am having one in a week , I really hope it feels fine, the preparations is a long list that among them I should drink some kinda oil to remove the dirt from my colon .. don't know how I can come over that it makes me puke once I smell it :S
I have ulcerative colitis too. I just went through a horrible flare up, during which i had to miss about a month of school and lost a lot of weight. Luckily i just got back into remission and can (supposedly) eat anything but i still stay away from dairy products. Ive had 2 sigmoids, and a lower and upper endoscopy. I take a ton of vitamins and Prednisone.

I am also going to receive a sigmoidoscopy. I am concerned about privacy issues. Do you get to wear a robe to at least cover the front the part of you when the procedure is performed? Or does the lower half of your body have to be totally bare? Thanks.
@yinstube Tomorrow im going to recieve a sigmoidoscopy! help me out here, did you get totally naked? or privacy is respected? (by privacy i mean penis lol).
Hello, I did not get totally naked. I wore a robe that covered the front part of the body (so your penis would not be exposed). But the back of the robe was open since they need to insert tubes into the rectum. So privacy was well respected. Good luck with your procedure!
Hi, you should have received written instructions from your doctor/the nurse about preparations. In my case, I think I was asked to stop eating solid food 24 hours before the procedure. Only transparent liquid was allowed up until the mid-night before the day of the procedure. After midnight, even water is not allowed. And also I was asked to give myself an enema before going to the hospital.
@yinstube Thanks a lot! yeah they told me to gve myself an enema too, about the food they didnt say too much, only recomended to drink gatorade and a lot of water.
I have bad luck with one thing though, the nurse is actually my ex-girlfriend´s mom :(
hey...hello... do they diagnose you before the procedure?? if not, does it hurt? ii know it will feel uncomfortable only..but then ii dun wanna 'feel' the pain cuz im scared. heh.
after the surgery, how does it take to be normal again? or u have to lay on a bed for a day?
I have my scope done today in about 4 hours. I am getting kinda of nervous and really didn't want to do it, but this video has convinced me that it MUST be done. I have Celiac disease and I just had a test come back + for cancer cells. Have you had to change your diet in any way? Thank you for being so courageous and posting this!!
Glad to hear your doing so good!! My scope did go very well. No cancer was found - not sure yet which test was wrong and not to anxious to find out lol. . I have had to make drastic changes to my diet within the past year. No more Gluten, lactose, nightshade veggies, and a few other things. It is a huge adjustment and I am worried I may have to cut some more things out, and that's why I asked about you diet. Thank you again your very very brave for posting
Dont worry you will be fn soon, would you inform me your diagnosis. Is is infective colitis or ulcerative colitis? r u taking mesalazine for yr treatment?
I had trouble with Asacol. The coating did not dissolve predictably. Sometimes the tablets passed with coating in tact. Sometimes they released the medication too early, resulting in aspirin-like toxicity issues. My doctor switched me to Colozal and i've been doing OK since.
holy shit... is that cancer? I dont drink water I sit all day long I eat meat ONLY I get diarea or how to spell OFTEN I bet I will get cancer one day im 21.. what are the first signs of cancer? blood? btw I got hemmoroids
You might want to try a more kosher diet. I'm not talking about the so-called "Orthodox" and "Hasidic" type of "kosher" diet. I'm talking a more Biblical, kosher, organic diet. For example, you want to be drinking more water and cutting back on the meat, even if the meat is like beef or chicken. I can tell you that since I've eaten more kosher, I've done better. My dad and granddad, on the other hand, still have non-kosher diet; and my dad still has Chron's, and my granddad had colon cancer.
Wow! that looks kind of bad, how are you, this was done a year ago, please respond to this and let me know your current condition. Im having my colonoscopy tomorrow.
i hope you are fine. i am wondering....how old where you when you got this procedure? was it your first? why was it kind of dark? did the doctor say it was because of what you ate or did not drink enough water? thank you for your valiant attributes. you are saving lives.
Hmmm....that doesn't look good does it ?? I had this procedure done 2 days ago and my bowel looks pristine compared to that ! Hope you get some good treatment and it gets better for you. What one poster said about the 'wind' is correct...it's a bit painful for a while, but it does pass.
My specialist couldnt see into the sigmoid colon and had to try it 3 times, when she saw the infection even through a biopsy, she refused to treat me in order to backup her colleague who gave me the op to remove my womb which had nearly killed me.
I just had mine done yesterday. All the air they pumped into me was really painful. When it was over I felt like I had a basketball in me. It hurt just to step. I'm glad I wore sweatpants to the doctor's office.
I'm getting mine done in a week from today, I'm really nervous!!!!!! How was it overall, pain wise?

They usually put you out. So there's no pain. Maybe some mild discomfort after the procedure. Good luck.

Hope the scope went well. Once it's under control with the meds, I don't really watch my diet. Thankfully, I have a relatively mild case.
