Plus he is the only MEP who has done anything for Northern Ireland the other two barely turn up and when they do they don't say anything- check the EU Parliament website and theire speeches for evidence!! I agree to an extent but N Ireland has proven that if you make a list of targets to be met and the terrorists are willing to meet them peace can be found. This is not a statement for appeasment but if you are unwilling to offer any negotiations the terrorists will fight to the last man when they might otherwise have surrendered - in a similar manner look at the USSR and Germany in WWII: both of whom fought much further than they would have had an honourable surrender been possible.

As an American I watched the IRA bomb buses and subways throughout the 1980's, the truth is that I always supported Sovereignty for Ireland, But because of their Terrorist tactics/murdering civilians they forced me to speak out against their cause (Smash, smash the IRA! When someone kills 30 innocents and then is released after only 5 years is just ludicrous. The U.K. needs the death penalty for all acts of Terrorism!

I understand your feelings but I disagree with the death penalty for terrorists due to many reasons. It creates martyrs and their numbers increase. Occasionally you can get it wrong and kill an innocent. It strengthens the resolve of other terrorists. If someone isn't currently a danger (in prison) then morally they shouldn't be killed.

I say lock them up and throw away the key.

PS -- I'm Northern Irish and have lived through the troubles.
