i had bought 550uz years back and happy i bought that. it has all the features of a pro-camera (PASM, RAW, Continues shoting 15fps, large apperture f2.8, long exposure 15sec, shutter speed 1/2000s, 1cm MACRO, Digital viewfinder, bracketing and many more pure pro features). if its sensor was little bigger it would have been a killer but then again it would require a very large lens for that zoom range. highly recommended on its newer versions...
@jailbird111 i have problems with the iso too. at 200 my photos are incredibely noisy. and the battery. i take 150-200 photos with AA batteries. 7.1 megapixels are big problems too. it was a great camera. in 2007.
The Olympus SP-550 UZ cannot record sound if zooming in and out during video recording is enabled. With the microphone on, you cannot zoom in and out when recording.

Incredible! I just bought one on ebay and it arrived this afternoon. I'm very excited. Have much to learn, its my first camera of this type.
Did you use the image stabilization button?
