I have the software... the virtual edition. It would be a banger if it had more editing features. If it had a sequencer for easy editing. But it is a nice maching. I have never played an instrument before. I have BeatThang Virtual on my Macbook Pro and use a Korg nanoKey2 pad. I am having a blast and it is very easy. When I get a little better I plan on using it for my video soundtracks.

@TheSkellz the one in the video is a Akai Mpk 61, but they got small versions too. It all depends on what you want or need. That one has drum pads, nobs and all that in one controller. theres tones more out there tho. You can get a basic controller for under $100, then all you really need is some software and your good to go.
