However it is still a better than nothing (or putting more toxins in the water like BP did with their proprietary corexit dispersant) and could be part of a multi faceted approach. I still think they need to find ideas on how to get the pipe to stop spilling first.

  • Do genetically modifieds food work?

Throw them all in the Gulf to suck up the oil.

  • nice work you will put hay in ocean :D

  • I've sent tons of emails to my congressman and senators and haven't heard nothing yet. i doubt our government would implement this solution because it makes too much sense!

  • Is that salt or fresh water

  • This is too simple and cheap for "our government officials" to consider. How simple a solution!!! I think EVERYONE SHOULD CONTACT OUR CONGRESS PEOPLE AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT WE THINK!!!!!!!

  • US ARMY corps of engineers US navy can bury it under tons of debris and seal it

  • Visit OilHay com for detailed information on the type of equipment and processes used to applicate hay and straw to large areas of land and water. E-mail at OILHAYat Livecom for hay and straw purchases and application.

  • This is amazing!!!!

  • Have a look at OILHAY. com these guys are capable of spreading millions of pounds of hay over the top of the affected areas which could be very helpful in cleanup efforts.

  • Just as long as its free of fertilizer though... Nitrogen in the fertilizer has already caused some areas of the ocean with scant amounts or even no oxygen. This mean organic hay would be needed which is not in huge abundance. ...and that's when bad news becomes worse. There is no organic hay to be had. Supply cannot meet today's demand. Its simply tapped out.

  • dghgfn

  • To easy to simple you got to understand the Federal Governments involved its all about talk how much you need them and laws - do you think they even want to try something practical if it won't help them

    Thanks anyway

Wake up America your under siege

  • Also, i would like to mention that if we are using increased agriculture resources to clean up oil spills that the cost of food will increase, in particular, beef.

  • Well, the surface oil you can do that with, but what will they do with the oil that is still under the ocean surface? Hay and Hair is only part of the answer, it will not pick up all the oil. There has never been an oil spill or leak that far under the ocean. This is the first time the world has seen this type of oil spill.

  • This is nothing new.Hay has been used in small contained oil spill areas for over 30+yrs..In big areas where current, waves and wind is involved it doesn't work.Thats where oil booms come into play.

  • Oil sheen is flat on the water surface and not AS affected by the wind. The hay will be heavy and pertrude above the surface. With any South wind the oil soaked hay will blow in MUCH faster than it can be collected and be stuck in every nook and cranny on the gulf coast. Not to mention, floating masses attract sea life. Fish will seek refuge under this mess and die. Plus it will double the cleanup. .

  • @hcoptertx How can that guy say the ocean gas NO EDGES? UMM. its called coast line, which is where all this crap will go and exactly

where we r trying to keep it from. Very bad idea!!

  • @hcoptertx and chemicals will? just more problems to add to this mess...very negative,, use the hay it will help...

  • I think this is brilliant" So what do you do with the soiled hay?? Make asphalt with it,,america needs new roads, this will produce a ton of work/jobs..who pays for it.....BP that's who...see congress that wasn't hard........

  • @americanhogs let me know when ur name goes on the ballot! lol u have my vote!

  • I cross-posted yr vid 2 both my YouTube, my Facebook, and my 2 highly-rated personal blogs. Thx once, Jak, again 4 doing yr part.

  • @GordonWayneWatts thank u :)

  • @randers9803

How about you shut the fuck up, make a video and come up with your own solution douche bag?

  • Interesting...

    ★★★★★

  • Was that me making you chirp? ;-)

What an amazing solution. It doesn't get any greener that that! Thank you for posting this sweetness.

    xoxo

  • WAX - Another Easy solution - Wax For Pollution . Com - AMAZING!

  • gah! dunno how this went by without me seeing it. quite remarkable results with hay! i'd like to hope this method forms part of the clean-up process.

  • @gothatfunk it will need every form possible to clean this mess up.....i think it all should be used to an exhausted end. :)

  • See both my YouTube page and my personal websites for front page news of this -it also went out via Facebook. --I give you credit for your part. (I am afraid to post the actual links, as I think it sometimes keeps it from posting, but, hey, my home pages are simply my full name dot come -one with my middle name and one without -2 mirrors in case like you know --one has a flat?)

  • clog up the hole

  • hay might be too expensive, we should use something worthless like dollar bills

  • I feel for all the fishermen in the area. They will lose big time.

  • this video looks like she's posting from the ghost world or something

  • @Jukluk4

Btw thax for unblocking me,I didn't mean any harm on that other vid..I love ur vids!! :)

  • I don't thikn there is enough hay to do the job,and even if there were, livestock depends on that hay,u can't break 1 part to fix another,at 1st it sounds like a good plan but I just don't think so..

  • @blondie973 sorry. xox :)

  • thats temporary solution is to throw hay at it , it not going to fix the bigger problem down where the rupture has occured , it would take the whole of 10 years worth of hay to absorb the amount of oil flowing from there , not to sound pessimistic but it's a cure for the symtom not the problem , the amount of oil there is down there is a lot more then the hay could handly ,

  • @jmm1233 : I'm glad, I'm not the only one, who thinks this way. See my prior comments below.

  • @jmm1233 no no no hay for the " Clean-up" the problem with the high pressure leak is another issue all together.. i think it should be plugged also using a metal plug inserted into the end were the flange is and tighten down with heavy all thread rod and large riser clamp.. very common practice in the pipefitting world...

  • This isn't new info. But it will not be done for financial reasons.

  • Hope you feel better soon!! Maybe some colloidal silver would help.

I don't know how to mirror videos because I'm a computer dumbass.

I sure hope they have a lot of hay, I'm really worried about this spill.

  • Brilliant ! Get this in the right hands.

  • Yes, the idea is brilliant! I just hope that our Govt and private companies will act!

  • It looks like a simple solution at first, but it's not. At best, this could work along the shore line, but possibly not even there. Here is why: as the oil spews out 5000 ft below, it is carried by UNDERWATER currents killing everything in its path. Drop the hay on the ocean surface, and it will simply float away, via the top-most current. The ocean is NOT a still body of water, like these bowls - so, you would need a huge mixing mechanism to the ' stir the pot' so to speak>>>

  • CONTINUED>>> and even, if such huge stirring mechanism existed, it would dramatically change the oxygen level below the surface, killing off many species just the same. Even if the hay was deposited onshore to 'soak up the oil" it doesn't take the tide action into consideration, which would immediately carry the hay back out to sea, floating on the waves. Remember, that hay is much lighter than water, so it floats, while the oil travels underneath. Oceans aren't water bowls, they are HUGE.

  • @55ella2007k dammit ella why you always gotta be right?

but, yeah.. good idear >back to the drawin board.

  • @paddedshell yeah, I'm sorry to burst the "'do something, do ANYTHING" bubble. I know, people want to do something to help...but this is not the solution. It involves nothing more than a basic understanding of physics + just a rudimentary understanding of how oceans 'work'. And I would bet, that most serious oceanographers would shake their heads in despair :(

  • @55ella2007k dude you are literally naysaying based on potential personal knowledge held by others. lmao

  • @55ella2007k there you go. That's a good answer

  • @55ella2007k Except that the oil will eventually all rise up to the top. It is lighter than water, it isn't going to sink. Ever carried by underwater currents it will then go upwards at a bell curve within a certain distance of each leakage point. Hay might be somewhat feasible as a last ditch attempt to prevent it from reaching or floating to specific areas.

  • @MikeT19 : True... but that's truly a last ditch effort at that point. Meanwhile, the entire ecosystem below the water's surface is being destroyed as we speak. Oil per se, will not always rise to the top, it depends on its consistency. It's not a monolithic substance and composed of many elements. Heavy crude will sink, while lighter crude will float to the top.

  • Great video jakluk4! And I hope you feel better soon, my friend. :)

  • heck yea! fishing nets should work to pick up that hay afterwords

  • For such a natural and simple solution like this, oil spill clean up companies can't sell it and you cant patent it. When Money/Capitalism becomes the sole motive for scientific firms and companies, such natural and easy solutions are easily overlooked.

  • Hey Jakluk4, I hope you feel better soon. Still, this is a great video - brill low tech solution to help clean up the oil spill.

  • poor thing you are sick alot :( pls take care of yourself & feel better soon.

great idea...the only setback i can see is they are going to need massive amounts of hay and i'm wondering if the disposal of the oil soaked hay would prevent a problem...but it can't be any worse than the oil itself!

  • @cv1122 well in the news clip, they say its oil and hay, they can actually use it as a fuel source of some type.....

  • Human and animal hair also works well.

  • That will work :)

  • That was freggin amazing! But the sad thing I was thinking is if big oil can't pfofit from it, it won't happen......

    Peace Hun

    Mike

  • That's gonna take whole fuckin lotta hay if they wanna clean it all up.

  • son of gun... isnt that a neat trick... hay.. who knew..

  • I have a backyard fish pond and they sell a bundle of some kind of grass that cleans the water of algae and other stuff.

    Good "green" idea.

  • Get well soon! =0)

  • Hope you feel better very soon!

  • Sorry to hear you're sick. Get well soon mkay?:-)

This seems like a brilliant idea! Of course you'd have to pick it up again, but man.. It's simple, cheap, and.. From what i gather it's by far the best idea out there.

  • fucking amazing wow you always find the best videos i am jealous

  • @PROTECTOR1973REBORN get on skype ray-ray!

  • Great info...Hair, pet and human stuffed in a panty hose will soak up to 50gallons of oil in seconds...

the powers that be wont make any money off of this, they wont use it!

  • @julciti we have to force them!

  • It's an amazing concept! I'm glad you posted this too =) Let's hope it 'gets out there'.

  • It's great and I hope they start doing it ASAP! I only hope it's not to easy for them to do without their "experts "
