The song is Il Silenzio, and the composure it takes to play it in front of that audience at that age is quite a remarkable thing. Years ago, I was quite accomplished on the trumpet (also from a young age). That was a chillingly good performance.

Per the internet: The girl is Melissa Venema (age 13) & is playing w/ maestro Andre Rieu in Maastriecht (NL). City officials sealed off the town square and closed everything down so they get perfect noise control.

Though there is a motive in the melody that resembles Taps, this is not Taps! It is Il Silenzio by Nini Rosso. Lovely performance by such a young lady.

This is the version I would choose for myself if I could. She is the best I have ever heard play this. I have buried comrades and patients and she pays a heartfelt tribute to them all.

I MUST have a recording of her performance. Other presentations I have heard have too much orchestra in them --- this focuses on the trumpet soloist, with just minor orchestra background and only at the end. I have looked everywhere for a true recording of this performance and cannot find it. Any ideas?

As an actual trumpeter, as "thetrumpeter10" must not be, I thought the vibrato was just right; the tone is a bit airy, but hey, she's like 10 years old. When you're playing solo, and particularly 17th- or early 18th-century style, playing with a great deal of vibrato is the norm.
