hey im looking at buying one of these, and i was wondering, can you play this out of a guitar amp? because i dont have any other speakers or anything, and im confused how these are amplified. and help would be appreciated, cause i really dont want to get one of these and find out its not what i thought it was (thats already happened with other things ive gotten, thanks.
i'm new to all this stuff but i'm watching all these videos and i see the RCA cables in the back instead of a normal input. why do people use rca connectors and what are they connected to? thanks.
@threeup2 Hey, apologies for the delayed response.
RCA connectors are fairly common with hardware like this. 'Why' these are used as opposed to other common audio connections is not something I can really answer. It's just another standard really. I think that the SP-404 is geared towards the use with decks, and I'm pretty sure that hi-fi gear like that uses RCA often.
Hope that helps in some way. In this situation I plugged it into an external sound card connected to my PC that takes RCA.
@lyricallobster thanks man....i'm thinking of writing some simple lines on this thing and pre programmed and use this as a loop.....can i??or you have any other suggestion?....thank you.
@teamsleepnine Yeah, that would work - if you assign melodic samples to the pads, then you gout trigger a sequence. Alternatively you could sample melody, assign it to a pad then loop it.
You've really impressed me and opened my eyes to what this machine is capable of. I love making this kind of intense drone music, and I have the SP-404, but I've just been eternally stuck trying to make standard hiphop loops and beats... until now.
awesome shit dude. i just got mine in the mail today and i've been nerding out... but this kind of shit is right up my alley and it's really good to see someone doing a demo video making some real shit with this thing instead of the tipical "hip hop producer" or techno dj haha.

@lyricallobster we'll see i kinda got my hands tied with laying down some final tracks on my album now that i got it and then figuring out a live set using it but i'm sure i will eventually.
This is good. Takes awhile to build but its nice. Reminds me of something that should be on a Machinenfest or Hands comp...

@lyricallobster no problem, thanks for the reply!

@threeup2 because they are made with the idea that DJs will plug them into their mixers which use RCA connections.

@teamsleepnine I suppose you could - but I wouldn't say it's the best tool for that kind of job at all.

@italknmaths Hey man, thanks for the feedback. Are you going to be recording any videos of it?

I love how the 404 gets used for so much more varied music then the MPC's and Korg products. At least on Youtube anyways =P

great !!! What kind of amplifier / speaker do you use to plug in the sampler ??
I want to buy this little crazy machine but I don't know nothing about its amplification (for domestic use ...)

Hi - it has RCA out and a 1/4" headphone jack.
For this, I plugged it into the stereo input of my PC's soundcard and then the soundcard out to my stereo speakers.

@WOZU69 If you have a guitar/bass amp, you can just plug it into that, thats what i'm doing atm (mine just came today)

I recorded into my PC's soundcard via a cheap Behringer mixer. I then just roughly synced the audio track with the video.

how was the audio from your performance recorded
