  • nice review...i have been looking for one of these but cant seem to find one. thanks

  • Great video. I am trying to get one now. Can u do a follow up on the performance of the Champion? Any issues and how's it doing overall.

  • i really love mine

  • The ambi side thumbsafety has a forked pin, and the fork is spread. Maybe somebody messed with it - trying one side while holding the other. The other way this happens is somebody has it in a secure holster, then keeps trying the thumbsafety using the ambi side (nervous about cocked and locked).

You can fix it temporarily by bending the fork back, but it might break. I would just call springfield and have them send a replacement, or get one of the bulletproof ambi replacement kits.

    Cool vid!

  • Thanks for all the great comments on this video, im glad it was helpful

  • @kimberandkenpo thanks for the video man, good detail and very clear picture with a lot of knowledge. I was deciding between this one or a Kimber Pro CDP 4". And you have really gave me more insight with my long sought out homework on which gun to buy for the price! Thanks alot I will be purchasing this bad boy!

  • @Trisjen83 thankyou for comments! the kimber your looking at would be lighter, but this is a great pistol!

  • oh man - I bought one earlier this week and am picking it up tomorrow! Love SA - I bought their LW Champion Operator a couple years ago and it became my favorite 1911. Thanks for the video!

  • not sure what you mean about the guide rod, sorry about the smithnwesson comments. i know i know,

  • My guide rod does not stick-out of the frame, ever.

  • Smith and wesson champion? First part of the video...

  • Kimber is overrated, and their quality has gone down over the years.

  • Just bought mine yesterday 9-27-11 and this video is word for word out of my mouth. You are on exact point with everything you've talked about.

I haven't had a chance to get some rounds in it yet but can't wait.

PS- I'm having the exact same problem with the safety issue. I was hoping over time it might " break in" or something magical will fix it lol.

  • TIP to get rid of lint!

Rub down the OUTSIDE of the Champion with a dryer sheet.

This also works for TV's, blinds, computers and other surfaces that seem to attract dust.

  • Do you have any idea how many COD videos I had to go through to get to this!?

  • Honest mistake saying Smithnwesson in beginning of video. Yeah I can trash Kimber. I own 2 of them. They look pretty. Just so far not as reliable.

  • He does not know the difference between Smith & Wesson and Springfield Armory, but he can bad mouth Kimber? He must know a lot about guns?

  • I bought the very same pistol last Friday. I also bought a Range Officer the next day. I had a chance to shoot them both that Sunday. 150 rounds later and I simply can't wait until the next range session!!!!

I think you did great on the review. You certainly hit on a few excellent points that make this gun a hit. It's a very solid pistol and when you see in on the dealer's shelves it just grabs you. It's a sexy 1911 for sure.

You were dead right about with the Kimber comments, too.

  • Isnt it a Springfield Armory, not S&W? Mine is.. Thanks for sharing. I just got mine a few days ago.

  • Great review and beautiful pistola!!! I've been looking and the exact gun. Thanks for sharing.
