  • how does this work? when you pedal it assists so like barely pedaling will get you going 20mph? or can you choose not to pedal at all? or ? and also how long does the battery last? on a fully charged battery with as many uphills (assisted) and downhills(unassisted) how long will the bike run? a few miles? a few hours?

  • i really like this, and i hate the cult cyclists that always bash this, some of us have professional jobs where we need to dress very nice and cant come to work all sweaty from actually pedaling up hill and stuff but would love the convenience of a bike, this perfectly suites those who fall into this specific category so back off cult cyclists! besides most of you cult cyclists are over weight and know more about bike parts than a healthy diet. as i digress and i dont mean to be a basher either

  • i still think full manual pedal is the best. I can go faster on a flat road on my own than using a motor that has to cut out at 15mph

  • @pyromaneak47 it unplugs easily.

  • Awesome!

How much does the battery pack weigh?

    Thank you.

  • リュックの中身が爆弾テロと間違われそうだな、こりゃ。

Your bag , like a bomberman.

  • ah ok habe mir die inet seite angeguckt is ja hammer, warum hast du noch zusatz batterien im rucksack, wie lange reicht das....... und wie schnell wird man.... ??

  • damn plz explain where did u get this and how du u make it, I´m searching for somethink like this for my bike...

  • cool, but loud. I want one!

  • u usually need a lincence and a lincence tag. that sucks hard and nobody care :D

  • @Lackaffenbelustiger

Worng Ebikes are not classified as a mope

  • holy fuck. do want. =)

  • hope this never hits the road for real. you don't push, you're not a cyclist. but it would be a shame if all real cyclists suddenly looked like total idiots because these noncyclists are passing them by while looking like a cyclist.

  • @timwaagh What a dumb argument . Just because a bike has pedals, don't mean you can pep it up a bit, how does strapping a motor to it make it so idiotic??? I never knew that there was some sacred law that states "thou shalt not employ any assistance to thy bike" Honestly if you're happy living in the era of the steam engine and straw hat, goodie for you. I have no problem using an ebike and it great to commute to work sweat free and I dont have to wear any special clothing just to ride. dig?

  • what is the backpack you're wearing?

  • whats that poping sound?

  • @jtkelly06 im guessin its wen hes shifting the gears theres still a hard load so they just slam into the next and make that noise

  • Wow, really excellent - congratulations, and good continuation in your job.

You can also see on YouTube, the assembling my electric bike. Thanks

  • Dude, it sounds like a supercharger!

  • haha this would be awesome but it sounds like a RC car... and whats that clunk sound?

  • dude your rippin on that thing

very slick setup you have for your self

  • whats that clicking noise?

  • yeah, umm... so do you not use laptops or ipods or cell phones out of fear that they may spontaneously burst in flames?

  • with that design your legs should keep moving while the motor is turning...isnt it tiring? good thing about it is you can take advantage of the diff gear ratios

  • so cool

  • A few questions;

    how much it cost?

When ur riding the bike w/o useing the motor , the batteries reacharge?

And how much time can be drive till the battery end.

  • what a waist of a buetyfullz bike

  • すげーロードの電動アシストなんて究極のエコじゃん!!ほしーーーーーけど日本だと25キロ制限ありかぁ。。けどそれもいいかなぁだって、自分の体重5キロ落とせばいいだけでしょww

  • were can i get this kit?

  • gta sa biker lol

  • LOL

  • rember the motor bike wa a bycle with an engnine stuck on it now it evolved into a completely different machine. The only draw backs to the e-bike is 3 things, cost, batteries and kits are too expensive and the range of the batteries are to put it mildlly pathetic. When we start seeing 80 pound kits with battteries, and a range of 200 miles then it will take off big time. till then its cheaper to by a 50cc than an e-bike which is mad

  • i am talking about 80 pound sterling now wieght. When i was working i used to right my mountain bike to work but boy. I got fit but i arriived at work soaking wet from the sweat, there was no showers, so i had to clear myself in the toilets. Its ok when i went there as it was down hill, but on the way back it was murder. The older one gets the slower u become, so other alternatives are needed. The answer is e-bikes if they can get the cost down by a factor of 5

  • The problem with the purist argument that to have e-bike is a sign of lazyiness, well if that is the case then why have gears, i bet when there was just one gear on the bike, most who were used to one gear, gave snide remarkes to the ones who has 12 or 18 gears. The problem for the 1 gear crowd is that they lost out when the 12 gearers were whizzing pass them up the hill. This is the same for the e-bike. Its pratical and just anothe evolution to the bike.

  • is it necessary to manual ride the back?

  • You did a great job putting the battery in the back pack. I think that is a great idea to make the bike easier to carry.... now if only the ELECTRIC SKATE BOARD PEOPLE COULD FIGURE OUT THE BACKPACK THING!!!!!!!!!

  • To correct jojo808 it is 32kh max in Canada with the limitation of a 500W motor (and pedals if its a scooter style e-bike) with a helmet as well

  • and than a car turns the corner. bam! jk, cool bike

  • Tis a sad day to see a motor on a bike.

  • OMG I want one! lol

  • NICE!!!!

  • love your bike setup...road with aMTB handlebar and shifters plus the motor = awesomeness

  • what kind of motor do you use? do you got a plan to build? its sooo cool, i wish i can have that too

  • I would like to see it outside on the street. Nice looking bicycle, though.

  • Lots of Dumb Ass Comments, look at his other videos and then decide to ask him a smart question.

Would you be willing to share information with another bike enthusiast? I like your setup and want to use one that I could switch off between my bikes (road & mtb) Motor? Batteries? Controls? Saw your trials videos, you have lots of talent makes my 1/4 mile wheelies look like kids play. SPD's on trials?

  • cost .....>?

  • HOw come it sounds like your chain is slipping?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. Simply amazing. Sure to be a success!

  • its funner when you use your strength, not a motors strength

  • going up hill its not

  • well thats what separates the pussies from the people with some internal strength.

I guess you fall into the labial camp?

Cycling isn't supposed to be easy, your commute isn't supposed to be easy, we've all just been too comfortable in our cars for 50 years.

Get out there and build some muscle, challenge yourself.

This is a great machine, but i'm using my quads to get to work.

  • again. bad assumption Odigit. Most ebikes arent mopeds. I get a fine workout riding mine instead of my car. I exert the same power with or without motor pretty much but i just go faster and further with that human effort. Not sure why you are watching these ebike vids if they are not for you.

  • First of all no bad assumptions.... I agree with theodigital, a bicycle is meant to move you around by using your own muscles, and adding a motor to it pretty much spoils the idea.

Plus a bicycle takes away the dependence on machine, fuel, and other things, and a motor makes it depended on electiricty and so on.

He is watching these ebikes to know more about it, and to compare it to his own way of cycling, he doesn't have to like it in order to watch it.

  • A bicycle is a machine . Most ebikes dont go anywhere without your muscle . Many fixy enthusiast have your same argument about geared bike being for "pussies" ,as gears assist. All bikes need fuel to move, whether gas, electricity, or food ,etc. Its a bummer that canadian law restricts the ebikes to 15 mph, therefore making you(him) dislike ebikes . His critique should be share with law makers. BTW, some folks can't ride normal bikes .

  • I guess i wasn't very clear... I don't mean that this bicycle sucks or something... its cool and useful, but i just wanted to say that i understand "theodigital" who replied here earlier...

I own a bicycle and i go through serious roads and paths, and i wasn't suffering through it sometimes, then what was the point of it? i can simply take a bus if i am too lazy to pedal.

  • different people get ebikes for different reasons, just like regular bikes. Some folks will walk up steep hills, other like to ride up fast. Same with ebikes. example:say you and I are in the same physical shape. You have a Bionx motor, I have the same bike but no bionx. If we ride with the same effort you will go faster and farther with your effort than I will with my Same effort. The motor won't make you lazier ,just more efficient . You can choose to work or not like any bike.

  • Youre right ,its enjoyable and great exercise without power . And motor alone is Boring to me , ,But with a Motor to Assist is awesome ! I know.

  • But for some reason I never thought of the simple chain idea.

1 - How did you attach that smaller sprocket to the outside of the large chain ring?

2 - I assume that motor has an inbuilt gearbox for further reduction, am I right

3 - Does the motor sprocket have a freewheel so you don't have to pedal against motor friction in pedal mode?

Another thing, that motor sounds like an angry cat ha ha!

  • Yes!! This guy is a genius

I thought about doing something like this, but with a petrol engine connected through the crank shaft, then putting a freewheel mechanism so you can pedal without wasting effort turning the engine mechanism.

I then got stuck with my idea, because the pedals would stop being opposite one another (not a bad thing if you have toe clips, see power cranks) without some gearing connecting them together.

  • i would put batteries in bike frame :)

  • cyclone motor... mmmm nice

  • where did you get your batteries?

  • よく判んない??

    自転車の魅力はそんなとこじゃ無く

    自分の力で凄く遠くまで行ける!

    じゃ無いかな??

  • how did you file or encode this? this is like the best quality video i've ever seen on youtube

  • impresive!

  • すげええええ

    あほかとwww

    しかも高級車が駐車してあったな

  • whats that snaping noise

  • gear shifting under load

  • that can't be good for your bike...

  • yeah, asking for a broken chain

  • @okram69 very nice!

the noise though sounds like a whale. is it noticeable when driving outdoors? :)

  • @placemysong it is definitely noticeable outdoors, especially outside the city. A new modified motor uses custom made helical gearing which should effectively reduce that noise.

  • $4....its £6 here in the UK which is approx $12... I'm looking at something like this.... recon its good fun too.

  • dang! I want specs immediately! What motor? what batteries? info please!

  • very very nice !!!!!

  • What was that cracking and popping noise?

I hope it was not your gears, otherwise you need to rethink your set up or your components.

  • Hi. I love your set up - the batteeries and the concersion. can you tell me more about it and where I can find out about it? Yours is the best by far!

  • Why would you want it to be gas powered? The engine would be huge, A small electric motor can put out 10 times the power for the same size and weight. Plus then you would have to buy gas.

But if you wanted to go a long way gas is probably a better choice.

  • damn that dude was out on that bike going fzast

  • Now if I could hide the mechanism inside a carbon monocoque frame I could reign supreme at the club TT, even with a hangover.

  • I could never understand the point of a motor powered bike. I have always understood biking to be a human powered, polluting free activity. With this however big or small there is some level of atmosphere pollution. Well that is my piece of mind.

  • True. BUT, there is pollution involved in any manufactured product, including bicycles, bicycle tires and the food you eat to produce human power. If you are referring to the electrical energy needed to recharge the batteries, some use commercial power, but many use solar cells or wind driven generators.

  • that could be a bad assumption Odigit. Most ebikes arent mopeds. I get a fine workout riding mine instead of my car. I exert the same power with or without motor pretty much but i just go faster and further with that human effort.

  • unless you grow your food and catch drinking water ,the inherent energy required to power You on your bike far exceeds in most cases the power coming through your outlet to help propel you and your Ebike .

  • funkycold: ive been thinking of getting another bike just for exercise, my last one was stolen. :( As i paid $4.00 for gas yesterday i started thinking that there r really only 2 problems keeping me from riding to work, its 14 miles to work, and my shift starts at 3AM. a motor solves both by assisting me so i arrive faster than if i pedal and less sweaty :). being a girl alone riding @ 2am is unsafe but w/ a motor i could at least try getting away from anyone dangerous more easily

  • Actually, i have had a change of heart, I see you point now. Other uses the electric motor would have would be when it is really windy, or as you said, being a girl you have a solid chance of getting away to anyone who would want to harm you. Plus you would just enjoy riding a bike : ). I think that your comments/points have made me realise that I need to be more broadminded in how i think. I would say go for it just one thing I would like to add, invest into a full face mtb helmet.

  • Ha. A lot of people have been having a change of heart towards Ebikes lately. I say people don't care until you hit their wallet. Tons of folks don the spadex for a vanity ride to nowhere and back but with that same energy and a tiny motor and battery they can do groceries, commute, visit friends, pick berries..what ever.

  • ebikes are still irritating when you are riding a road bike behind them on city streets.

yet they're better than that driver sitting in his SUV...

somehow bicycle traffic is much more tolerable than automobiles.

  • irritating how?

  • getting stuck behind an e bike in rush house

    lame

  • rush hour? Yeah ,that would be unexpectedly lame indeed. to tell the truth i can keep my bionx on lvl 1 and i have Never been passed. Most ebike rigght now are aimed at Comfort/casual riders. Which is why i really like this design. Built for Speed.

  • but getting stuck behind a car is fine?

  • bikes have their own space on the side of the road which in my city is usually rather free flowing.

the only time it gets tough to pass in the bike zone (i won't say lane because our city has a poor lane infrastructure) is when you're behind an ebike who for the most part seem oblivious to other cyclists...

yes yes sweeping comments, and yes there may be some good ebikers out there, just never on Bloor St. between 8-9:30 am in Toronto.

  • I think this bike with electric motor AND leg power should be capable of keeping up town traffic speeds.

Rush hour is usually a stream of cars doing 10 mph anyway, and as a cyclist I usually get stuck behind THEM.

If I can flat out pedal just over 25mph and that motor is roughly the same power as my legs, then together, I could get into the 30s in the right gear and especially in a ducked position.

  • i'm rarely stuck behind cars as there is a wide enough shoulder on our roads even downtown (now filled with mountains of snow)

maybe its just the geezer that i see most mornings in the summer that i have to battle to get around

don't get me wrong better an Ebike than an SUV anyday, i'm just appealing for courtesy on behalf of all road users in their recognition of other road users.

if you're holding up a line of cyclists on an ebike in free flowing traffic then you are a problem

  • I know in canada the speed limit for e-bike is lower like 15mph. so I do see what you mean Odig . But I think your issue is a slow bike rider in the bike lane. If grandma in front of you were to get rid of the motor ,you would have a bigger problem , yes?

  • that looks like alot of fun the only one you need now is it to be gas powerd :)

  • What is that motor? Where did you buy it? Same for the batteries..

  • cool

    But where is the webbsite

    /Thomas in Sweden

  • what's that clicking noise?

  • lol sounds like its popping

  • gears changing

  • Hello, how come you don't post more information on this motor setup? Does it really have the ability to charge when you are pedaling?

  • hi, wonderfull-can you give more informations?Thanks!HP

  • Cool, but why not just by a moped?

  • Mopeds are heavier and dont have this riding position, plus the smaller wheels dont offer this much excitement.

  • right, with this e-bike you can have a scary ride in the cities. Easy to go faster than 50kmh. Steering is also faster than moped. Also you feel like your body power pushes you forward :)

  • don't you have hill around your area where you can show it off.

  • wOw

  • so why do u still peddle if its got a motor

  • cause peddling probally charges the batteries at the same time!

  • no it does not

  • Extra Power!!

  • Hi

Great concept and super fast looking, not sure I like the sound of the rider changing gears under load though? sounds like gun shots in there!!

Checked your website as well, looks sexy! :-)

  • SIS, as well as being in a enclosed cement parking garage amplifying the sound no doubt. BTW Knoxie ,youve got some freeky awesome set ups yourself, been a fan of your stuff for a few months now. Must say though that this set up is aimed right at my interests. Major power here, look how many pedal strokes it take the dude to get up the ramp! Sick!
