The archaeological evidence can be viewed at a museum, showing numerous "linking" species, where each took thousands or tens or hundreds of thousands of years to evolve from the previous. Think on the sheer magnitude of those time spans, compared to recorded history. Is it so far fetched? I trust the scientific community more than archaic religious claims (many of which have been disproven).
