Tbh it's a neat trick using the open strings in Eb but you should learn how to do that in every key, I don't mean open strings in every game but being able to play the same line in every key, I'm guessing it's just a Dorian mode seeing as he was a fan of that mode
nice groove playing. would be cool though to show split-screen showing what your left hand is doing. thanks for posting and paying tribute to mr. jamerson.
What has Jamersonhook, or your comment got to do with my conversation with Beanzer, who was asking what to do about his bass going out of tune up the neck?
Also, you are telling us that an instrument shouldn't be set up properly, something which costs around £30, and the people that have their instruments set up correctly, are terrible players?
My friend, you are talking complete bollocks, especially when you haven't even taken in what the original conversation was about.
I have a 2008 MIA Fender P Bass with Labella "Jamerson" Flats (052-110) and I can't seem to get in tune. My open strings are fine, but the farther down the fretboard I play, the sharper my notes seem to get. Also, the mute I am using makes it harder to play up in the higher frets. Anyway, if you have any tips/suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. EXCELLENT playing, btw... I watch your vids all the time
labella jamerson flats are really high tension take it to a luthier and get it set up at least once a month with those strings. it will keep the neck straight.
Before you take it to a shop, try adjusting the intonation (remember: if the Fretted note is Flat, move the saddle Forward [towards the nut] to correct, so in your case you need to move them back).
@dowsemeister Agreed,I learned to fix my bass right along with learning to play,I bought a 1993 MexiCANT jazz bass and it had a terrible neck which needed to be mucked with every few weeks,SO to avoid this I watched my buddy who owns a music store and never looked back,as of now I build basses from scrap parts and get paid to set-up other basses/geetars. BTW every bass I set-up is usually owned by a bassist to lazy to learn to fix and play the thing,So yes there is a corilation between them.
Great playing bro!

Do you play with more than one finger, or were you just doing your best jamerson "hook" impression? sounded good.

Beanzer, your bass needs to be "set up" properly by a reputable guitar repairman/technician.
You should then have a bass that is in tune on every fret.
Zeshly 3 years ago
@Zeshly I know lots of bassists who spend lots of money setting up their basses.
They're usually terrible players.
Jamersonhook is a great player who captures the essence of Jamerson's genius who often played out of tune. Usually flat which is so funky.
