The vocals on this album are a statue of David level artistic achievement. If they made a modern list of wonders of the world this album should be on it. To be able to replicate those vocals live is hard to fathom.

After rereading this I think I should win some sort of award for "most over the top praise" but I mean every word....

From what I understand, she's not a big fan of overly studioizing her music, she prefers the raw sound of a band playing live and likes to try and keep that feeling in her studio recordings. I think that's why her voice is equally great (if not greater) in her live performances, she keeps it real on the original recordings.
