The graphics are outstanding! but the audio sounds like your underwater! especially where we have the view of looking out the windows in the aircraft. Also I notice that the frames per second often drops way below 30 frames. This is causing the jerk that we see which doesn`t help because I find when I upload HD videos on youtube they have a jerk in them yet my originals play fine.

All in all a great video to watch. I just hope next time the jerk and poor audio are solved. :)

@Dalekv : Thanks for the comment. I think you mean the screeching sound? That's wind/engine noise from the game - you still hear it when the music goes silent.

The installation recommends "Himalayas LOD10 mesh", but can I really install both at the same time?

@Hewson60 : Yes. The textures seen here & the mesh are two different layers... If you imagine the scenery as a 3D model, the mesh is like the surface of the model (before painting) and the textures are the paintwork.

I intended to install the mesh for this video but forgot. It gives a much more realistic shape to the mountains - as you can see in my earlier Everest video made with a previous installation of FSX.

@pjvenner Thank you! So I need both? I first installed only one, but it had some errors (gaps), so now I have both.

What is your setting at mesh in Scenery? I changed it and can´t remember the default setting. What is the default setting? I tried 7 cm, but I didn´t like it (the ground scenery appears too late). Different Add Ons recommend different settings (one says 2 m, the other 10 m, etc.). Is it ok to take one setting (for example 1 m) for all?

@MFSPilot : Hi, I don't have FSX installoed right now so I can't give you the precise heading, but from Lukla (VNLK)...

As soon as you take off, bear left as you climb. By the time you've turned through 180º you should be able to see Everest ahead of you.

How can you have such a good fps with so many REX clouds? My fps is about 10!

I have almost the same system as you do, athlon 64x2 2,1Ghz too, and ati radeon 4560 512mb, 4gb ram.

@JARMOPOWER : Do you have the service packs installed for FSX? They make quite a difference by optimising the dual core usage.

My FSX ran slower than this in high traffic areas. Look at my settings in the details & try them out - the ones that are low or off are known frame-rate killers.

You can download traffic add ons by fsx,orbx and others. i would recommend buying orbx add ons they have great traffic add ons and once you install the payware ,you get freeware on line as well. the traffic is more realistic with orbx too.

@Lvieru96 I think that's a better processor than I have & FSX is very CPU/memory intensive... The graphics card shouldn't be a problem - In my experience changing from basic integrated graphics to the 9600 made very little difference, but adding 2GB system RAM gave a noticeable boost in performance.

@Lvieru96 I'm no expert on this but I know that FSX [with at least Service Pack 1] likes multi-core processors and doesn't seem to care much for the graphics card. I don't know how much RAM you have but GB for GB I would expect you to get similar performance.

@Lvieru96 That's what I'd advise - SP1 as a minimum. Some report further boosts from SP2 but for me that wasn't such a big deal - if you can add more RAM at a later date I'm pretty sure you'll see a noticeable difference from that.

From the Avsim or Flightsim websites. If you search "frank dainese" this should show up - he also does quite a few other decent free sceneries. Try find the himalayas mesh as well for best results.

nice vid and love the scenery but ive got X graphics and its basically the same with REX but it uses the X engine which is a new engine to FSX. it actually makes the performance better even though its more detailed than the default FSX. i got this for free by downloading it as a torrent. also i got active sky X which downloads real weather from around the world. REX is good but im sticking with X graphics.

i think that the movie is just naturally jumpy. it could be from the low fps which means that your cpu already has a fairly big load on it and then the recording could be affected. anyways the scenery is great! kudos to you because i use fsx and i cant even fly in full settings.

I thought they default clouds were ok til I got REX, maybe you should have a look at the freeware alternatives. Just search 'clouds' on simviation or flightsim sites. Good luck.

I've not tried the 8600 so I couldn't say but I've heard it's pretty good. IMO the processor & RAM are far more important to FSX than graphics card, although it may come into play more if you're using DX10.

the 8600 GT is quite slow, the 8600GTS is a lot better, quite a good budget card, it's in my mum's computer now and it plays crysis med/high on 1024x768

The 9600GT though, there's no comparison, it can run crysis on med/high at 1280x1024 easily

the 9800GT is even faster, running it at Very high, 1280x1024 or 1600x1024 at 25+ fps
