  • Yes, Found It. This is my jam! :)

  • I ususally only listen to old khmer (sinn sisamouth) but this is nice!!

  • when I look into pictures/footage like this one, I see Cambodian people, their face & appearance not different from Indonesian people, I think the two nations are from one ancestor many-many centuries ago, we are agricultural people, we are planting paddies, have similar kampong, to call "euy",temples, same skin, same polite, some humble & honest, religious people. in short we are like brothers in everything, despite different language.

  • @deniahmad9 What about the music?

  • @Towaa30 Khmer music is very specific while Indonesian music & arts much complex since there are hundreds of tribes & culture inhabited Indonesian archipelago, but still we are from South East Asia, we are from the same origin. :D

  • @deniahmad9

Is there a connection between the Srivijaya Empire and the Khmer/Angkor Empire?

  • @deniahmad9

It is realy nice to hear that :)

Indonesians and Cambodians have realy good ties I'm sure our Friendship will be hold for a long time. Cambodians and Indonesians are brothers :)

  • Those stars shaped lanterns. We call it PAROL in the Philippines and we use it during Christmas. It also symbolizes the victory of light over darkness in Filipino culture. I wonder how the Buddhist Khmers use this because lots of our cultures are quite similar.

  • It is a sweet song, isn't it?

  • I LOVE THIS THIS MY MOM LOVE THIS SONG I LOVE THIS SONG lol I really not good at cambodian so i just understand a little

  • what is the underlying meaning of this song? i know it has something to do w/ Khmer's New Year and Kherm's tradition...but can someone elaborate please?

  • She ?s him what "Songkran" means. He ends her curiosity by defining "Songkran" as the end or can be interpreted as the approach towards a NY. The sun has made one complete revolution and thus, Cambodians should make preparations for the NY. She thanks him and ?s the names of the celebratory 3 days. 1st is Tngai Joul Chnam, 2nd is Wanabat, 3rd is Tngai Leung Sak. She sends blessings to him for his accurate answers and now everyone will go cleanse/decorate their house to welcome the new angel.

  • Thank you for explaining it. I guess she's just as clueless as I am...:). I wouldn't have known the word 'songkran' is an interpretation for the arriving of Khmer NY. In fact, I hardly understand any words in this song. I wonder if the lyrics of this song or the language used is originated from another religion like Hinduism. May Thevada bless you always!

  • *Earth's revolution around the sun*....and you're welcome :)

  • are the subtitles not good enuf for ya :)

  • what the heck ar they saying? what he said about new year? no clue. but i thought htey were relaly good actors.

  • a lot of cambodians have a soft delicate voice, even men.. its interesting.

  • The girl is a fine thang, but she has a molested as a kid baby voice.

  • They look very happy I'm happy for them too.

  • im cambodian and lmao everytime i come to her house i some how hear this song

  • what a beautiful song

  • i love how Khmer girls sing , &&the guys sing so nice . i love this song =)

  • y a des français parmis vous (there are french here) because i'm french and when i'm read in english i don't unterstand a lot

  • What's this about?

  • basically, the girl is asking what the meaning of 'moha songkran' (entering/changing of the new year) is and he's telling her the names and the meaning of the 3 days of celebration (moha songkran, vanabot and tgani leung sak)

  • regardless, i love everyone

    and this vid was verynice!

    listed to it many times!

  • i feel racist saying.. but almost every khmer person i met was VERY mean to me :(

i try and meet diverse groups when it comes to having friends

    im not a bad person!!

and any one can mean no matter what race, yes i kno

but it seems Khmer people dont like me! why is it like this! :(

and thats a total of about over 20 ppl i met that were cambodian...

even still i like their food! :) yumm!

and their language is beautiful, like few others....

maybe i give off a bad vibe, lol

  • perhaps you have been unfortunate and have only meet the 'unfriendly' khmers... (you've got a few million more of us to meet! :) ) we're not all that bad :)

i'm just curious to know why they were mean to you...?!

  • if they dont RESPECT you, then FUCK EM! Im Cambodian. and i get hated on sometimes, so I say FUCK EM. dont matter where your from, asshole's come in every color. but were not all like that.

  • what a beautiful song! the woman is beautiful as well. this song and the background picture of those banana trees make me miss srok khmer so much.

  • Good song...

  • Is this great stuff or what?!

  • Him Sivorn is the female vocal.

She's known for soft voice, she sings most of the traditional song.

  • Can anyone tell me the female singer's name? I think I've heard her voice in many Khmer songs. Moreover, it seems there are many songs with the same music as this one ('Joun Por Chnam Thmey' and 'Sronoss Bosh Choung', as far as I've heard) Why is this music so popular?

    Thank you for sharing knowledge.

  • The Khmer language is beautiful!!

  • it's hard for me to tell what khmer words they're using on here.. well until i read it out loud and then go "oh i get it" XD my mom's planning on going to cambodia this summer, she's going to visit my great grandparents and other relatives there.

  • let me just re-iterate my fondness for Khmer women. Makes me wanna go back to Cambodia.

  • trop bel music j'adore

  • Kamboja people migrated from Iran then into India, then later into various countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. You have your facts wrong. Khmer, Mon, Viet people are in the same Language Family, Mon-Khmer, consists of Vietic, Bahranic, Monic. Some Khmer have a mixed ethniciity, they are Han Chinese, Kinh, Thai, etc.

  • Is this a new year's song? If anyone has an mp3, please email it to me!! I love Khmer music:)

  • Khmer women are hot. An d this video is just further proof of that.

  • thank girl is so hottttttttt

  • the khmer are the best at this!, thanks regards MyCambodia TV

  • Well, surprising Khmer is actually related to Vietnamese, and without consonant clusters and rolling r's it would sound ver similar as well...

  • ppl say thai & lao language came from khmer, so that means thai, lao, viet, and khmer are similar? right?

  • Lao and Thai languages did not come from the Khmer language, and I think there is little to no relation, except for the borrowing between the Thai, Lao, and Khmer. Thai and Lao are in the same language family which is Tai Kadai, while Khmer and Vietnamese are in Austroasiatic family. We're all from southern China though. :P

  • but i thought khmer language came from some sort of Indian language?

  • I have no idea where people got that, but there are Austroasiatic languages spoken by small groups in eastern India. Maybe because of the Khmer creation story about the Indian Kambujans is where the story came from, but Khmer ancestors originated from south China, and maybe mixed in with the people they met later on. The Khmer language is said to be one of the oldest languages in SEA, so maybe it came from India, or brought over by our ancestors from southern China.
