  • are you crazy! HOLD STILL!

  • dramamine, anyone?

  • would this work on an atv?

  • @MrMotohead21 Yep

  • @MrMotohead21 why not lol

  • The odd altimeter readings were probably from a low-pressure system (thunder storm, etc) because it is a barometric altimeter.

  • im looking for a small GPS locator to hide on my bike if it is stolen...does anyone know if they make such an animal?

  • @scarekr0 I once read an article on the net about a guy that used the prepaid disposable cell phones, hard wired into his motorcycle battery to stay charged. Some have GPS locators built in. Bike gets stolen, you contact your service provider and request the phones coordinates. Relay that to the police. You have to buy one of the prepaid phones from a provider that if you don't use the minutes, the phone stays activated for at least a year. Google motorcycle cell phone GPS and see what comes up.

  • For fuck sakes man learn to steady your camera!

  • Could you tell me if you can attach an earpeice to the Garmin?

  • Great review however, zooming in and out made me me nearly ralph.. ;) I think I'm sold on it though.

  • Does this one have radio like the rhino series ?

  • Shit fucking review u make me not want to buy it.

  • u move ur camera way too much

  • Agreed with steveski74; the camera movement is very distracting.

  • Thanks for this nice video. I need a device where I can do some surveying. So basically I would find a location, and when standing in front of it, I would like to save that location and add a note, is that possible in this?

  • I was told you could talk on this model..

  • i know its been awhile but i just picked one of these 60csx up used at a flea market my question is when i press find im only looking at 5 icons are cities, waypoints, exits, recent find, geocache WHERE IS THE ADDRESS ICON ? I DO NOT HAVE ANY usb cord i have the manual from onlne is that because whoever set this up did not put address on ? any ideas also if i get the cord i can update right ? is it all because its out of date all functions working well etc but i cant enter an address

  • @wondersvideo If the address icon does not appear, most likely your micro-SD is not firmly seated, or they card does not have detailed enough maps (like city maps)

  • is there any other places to get topo maps other than their site? seems a lil too pricey !!!!!!

  • I think this guy is retarded...

  • Wow, great topic, but very shaky video. Tough to watch without getting motion sickness.

  • hold your camera still ffs

  • Why do people who do reviews always sound so bored.

  • This is the GPS I use at work and it is great in every respect. Probably the best receiver in the business, even in heavily forested areas. I have the Cx for my personal unit, which is similar to this one without the e-compass and the barometer. The Cx is about $50 bucks cheaper and serves just as well. Great product.

  • Would you recommend this for strictly hiking? I'm trying to find a good hiking gps within my budget. Thanks.

  • @christiansurfer17 I'm not a very experienced hiker, but it seems like it would be suitable for hiking. I would check with someone else though (forums?)

  • @christiansurfer17 I'm an American living in Italy with this GPS, and hiking is one of my main hobbies. This GPS supports all of the topo maps that Garmin has released, has an electronic compass and altimeter, and as a little added bonus, also accepts all of their City Navigator maps! I have the "Land Navigator Italy" mapset and the "City Navigator Europe NT" mapset all on one microSD card! Oh yeah, and the battery lasts for 16+ hours!

  • @christiansurfer17 i have a Garmin Vista HCX which is for hiking, but i use it on my motorcycle.

  • @christiansurfer17

Yes, it is very suitable for hiking. I use it when Geocaching, which involves hiking a lot of times.

  • Nice review but for the love of god man get a tripod. I was feeling nauseous about half way through.

  • You can also use the free MAPUPLOAD to transfer and combine multiple .img

  • Hello. i was wondering, can you put topographic maps and the city navigator on one memory stick in this GPS at the same time?

Right now i got them on 2 seperate memory sticks.

  • You can put them on both if you have enough room on the card for both. I believe there was a 2GB limit for cards with the original release of the 60 CSx but I think they have released a firmware upgrade that expands this memory card limit to 4gb. Google around and some forums should point you in the right direction.

  • You can get 16 gb memory cards.

But im pretty sure you can't putt topographic maps and the city navigator on the same memory stick. I'm 99% on this. anyone know 100%? i tryed to google it but couldent find annyting....

  • hey dude hold the frecking camera still and keep it in focus

  • Man I totally need to talk to you! I just found you and it looks like you've ridden in Mexico. I want to ride down the pan American Highway to Nicaragua. Tell me what you can about this...PLEASE! Thanks bro! I look forward to chatting with you!

  • I am no expert myself, but the place you want to start asking questions at is horizonsunlimited(dot)com

This is THE resource for international motorcycle travel and advice.

  • If you transfer data from mapsource like waypoint directly to sd card (and NOT connect your 60csx) will the waypoint a be transferred when you pop your sd card into the 60csx?

  • I'm looking at this model and another from a different manufacturer.

can this unit be used without the sd card? and does this have a back up memory? I heard it has no interenal memory so how can you save waypoints? would you lose them if you turn the unit of?

I want it mainly for hiking and hunting not to worried about using it in the car. I dont know alot using them but just want to make sure i get a good one and i won't get lost. so its easy to back track with this?

  • It does require an SD card to store map and waypoint data. They are cheap ($20) for a 2 gig on Amazon or NewEgg. You can record waypoints every 5 seconds if you like, or 5 meters, making it very good for finding your way back.

  • nice video wish u woulda went into more detail about the Barometric altimeter

  • I was all set to unload my gift Garmin 60CSx for my bicycle trip in South America. I had gone to a seminar on the Garmin and all they talked about was bread crumbs and returning to your car. The video shows me I can get directions on roads if I can get a map. That was unclear and makes me think it might be more than a white elephant for my bicycle tour.

  • I'm not sure what you mean. What is it you are trying to do, and what do you think the Garmin can't do?

  • Sorry, for being unclear. It was given to me as a retirement gift, but there was not the $100 US map. I could not find commercial maps for South American Roads except Brazil. A websitesite provided a free map of just Columbia which I finally got loaded on the memory chip. I may try some more after seeing you use it to actually give road directions . Or I may still try to sell it and buy a mini-notebook to take on my bicycle tour. Thanks

  • Stop shaking the camera ! Thanks !

  • Sorry :(

  • "Maximum speed... That must be wrong, right?"

    That was funny ^_^

  • Must have been a glitch ya know :)

  • How to save the altitude graph picture?

  • Thanks for posting this. Just ordered one. Have you done any side by side comparisons between the 60Csx and lower end units with built-in antennas. The antenna turned out to be one of the selling points for me since I've had trouble with other units in certain places where I expected to be able to get a signal.

  • hey guys seriouse question .

i just found one of these under my bed and is working perfectly .(how much is it worth ?)

  • You found It? Under your bed?

  • yes!!

just moved in to this new apartment, it was under the bed

i wont be using it so i was woundering i could sell.

    anyidea how much?

  • The previous user might be looking for it for the device may contain information about his tracks. It is very difficult to sell this device, since it has ID number and if the previous user registered this device for free (what most users do) if you sell it to new person and he founds out that the device belongs to somebody else you could be charged for stealing it. The user will be you owner if you return to him. Contact landlord or Garmin

  • i asked the previous owner and he said it wasnt his ... soo yeah i duno what to do with it

  • thanks for the video but you are making me motion sick. please use a tripod or something.

  • No kidding - nice of you to take the time but very hard to watch with your camera all over the place.

  • Great vid, but I'd recommend using a tripod or some stand to keep the camera still and give you an extra hand to demo with. The movement is pretty distracting

  • Nice vid.

  • Thanks for the video, I am thinking of getting one. A question, you mentioned that it would notify you if you got within X miles of a saved spot. How does it notify you? Is there voice capability for directions. I don't think I saw a 2 way radio, so that is probably a negative on that question. And the upgraded maps, have you been able to find any online for free or do you have to pay extra for them still. Thanks again for a great overview!

  • It notifies you if you of a nearby waypoint by displaying a message on the screen. I think it beeps, but you won't hear it on a motorcycle. One thing I don't like is the lack of headphone capability (at least I'm not aware of this capability). In the end, I think the visual notification is good enough though

You have to pay extra for the extra maps. They are kinda pricey, but they have been very accurate on all my trips.

  • Awesome, thanks for the fast response! I will mostly be using it for mtn biking/hiking/geocaching so I doubt I would use that function too much. Also you stated you use the US maps. Do they (garmin) screw you over by charging for US and then more for Canada, Europe, Asia... etc? I do a lot of traveling and would hate to have to spend hundreds more on the detailed maps. And are you able to fit all the US maps on internal memory? I have some old 2gb mini sd's I could use, hopefully all would fit

  • I believe I have the North America map package, which includes US, Mexico and Canada. They are pretty explicit about what their map packages contain. So check their site to be sure.

I am using a 2GB card, and it fits on there. May not fit the whole world on it, but you can at least fit a continent on there. I think there was a firmware upgrade recently that allows 4GB cards to be used. Google around to find out

  • Yea...something I should invest in...

  • Tri pods are wonderful!!

  • What map package do you use?

  • The US one.

  • When you are on ur Trip Computer, I see that the times are like paused or something how do you do that? I can't figure it out on mine.

  • They are paused only because I wasn't getting a signal indoors. Once it gets a signal and can detect movement (or no movement) then it starts.

  • Ohhhh. Thanks now I can quit looking, lol.

  • lol. Thanks btw for the heads up on that event that Lois Pryce is speaking at. I'm going to check it out.

  • Did you have to upgrade your maps for this demonstration?? Ive heard that they are 100 bucks for the upraded maps and I want to just turn it on and go right out of the package. r the stock street maps detailed and clear enough to motor around anywhere in the US or do I need to buy the upgrade?

  • The maps that come with it show only major expressways. It is pretty useless until you buy the additional map package.

  • hi can anyone tell me if it gives live speed i.e mph thanks **Mason**

  • Yes, it gives you real-time speed.

  • Good review. The Garmin 60 series is one of the best GPS receivers out there. They're loaded with features and the external Quad-Helix antenna gets great reception.

  • I got very same garmin gps just a few days ago. I tried it in the forests, rivers and mountains of montenegro and it is just awsome. you can go to hiking with it on any outside conditions (rain, fog...)

  • Now I am convince more than ever that this is the unit for me. Been looking at the zumo and rider v2... but it's bulky albeit it has voice prompts. Great review and once again, thanks mate...

  • The zumo is expensive but doesn't seem to offer much more. Glad this helped.

  • cool!
