Wow. Great work and awesome choice of excerpts. Like Marcu5r0xs0x said, a little more musicality would be even better. A great way to improve that aspect would be to listen to multiple recordings of the entire pieces, not just the excerpts themselves. I really hope you get in; your tone and technicality are both beautiful.
Great job! I would have appreciated much more 'musicality.' For me, everything sounded rather flat; the notes were there, in tune, and with a velvety gorgeous tone, but where is the direction? The music? Don't get me wrong, I think you sounded fantastic! I really appreciated the clarity of your Till, too many young players take it too fast and wind up sounding over-hurried and sloppy. Good work!
@PROIMZ I find that German made Horns, Alex Horns, have the most characteristic and artistic Horn sound out there. Let's see you play something then on your 8D.
@PROIMZ sorry. been a long couple days and got way more to go. I was being sarcastic with the 8D comment. Im accepting of all horn styles... as long as you sound good, what should it matter?
My daughter, Erin, was a horn student of Dr. Lundeens' until May 2009. I admire your talent and from listening to other audition tapes on Youtube, you have no competition for this!! How did it go???
oh you're Erin Whelan's mom? Hi!!!!! Thanks for the kind words!! I still havent found out the results yet. They will send us results on Feb 15th. I hope it all goes well!! Thanks!!
and thanks for all the comments! My professor tells me the same things. This was all done in 1 take (except it was edited for time constraints), so I couldnt do much really. haha.
yeah I was using vibrato on Pavane. Ravel was french so vibrato is a must. But I guess it didnt come through on the video because my tone is very wide.
yeah. the unedited version is like 7 minutes long, emptying water a lot between passages. If they ask me for it, I can always just send them a video file I have the entire thing saved on my hard drive. Also I read on the youtube portion that you could edit it. good luck to you too though.

Very nice, especially the shostakovich!
One question, where did you get your Alexander? Did you go out of states? Osmun music?
I'm thinking about purchasing an Alexander or a Schmid.
I'm kinda sick of my nickel Holton I've had for 6 years now and Conn 8D is not much different. Yamaha double horns aren't spectacular either.

I find that you are very good in the bass clef more so than in the treble clef, keep up the good work as a horn player and you will go far

Hi, the instructions says "without interruption" I think that includes editing, you should fix it.
My best wishes :oD
