  • The lights flash forward to blind the laser coming in from the filth.

  • I have a Pro 78 and it is useless against the Australian KA band multinovas. Detection is less than 50 metres from the front and 0 from the side or rear.

It is actually worse than not having any detector as it lulls you into a false sense of security.

The bought it because of the positive test/coments on the Net.

I would recomment saving you money and buying something that works.

  • Good review and very helpful. I appreciate the testing you guys did on this.

  • i have the cheaper version of this dector. the xtr 150. i like the lights on the top when a radar is dected. those lights also double as a rear facing laser detection. its got a diffrent tone for each band. beeps wildly when the band is strong. makes a laser sound when laser is picked up. also makes a sirin sound when ems is near.

  • 9500i is the way to go!!...the GPS abilities and the ability to lock out the false signals is such an awesome feature!!

  • whistler pro 78 is better than the escorts and valentine...beware of the 9500i!!!

  • ha!!! i tested a cheap version of whistler against the whistler pro 78 and both detected ka band at the same time

  • Ok, so what is your point??

  • Yes, you have much better range and sensitivity then the Pro 78

  • Hey roy, do the police have radar detector detectors?

  • what about V1. is that any good

  • Bel Vector 995

  • Yes it would work, however it does not have Ku band which maybe used in your area

  • Yeah the current Vector series is the budget detector to have. They use the same platform as the RX65 and X50 so it is a no brainer

  • Nice, thanks, I think I will be replacing my 6 year old Fuzzbuster FB4000 with the new Whistler Pro78!

  • Hey I got a questionI am new to the Radar detector game I live in NY and I want something under 200 bucks that will simply work. I have a commute on a highway that is plain straight but has a low speed limit is the Pro 78 good

  • Check out the Bel V955, I feel that it has best performance for detectors costing less then $200

  • I would be worried if my radar is flashing blue lights out of my wind shield. Are flashing red and blue lights illegal on a regular civilian vehicle ?

  • The lights will not flash forward, only inside the vehicle to alert the driver

  • great video roy nice to see a new video was hoping if in the future youi could post videos of the 8500 x50 in real life driving situations? thanks radar roy 8500 x50 blue user
