I don't know why it matters to so many people that there are more Americans in the game. In this game you get Japan, China, Spain, Britain, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, India, France, and America. And all the fighters are cool no matter what race they are anyway.

America didnt create a single martial art... it MAY have a karate or boxing or taekwondo tradition, but none of them were originated there, that means, americans wouldnt be able to fight for shit if chinese, koreans, japanese, and europeans hadnt taught em.
what you're saying makes little sense seeing as "Americans" are Chinese Koreans Japanese and Europeans. since American isn't a race it's whatever lives here.
we had the martial arts of guns..There was no reason for America to have a martial arts..Wars arent won by who can have the highest kick..But anyway, america is full of different cultures which did have martial arts..
All of you are idiots. Karate comes from China. It's called 'Te' It means hand. Okinawans adopted the martial art and made it their own by adding 'Kara' meaning empty. Get your shit together.
Ryukyu Islands which developed karate is part of japan, they get there ideal off Chinese kenpō because they use to cultural exchange and shared with them
O god. I say one thing and everyone flames. Yeah, Karate is FROM Japan, but we had it in America for many years. and I mean MANY years. So even though its from Japan, we still have martial art history.. Dumbasses!!
... What!? America doesn't have martial art history? Umm, how about Karate dumbass. And, these days theyre are tons of Dojo's, training centers, Martial art gyms all over the place. Ken took martial arts in Japan, so that means he didnt even learn it in America, and Guile doesnt do martial arts, he just throws sonic booms and kicks.
actually america has no martial art history, even the most prevelant form of fighting in America, Boxing, is derived from Europe, being that we are a young country with much less history than that of the old world, to make an argument that America has a unique martial art is quite hard to prove, unless you include native American fight styles, which for the most part, aren't fighting styles at all, but more or less hunting skills
in all reality america didnt start manufacturing guns till a long while after the revolution, secondly, we have no martial art and in a roundabout way you reaffirmed my position, bruce lees jeet kun do was publicized in america, although he by birth is not american, that art is derivative of another martial art, to put it simple acura cars made and sold in america, does that make them an american car company, no, people consider them a jap. manufacturer branch of honda, a japanese based co.
your response to my comment on guns is irrelevant, I wasn't claiming that Americans invented guns or manufactured them from the outset, I said we helped develop them. (Revolution musket vs. m16 = progress). And your second comment was offbase aswell, I acknowledged there may not be an original american martial art, but that doesn't mean America doesn't have a rich history of people developing their martial arts over here. (hence the analogy to guns).
anyways, i understand what your trying to say, but your not saying it right. The fact that Americans didn't invent any original martial art does not equate to America having no history of martial arts. Otherwise its like saying since the Americans can't lay claim to Japanese cars, it means American history is void of Japanese cards??? See that makes no sense.
and what martial art was being developed in the us,crav maga, jeet kun do, bbj, hardly martial arts in need of developing, your looking at it from too much of an abstract point of veiw, you dont know what you are talking about, which is fine, not many people in the us understand martial arts, they all think its like mma shit on tv
Ok i would've left this alone, but then you go and say i'm looking at it too abstractly... if anything you are, and thats the only problem with your belief, you link martial arts with a specific nationality as though it were an intrinsic value only they have and only count those who invented a martial arts as "history". Again I agree with some of what you say, but you need to pick a more specific word than "history".
I can only count 5 off the top of my head, but you don't really need to adhere to your cultural fighting style. Vega is Spanish yet he's a freaking ninja.
As long as it's interesting and makes the character fun to play, like a fat guy doing Jeet Kun Do or a prisoner that likes to fight while wearing handcuffs, it doesn't really matter what the style is.

thats cuz America was born after the advent of the guns and we helped develop them, what need was there for martial arts?
There might not be a particular discipline originating in the US, but to say there is no history of martial arts??
