  • I'm getting mine done in a week from today, I'm really nervous!!!!!! How was it overall, pain wise?

  • They usually put you out. So there's no pain. Maybe some mild discomfort after the procedure. Good luck.

  • am having one in a week , I really hope it feels fine, the preparations is a long list that among them I should drink some kinda oil to remove the dirt from my colon .. don't know how I can come over that it makes me puke once I smell it :S

  • Did u eat shit for brealfast. Ur shit looks like its made from shit.

  • I have uc too . The life is so hard

  • I just got one of these today and it wasn't that bad

  • Im going in for this tomorow at 9am. i think i have ulcerative..im nervous

  • Are those bumps polyps?

  • I am due for a sigmoidoscopy today, it was nice to see this, I hope you're doing better. Thanks for sharing. Bayareamilly.

  • I have ulcerative colitis too. I just went through a horrible flare up, during which i had to miss about a month of school and lost a lot of weight. Luckily i just got back into remission and can (supposedly) eat anything but i still stay away from dairy products. Ive had 2 sigmoids, and a lower and upper endoscopy. I take a ton of vitamins and Prednisone.

  • what that i dont like it its dirte

    yak yak

  • Now I am going to have a nightmare of being trapped inside your colon...

  • omg. what disease is that?

  • Looks like black lung

  • can u ask to be sedated for a sigmoidoscopy?

  • Hi,

I am also going to receive a sigmoidoscopy. I am concerned about privacy issues. Do you get to wear a robe to at least cover the front the part of you when the procedure is performed? Or does the lower half of your body have to be totally bare? Thanks.

  • @yinstube Tomorrow im going to recieve a sigmoidoscopy! help me out here, did you get totally naked? or privacy is respected? (by privacy i mean penis lol).

  • @Leojk87

Hello, I did not get totally naked. I wore a robe that covered the front part of the body (so your penis would not be exposed). But the back of the robe was open since they need to insert tubes into the rectum. So privacy was well respected. Good luck with your procedure!

  • @yinstube Thanks!! I am lucky my sigmoidoscopy got postpone for next week, wednesday.

Hey before the procedure will i have to take a diet? Or i can eat anything i want?

  • @Leojk87

Hi, you should have received written instructions from your doctor/the nurse about preparations. In my case, I think I was asked to stop eating solid food 24 hours before the procedure. Only transparent liquid was allowed up until the mid-night before the day of the procedure. After midnight, even water is not allowed. And also I was asked to give myself an enema before going to the hospital.

  • @yinstube Thanks a lot! yeah they told me to gve myself an enema too, about the food they didnt say too much, only recomended to drink gatorade and a lot of water.

I have bad luck with one thing though, the nurse is actually my ex-girlfriend´s mom :(

  • hey...hello... do they diagnose you before the procedure?? if not, does it hurt? ii know it will feel uncomfortable only..but then ii dun wanna 'feel' the pain cuz im scared. heh.

after the surgery, how does it take to be normal again? or u have to lay on a bed for a day?

  • I hope you are feeling much better now!!

I have my scope done today in about 4 hours. I am getting kinda of nervous and really didn't want to do it, but this video has convinced me that it MUST be done. I have Celiac disease and I just had a test come back + for cancer cells. Have you had to change your diet in any way? Thank you for being so courageous and posting this!!

  • Hope the scope went well. Once it's under control with the meds, I don't really watch my diet. Thankfully, I have a relatively mild case.

  • Glad to hear your doing so good!! My scope did go very well. No cancer was found - not sure yet which test was wrong and not to anxious to find out lol. . I have had to make drastic changes to my diet within the past year. No more Gluten, lactose, nightshade veggies, and a few other things. It is a huge adjustment and I am worried I may have to cut some more things out, and that's why I asked about you diet. Thank you again your very very brave for posting

  • Dear Dig,

Dont worry you will be fn soon, would you inform me your diagnosis. Is is infective colitis or ulcerative colitis? r u taking mesalazine for yr treatment?

    Dr MN Pathan

  • doing fine. thanks.

    ulcerative colitis

    I take asacol and mercaptopurine

  • I had trouble with Asacol. The coating did not dissolve predictably. Sometimes the tablets passed with coating in tact. Sometimes they released the medication too early, resulting in aspirin-like toxicity issues. My doctor switched me to Colozal and i've been doing OK since.

  • Man. Colitis is a monster. I have Crohn's myself. It sucks.

  • wat about salfasalazine

  • doesn't look good.

  • Yuck, what was all that blood?? You probably should change your diet.

  • holy shit... is that cancer? I dont drink water I sit all day long I eat meat ONLY I get diarea or how to spell OFTEN I bet I will get cancer one day im 21.. what are the first signs of cancer? blood? btw I got hemmoroids

  • You might want to try a more kosher diet. I'm not talking about the so-called "Orthodox" and "Hasidic" type of "kosher" diet. I'm talking a more Biblical, kosher, organic diet. For example, you want to be drinking more water and cutting back on the meat, even if the meat is like beef or chicken. I can tell you that since I've eaten more kosher, I've done better. My dad and granddad, on the other hand, still have non-kosher diet; and my dad still has Chron's, and my granddad had colon cancer.

  • You have UC? Looks severe. Hope ur doing better.

  • Wow! that looks kind of bad, how are you, this was done a year ago, please respond to this and let me know your current condition. Im having my colonoscopy tomorrow.

  • I'm doing well. Medication is keeping it in remission.

    Good luck tomorrow.

  • u need to take alot of glutamine to heal that shiite

  • What do they give you to treat such a condition?

  • I'm on Asacol and 6-Mercaptopurene (immunosuppressant)

  • i hope you are fine. i am wondering....how old where you when you got this procedure? was it your first? why was it kind of dark? did the doctor say it was because of what you ate or did not drink enough water? thank you for your valiant attributes. you are saving lives.

  • diagnosed when I was 19. this was done when I was 28 and had another flare up

the color of the intestine lining is from all the sores from the flare up

  • Hmmm....that doesn't look good does it ?? I had this procedure done 2 days ago and my bowel looks pristine compared to that ! Hope you get some good treatment and it gets better for you. What one poster said about the 'wind' is correct...it's a bit painful for a while, but it does pass.

  • Two questions...

    How are you now?

How did you manage to get that video?

  • I'm fine. Thank you. The doctor took the video and made me a copy.

  • oh my god..pur our stomach!..we have to eat healthy no more greasy dead meat!!...thanks to the science!

  • My specialist couldnt see into the sigmoid colon and had to try it 3 times, when she saw the infection even through a biopsy, she refused to treat me in order to backup her colleague who gave me the op to remove my womb which had nearly killed me.

  • I just had mine done yesterday. All the air they pumped into me was really painful. When it was over I felt like I had a basketball in me. It hurt just to step. I'm glad I wore sweatpants to the doctor's office.

  • what disease/condition do you have??

  • ulcerative colitis

  • dig8, what was your symptoms? did you have to change your diet? How are you doing now?

  • at original diagnosis, the main symptom was bloody stool and weight loss (no food retention). flare up was the same.

during the flare I tried to stay away from raw foods (ie - salad), but once in remission I eat what I want

  • well, i have soft stool, and no matter how many enemas i give myself, it doesn't work

  • Does it hurt?

  • Nope.

  • Ur gonna need a new anus >:0

  • DONATE'EM YOURS.... pendejo

  • I've had 3 of these procedures and also the full colonoscopy. It sucks when they pump all the air into you. I also suffer from Ulcerative Colitis.

  • i don't mind the air...

  • wow...are you dying????? not making a joke just asking

  • do you have ulcerative colitis?

  • yes

  • how fatal is it...

  • it's not. treatable with meds, though I have a relatively mild case.

  • It looks dirty. I wonder what's inside it. I mean those lumps that I saw.

However, its still amazing... Internal body has its own wonders...

  • did you get an enema before the sigmoidoscopy?

  • it doesn't look good; whatever you have. cancer?

  • this is so gross
