2020 the poem he reads in this video seems to have been authored by Shawn; the ending is SOOOO Shawn, always trying - beautifully, brilliantly, magnificently - to wake us up and help us learn to see and hear and think and feel with the true consciousness we all have access to if we will but use it.
And the "how I write" section is yet another fabulous insight. Thank you so much Joel. When I make it to AZ, I'd love to get acquainted with you ... or come meet me here on Maui someday, OK?
This person's music was so central to the guiding forces of my life. I first saw him at Western Michigan University with Peter Robinson, and the sound they generated was so powerful, and only exceeded by his miraculous voice. I do like best when many instruments are playing full tilt and accentuating his vocals, but this tape is a wonderful tribute to him. Thank you so much.
I wrote the whole story about this evening when I went to meet Shawn for the first time and played this same Gibson Dove guitar with him, backstage- for our eyes only, and I got to spend time with a musical great. This is my camera angle- perserved all these years and is never before seen footage. Glad everyone enjoys it and please tell your friends! joelsamuelpresents and bscactus
@adfab For the Lost and Lonely is also among the unlisted songs on this video. Shawn mentions he will record it in the studio, and indeed that recording can be found as Track 2 on Shawn's masterpiece CD "No Category".
Not to take anything away from "Breakthrough", coz I absolutely agree it is "one of the most compassionate songs ever written".
And don't you love how Shawn's humor comes shining thru again and again in this video?! Truth, with fun ... fun and consciousness.
