Most often people will point out clear contradictions in Bibles which is no more than proof that Bibles are not perfected messages which proves that they can't be from someone who is perfect (God). Hm. What I gathered from this video was that Bill who was raised a Catholic Jew developed some logical and completely rational doubts about God and religion at some point in his life. Probably because he was raised a Catholic Jew. Idk. But early in this film he states "I'm standing at the corner with doubt". But he fails to acknowledge that Atheism is a religion as well. Most Atheists don't claim doubt rather they claim fact over fiction.
@LjRoc23 Atheism is definitely not a religion. Religion implies you have a belief in a deity and no real solid evidence to back it up. Atheism on the other hand offers evidence and proof for what is put forward. we will accept something as long as there is substantial evidence to support it.

I'm a Christian, and I agreed with most of this documentary. Religion is detrimental to humanity. It is corrupt, and provokes violence and hatred.
But the thing is, religion isn't what you think it is. Religion is what man invents to worship God, and not what God ordains them to do. That is a Faith, not a religion. And if people would drop religion and turn to Faith, all of the problems covered in the documentary would vanish. I guarantee it. The Bible itself persecutes religion.

I'm from Sweden, a country that is very secularized. Almost everyone in Sweden is a non-believer. I don't have contact with religious people cause there aren't any around me. It is really scary to me that this kind of people exist, those who won't listen to logic, politicians who make their decisions based on "what god told them" and people who think that it's wrong to have different beliefs. When i see this only one thing comes to my mind, We are all fucked.
God is All Good. We can all agree that an All Good being would wish to eliminate evil. God is said to be omnipotent and omniscient (he knows and can do everything that is possible to do). Therefore, we can agree that God is able do do everything. The the problem is that there is evil on earth, therefore no such things as an All Good, omnipotent, omniscient exists. Conclusion is: There is no such things as a 'God'. OR God is not what/who we really think he is.

Gives me more courage to question my religious friends. I always feel a bit 'bad' when I ask them questions that imply that I disagree with them... but this helps me recognize that I'm not the wrong one. And they should be able and willing to explain themselves.

Where does the proven fact get its truth but from a governing (form of) Truth, either in nature or from some metaphysical form. Maher would state that there is no metaphysical realm. But truths circumnavigate around one another in nature, never having something proving those truths to be true.

I'm a Christian, and I agreed with most of this documentary. Religion is detrimental to humanity. It is corrupt, and provokes violence and hatred.
But the thing is, religion isn't what you think it is. Religion is what man invents to worship God, and not what God ordains them to do. That is a Faith, not a religion. And if people would drop religion and turn to Faith, all of the problems covered in the documentary would vanish. I guarantee it. The Bible itself persecutes religion.

I'm from Sweden, a country that is very secularized. Almost everyone in Sweden is a non-believer. I don't have contact with religious people cause there aren't any around me. It is really scary to me that this kind of people exist, those who won't listen to logic, politicians who make their decisions based on "what god told them" and people who think that it's wrong to have different beliefs. When i see this only one thing comes to my mind, We are all fucked.

God is All Good. We can all agree that an All Good being would wish to eliminate evil. God is said to be omnipotent and omniscient (he knows and can do everything that is possible to do). Therefore, we can agree that God is able do do everything. The the problem is that there is evil on earth, therefore no such things as an All Good, omnipotent, omniscient exists. Conclusion is: There is no such things as a 'God'. OR God is not what/who we really think he is.

When you don't have those beliefs, secularists, make decisions based on that same selfishness(Mao, Religions, Stalin) or selflessness for humanity(Dawkins, Mother Teresa[Yes, she had her doubts], some of the Founding Fathers). Religion can't be truly selfless, whereas Atheists can and do. Argue away.

I was shot in my shoulder, spent months healing and cant use my right arm properly. While waiting for the bloodshed to cease I got an eye infection in a refugee camp and now can't see properly from one eye.

Monks often form loud angry protests. The western image of eastern faiths is that they all sit around meditating all day. Ha.

@chutilerki Well then you can go ahead and smack whoever taught you it was okay to make sweeping generalities about people of certain religions. Overwhelmingly more acts of violence have been carried out in the name of Christianity, Islam, Catholicism. For the most part, Buddhists have carried out violence in the form of self mutilation, but Buddhism condemns killing others/ murder of any kind. Other religions claim they do, but their scriptures support the idea of killing those who disagree.

Man heavy tone there at the end almost had me too . He starts with - "I believe in I don't know" an hour passes and he's like I changed my mind "Religion must die". OK Bill. I wonder why he didn't interview any Buddhists? The real reason for the violence in the world is rooted in the human mind, which is simply an improvement of an earlier model...the chimp mind. Gives me more courage to question my religious friends. I always feel a bit 'bad' when I ask them questions that imply that I disagree with them... but this helps me recognize that I'm not the wrong one. And they should be able and willing to explain themselves.

Beware of politicians who use religion to gain votes. For me, I believe in God and also creation, evolution, and the age day theory, but I do not believe in all theological beliefs. I do not attend formal religious services. I believe in love and that which is good, but I do not like biggots or those who love war or harm others. I believe is is also alright to ask questions and search for answers.
