Are you stupid:-?.....Put a Macro on your Videocam.....The focus of a normal camera(without macro) is 30-50 CM...with macro is 2 CM...that means u can focus little obects you bitch
It seems the camera was more focused on the stuff in the background. The work you were doing was completely out of focus. Try placing a solid-colored board behind your project when filming. The camera should focus properly then.
hi might be using a digital camera which won't focus up close unless you "tell" it to.
there will be a flower looking icon somewhere on the camera, it will have a button next to it. Press it to enable the camera to focus on objects that are as close as 2 inches away.
works with video too. but that only works with digital cameras, normal cameras should do it automatically
I've seen it done, and it basically increases your mw even more, meaning you can burn stuff with your laser :D. If your laser started off as a 5-8 mw laser it should be OK, as long as you don't point the laser at anyone's eyes. However, I am not an expert and this is simply from what I have researched. Does anybody know how this depreciates the laser's lifetime.
you cant mod cheap 1mw lasers, you need the ones that use 2 AAA batteries
also with that mod where the person heated up the resistor, it can make a laser burn things but it reduces the life of to laser down to about a minute or 2 then the laser will not work anymore
on ebay there is someone selling info to mod the 5mW laser.i am gessing that this is the same info the the ebay guy is trying to sell right? btw i saw another vid about moding laser by turnin the screw and heating up a component. does heatin the component make the laser burn stuff? youtube(DOT)com/watch?v=J7zh07Cr_WU
He disables the IR component..It isn't worth it. Use your extra money and buy a real laser, don't mod a 5 mW to burn stuff. Use my link to wickedlasers by clicking "more" next to this video and you get a 5% discount =)
Honestly, I regret messing up the top of my laser just for the 5 or 10 extra mW. If it was easier to mod on my laser I would have done it, but now I regret it.
Yes, not bad if you actually get 200 mW. My thoughts are it will be probably be around 50-100 mW and the seller is screwing you over. There's no warranty on eBay either, so I avoid eBay when purchasing laser pointers. But, if you actually do get what you bought, awsome deal ;)
the close up on the laser pointer wasnt that good so i couldnt see what u had done. i bought one 2 years ago and it was $65 so i dont want to do it on that one but i will buy cheaper one and try it. make another vid but show it workin.
The component looks like the top of a screw, but it is open like a flower. It's really hard to explain. I bought my 5 mW 3 years ago for $100, that is now painful for me to say......... Sorry, I am not making a new video for the pot mod anytime soon unless I convince myself to disable the IR filter which probably won't happen.
persianprez, you have no alternative but to break open the case to get to the pcb. If you don't want to open it, then don't. The trade-off is the laser living for a lot less time once modified. The existing heatsink cannot cope with the extra current generated, therefore destroying the Nd YAG crystal.
Hehe. Next time, think of 'where' the camera will be focussed. Such a nice sharp view of the locking box with a blurry gold thing in the way that looked a bit like a laser pen pcb. Thankfully I knew what you were turning. :o)
I know the problem. At least hiding the 'exact' component with a blur takes away the risk of being sued because of someone damaging their laserpen :o)
After all, you aren't pinpointing what you are doing so they cannot sue your ass as everybody seems to be doing to each other these days. You could also take out the IR filter from the front aperture (flat green plate)
Hah, I never even thought of that, but there are some assholes that probably would try that. I was thinking of removing the filter but I'd rather keep it how it is. Removing the IR filter won't increase the green, but how many mW do you think it will give it?
I don't quite know but mine didn't used to give out much heat until I removed my filter (small green square). I could then measure a big increase on the heat output. Be aware though that shining green laser light onto your skin has a damaging effect on the blood. It damages the hemoglobin big time! I was told by a laser specialist. I then read up on it and its true.
Hmmm? Seems like you have jumped the gun robthevip. Did I mention it damaging the skin? No....I said the blood.
I read about YAG 532nm lasers shining onto the skin illuminates the area beneath it and the green light having a damaging effect on the blood cells. I don't know what it does and I don't really care either. Its just what I read in a science journal about 532's a few years ago. A friend of mine has a 8W 532nm laser and said the same thing.
I made a typing error, I understand what you mean. If it were as damaging you say it is, they would be illegal. Otherwise, it is just minor effects on the blood cells that wouldn't make much of a difference.
i have a 200mw and that doesnt hurt your skin it probably would if you were a nob and held it there for ages at close range. the green lasers heat is much stronger when shining onto something black. thats why you always see people burning black stuff. check out my vid of me burning my picooz lol
ShottyChampion - Where did you purchase your laser? 200 mW can easily damage your eyes if reflected off of something, be careful. But if you bought it off of eBay, it probably isn't even close to 200 mW so you should be safe. Damn eBay scammers.
it came in from hong kong and if it isnt 200mw its bright enough anyway as far as black bags, black electric tape or ballons go it makes mincemeat out of them lol! i bought some special glasses from lasersaber . com they do all sorts of amazing gadgets. i do not work for them its just a reccomentdation. How ever they are expensive pls see my videos for the power of my laser
you can mod a red laser light and you do have to burn a chip near the screw to deactivate the thing to tell the pointer the limit of power to give just like those little go-carts you see at parks that little kids ride they have achip in them
Yes, I did try to remove the button, but mine had a plastic push down thing that got in the way. This way in my opinion was easier for me, but madbanana just post a video response to this one, I'm just trying to help people ;-].
Actually madbanana39167 I have found a way that is very simple that works on most green lasers. The button that you press can easily be removed, because it is usaully a piece of plastic double-stick taped to the pen, remove it and you got the potentiometer
The brand doesnt matter. All green lasers have the potentiometer. Oh, and "robthevip" I happen to be an engineer and study electronics. The pen method is much easier than yours. I have tried my method many times several times, each without breaking the circuit. If you want, id post a video of my method to prove to you that your wrong. Maybe your just afraid id steal your thunder, but my method>yours :-P
Hey, I found a way easier way to accomplish this. First, get a cheapo ballpoint pen and use pliers to remove the pen tip. Then, take the batteries out and put the pen(the part where the tip was first) into the part where the batteries go. Press hard, and the top should come off.
The diodes of these green laser modules are rated usually a little less then 1 watt infrared this mod only increases the available current to the diode to meet FDA requirements for selling and importing a pointer typer laser class IIIa. Contrary to popular belief this doesnt significantly reduce diode lifetime.
I opened it with a pen knife. It took a lot of pressure, and about 20 minutes of doing it. You can still put it back in and it will fit in snuggly. Still guys, be careful because if you turn the screw too much you may ruin the diodes life, otherwise you should be fine!
where do you find the green laser pointers.

If i burn out the 03 component on my laser to make the laser a burning laser, how long will it last?

I don't think that's a good idea - that is removing the IR filter which is dangerous.
