That may be contemporary metal but the hard rock of the late 70's into the early 80's was great and had much more tone. Like Van Halen, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, early Def Leppard, Rainbow, the Scorpions, Quiet Riot, Ozzy....I can keep going. Just consider that 14 year old just proved he has more overall respect for all genres of music besides his favorite.
