Lol I want to show someone who doesn't know John Myung this video. They'll be like "Oh he's so timid, this is going to be duulllll." Then, when he starts playing, their freaking hear will catch fire.
@nemakur Listen, what I am saying is that being your 3rd language makes it more difficult than than the 1st ones. That's why. You will need more practice listening to english people. Many people do, I don't get the asshole thing.
I dont get anything of what he says at the beginning, maybe i need to learn "english musical language" if in the future ill be studying music in America.
Sorry, I didn't know Vic Wooten's dad was on YouTube. Why does everyone just start swearing at me right off the bat? I didn't even say anything that bad. I just don't know who wants to listen to Victor Wooten playing flight of the bumblebee. That Soul Circus album is completely gay BTW.
I personally prefer John over sheehan or wooten. I find his melodic, fast yet CLEAN playing amusing rather than wooten's, as I call it, "Random melodic noise" and sheehan's power and speed "Destroy-the-bass" like playing. Just my thought. :)
I really don't think race has much to do with talent, it's dedication and practice, although, I'm sure someone like a genetic physicist might say that we are more inclined towards certain skills based on past generations, evolution, etc. If you apply yourself to just about anything, you can achieve results like these, regardless of race, gender or what have you. But, I digress....... and on that note, Myung rules the bass just like Petrucci owns the axe
Agreed. Yet I'm so envious of all those NBA players. :) But, and so to speak, if dedication and practice was all we people needed to be as good as other prodigies out there, well, heck we all should be as good as Myung, Wooten, Sheehan or maybe MJ, Bryant or other legends or stars of different fields. Don't you agree? :) It needs all of the 3 elements. Talent, Dedication and Practice or so I think. :)
And for those who keeps comparing John Myung with Victor Wooten and Billy Sheehan, They all have their own unique styles thus making that debate kind of stupid since you can't actually compare them. lol
They're all pros in their respective field. Yes. But one man can't have all the glory by him self right?
Not true. lol I'm a Korean like Mr. Myung here but I'm no where near john's skills and to think I've been playing bass for like 4 years now.
Just my opinion, I think in terms of being racially gifted, I'd say African-Americans are most gifted of us all both physically and mentally. Man, just look at NBA. lol (I'm not being a racist. Sorry if offended but no offense intended. Really.)
I'd sell my soul to devil just to be able to play like you. It's not true when they say "practice, practice, practice and you'll get good like that" crap. I say you MUST have some degree of talent to back that practice up to be that good at something.
To Thegodfather847: m8, I read 'bout John's starting basses, and that's some model of the Tung brand, which is in fact a brand no longer available, there were sold few pieces around the world, and John got 2 or 3 of 'em I think. U should check John's biography on Wikipedia : )
I study classical music too, and I just understand some terms of what he said, anyway, classical music have other terms, Contemporaneus academic music have other terms that we dont understand ^.^
anyway, Myung rocks, he is the best, every single note even if it sounds low is perfetct, he is the man!
oh i made a mistake i play bass but am first and still am! a tromboneist so i got confused with harmonics :S harmonics is the really high notes which are an octave above the note of the fret its played by resting your finger on the string without pressing down!
