sorry for my bad english hehe

  • @silencer5745 That's actually alright lol, you're good man.

  • @2MrTwoCents2 hehe i havent realized how easy is this song til i played it XD

  • Guys, what bass is that? Name?

  • @Nosferatick Tung only a 100 were made and I think he owns like 3 or 5 something like that

  • @HappyDictator, Thank you.

  • @Nosferatick it's a tung bass :D

  • Like This !!

  • who in the hell put that dislike button there?!?!

  • the change at 3:40 is very falling into infinity...

  • Great melody, great player, great playing. He play to stream at one time, using big finger, very nice.

  • "also at the end of the piece i'm using bass harmonics to form chords... at the end..." definitely music is his native language :P

  • He's talking?! I thought he traded his ability to speak with inhuman bass guitar playing skills!

  • Lol I want to show someone who doesn't know John Myung this video. They'll be like "Oh he's so timid, this is going to be duulllll." Then, when he starts playing, their freaking hear will catch fire.

  • He is talented, but I really can't like his, so called " solos ".

    There's no groove, no dynamics..

    It's melodic, but that's all

  • This is amazing!

  • I'm a professional bass player for 10 years or more but most of the things he said about the timing I didn't understood a thing

  • @nemakur You also don't understand how to put a sentence together right, so don't wonder about it.

  • @UandMeRacoons well asshole English is my third langage so I don't know it very good and I don't like it

  • @nemakur Listen, what I am saying is that being your 3rd language makes it more difficult than than the 1st ones. That's why. You will need more practice listening to english people. Many people do, I don't get the asshole thing.

  • @UandMeRacoons First of all fuck you, second I started learning English a year ago.

  • 4 Justin Bieber fans!

  • The GOD of the Bass has spoken, it is too much for my feeble mind to handle!!! -head explodes-

  • Awsome!! myung you are tthe best playing the bass... I am drummer but I know that :)

  • John Myung....

One of the worlds most baddass men playing on one of the worlds most badass band. And he's a black belt!

  • sublime y hermoso

  • We need an official release of this song! I'm loving the groove!

  • dang hes like stu hamm

  • A truly gifted bassist....and very humble as well.

  • His voice is the most relaxing thing since weed and Bob Ross. I want him to tell me bedtime stories.

  • @DVJigoo he should record audio books. I'd listen to those...

  • @DVJigoo same man

  • @DVJigoo lol... yes he talks so relaxed... and relaxes me too!!! but then he plays and its like the bomb!! no good for some brains =P

  • @DVJigoo It's true! I also love the voice of Gaahl of Gorgoroth when he speaks !!

  • i actually think the people that disliked this did it by accident

  • that song is like weed

  • I think he played with Joe Bonamassa

  • John Myung is more humble than he is quiet. It's like he doesn't even care that he's awesome. He just loves music.

  • he speaks!!

  • one person has gonerea aids

  • am i the only one that thinks that Myung failed to hit that B on 4:15-4:17?

  • @UnforgivingCritic Well, I heard it too, but I'm not going to fault him haha

  • @UnforgivingCritic

If he hit the B, then he would have exceeded the maximum awesomeness level that the universe allows.

  • the lighting they're using is soooooooooooo relaxing.. feels like i want to sleep.

  • First 47 seconds he's like don't fuck up again I hate talking.

    *Makes it to :50* phew!

  • tHE TEMPO is exactly 60. Look at your watch. It'll be the metronome!

  • @agrexxion LOL you're right

  • A good bassist does not need to speak, the bass would simply speak for them.

  • harmonic bass chords sounds amazing

  • Nice song, i like it.

  • wow sounds a like a bass and a rhythm guitar man :D

  • Makes me wanna play bass >_>.

  • You just should watch some extras on DT's dvd's and you'd see that Myung can speak too..

  • MYUNG SPEAKS!!!!!!!!!

  • this bass sounds beautiful or let me say that he makes it sounds beautiful..

  • HOLY SHIT, HE CAN TALK?!!!!!

  • @DarknessxDuox666 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • I need to buy a six string bass.

  • @Lissk92 You can play it on 4s.

  • AHAHA so tHE tempo is 60, how i understand it? it was in total groove with my wall watch thru ALL THE SONG

  • @klickBG It's 120

  • I dont get anything of what he says at the beginning, maybe i need to learn "english musical language" if in the future ill be studying music in America.

    Myung= GOD

  • Beatiful!

  • i just love seeing the strings vibrate after being hit... guitars are just hot. lol... and the sound his bass makes is kick ass!!

  • I love how that bass sounds

  • Myung speaks!

    :O

  • lawl

  • Ten komentarz mnie rozwala xD

    "Myung mówi!" xDDDD

  • @SSJHEW xD

  • @SSJHEW

    :O !!!! I never thought I would see it

  • Amazing! just speechless :O:O

  • It's been twenty eight years for Myung, I believe, and he was one of the founding members of Dream Theater.

  • Comment removed

  • At least Myung is in a halfway decent band. What does Sheenhan have? Mr. Big? And Wooten? Bela Fleck and the Look how fast I play my banjo Group?

  • @MrHumebastic

shut the fuck up. Vic Wooten is probably one of the best bassist around, and so is Sheehan. Myung is great nonetheless, but don't be a fucking dick

  • Sorry, I didn't know Vic Wooten's dad was on YouTube. Why does everyone just start swearing at me right off the bat? I didn't even say anything that bad. I just don't know who wants to listen to Victor Wooten playing flight of the bumblebee. That Soul Circus album is completely gay BTW.

  • No, you're just being completely disrespectful to a great bassist and teacher of mine.

  • Well then I guess the product of his teaching will serve as a reflection of his ability.

  • @MrHumebastic

    That really was completely incoherent

  • You are the product of his teaching. If you suck, that reflects poorly on him. I hope you don't suck.

  • @MrHumebastic

    I don't suck though lol.

  • Congrats. Prick.

  • @MrHumebastic

    sure. I'm the prick.

  • what a phrase, " i hope you don't suck.." xD

  • @MrHumebastic Yeah, but you can't fix stupid, though. (Some can't get taught no matter who teaches, lol)

  • I personally prefer John over sheehan or wooten. I find his melodic, fast yet CLEAN playing amusing rather than wooten's, as I call it, "Random melodic noise" and sheehan's power and speed "Destroy-the-bass" like playing. Just my thought. :)

  • @zekon550

I really don't think race has much to do with talent, it's dedication and practice, although, I'm sure someone like a genetic physicist might say that we are more inclined towards certain skills based on past generations, evolution, etc. If you apply yourself to just about anything, you can achieve results like these, regardless of race, gender or what have you. But, I digress....... and on that note, Myung rules the bass just like Petrucci owns the axe

  • Agreed. Yet I'm so envious of all those NBA players. :) But, and so to speak, if dedication and practice was all we people needed to be as good as other prodigies out there, well, heck we all should be as good as Myung, Wooten, Sheehan or maybe MJ, Bryant or other legends or stars of different fields. Don't you agree? :) It needs all of the 3 elements. Talent, Dedication and Practice or so I think. :)

  • thats cheesy as fuck

  • Its true tho

  • And for those who keeps comparing John Myung with Victor Wooten and Billy Sheehan, They all have their own unique styles thus making that debate kind of stupid since you can't actually compare them. lol

They're all pros in their respective field. Yes. But one man can't have all the glory by him self right?

  • @DreamOfWaking21

Not true. lol I'm a Korean like Mr. Myung here but I'm no where near john's skills and to think I've been playing bass for like 4 years now.

Just my opinion, I think in terms of being racially gifted, I'd say African-Americans are most gifted of us all both physically and mentally. Man, just look at NBA. lol (I'm not being a racist. Sorry if offended but no offense intended. Really.)

  • @zekon550 Yeah, four years can seem like a lot, but Myung's been playing the bass for more than twenty.

  • Asians are better at everything X(

  • I'd sell my soul to devil just to be able to play like you. It's not true when they say "practice, practice, practice and you'll get good like that" crap. I say you MUST have some degree of talent to back that practice up to be that good at something.

  • You don't need talent to PLAY like that, you need a lot of practice and will.

But you do need talent to MAKE something like that, and of course, a lot of practice and will to back it up.

  • @zekon550 true..

  • Keren John (Great John)

  • this is so beautiful and soothing.

  • One word.......Beutiful. His talent is pure awsomeness. Thank god this player came into my life.

  • 3.12 seventh son of a seventh son :D

  • I don't know who's better: if this guy John Myung or Billy Sheehan

  • They're both incredible players.

  • @Slashe50 yeh man, you are right, hey you should check this out: look for victor wooten. he plays like a GOD

  • SOS EL MEJOR!

  • that neck is fucking huge, but the bass looks and sounds beautiful

  • You are the best person in the world anyone who dosen't recksonise your talent is blind and death no one else

  • you mean deaf? haha and thats very true

  • @SKILLWILL09 I love how you spell the word "recognize".

  • @scr3wg00gl3 i've always had a way with spelling

  • @SKILLWILL09 blind people can hear,you moron

  • its because hes asian

  • @BountyHunter233 don't underestimate asian.. There are hell lots of talent there.. I'm also surprised..

  • dude...

    he plays in Dream Theater

  • Yes.

  • very cool - watching his right hand is hypnotic

  • i completely agree

  • Actually at 3:15 he starts to get a bit off but its barely noticable

  • he didnt felt hurt on his fingers, ply such like that??

  • I love the fact that even though he is one of the most skilled bassists out there he remains humble and keeps it simple. <3

  • @unamericano Because he is all about the music

  • @Cyc1on3 Damn straight. <3

  • To Thegodfather847: m8, I read 'bout John's starting basses, and that's some model of the Tung brand, which is in fact a brand no longer available, there were sold few pieces around the world, and John got 2 or 3 of 'em I think. U should check John's biography on Wikipedia : )

  • I WANT THAT BASS!! anybody know the brand?!

XD John is a beast with that monster!

  • its a Tung bass. they're really really rare.

  • hey, how john does those harmonics!?!?!?!

  • T_T

    Incrediblanos..

  • I wish I could understand what he said at the beginning. o_O My English sucks. Myung is awesome.

  • i agree the difference my eng is pretty good but this guy is so technical its rediculous

  • if you guys mean all the stuff about "harmonics" and 4/4 time field

its just basic music terms you don't need to know about it =)

(i study music thats how i know)

Harmonics is just note patternerns and 4/4 is how you count

    ie 1,2,3,4 on the beat

    (sorry if i sound arrogant)

  • I study classical music but I have no idea what he's talking about. Makes me feel like an idiot. He's talking about music and I can't understand.

You don't sound arrogant at all. :)

  • I study classical music too, and I just understand some terms of what he said, anyway, classical music have other terms, Contemporaneus academic music have other terms that we dont understand ^.^

anyway, Myung rocks, he is the best, every single note even if it sounds low is perfetct, he is the man!

  • oh i made a mistake i play bass but am first and still am! a tromboneist so i got confused with harmonics :S harmonics is the really high notes which are an octave above the note of the fret its played by resting your finger on the string without pressing down!

    =S

    sorry!

  • Oh! In Finnish we call it "flute sounds", "huiluäänet". :DD Thanks for teaching a new word.

  • Cool!

wow you learn something new every day...

i've always wanted to be able to speak finnish i don't know why lol Well now i'm a step closer! =D

  • apology accepted:D btw harmonics are found up and down the length of a string, not just at the octave marks, for those who need to know. Victor Wooten does some pretty amazing harmonic melodies if anyone is interested just look it up here on utube;)

  • pretty cool

  • Cool.....

  • excellent.
