Pitchy- American Idol's made up term for "sharp" or "flat". The term "pitchy" will not be found in any musical dictionary and would not ever be used by any person in the real musical world. but hey. its american idol. i wouldn't expect anything less

Having seen American Idol in the company of other musicians before, I know very well that they didn't know why Randy kept saying pitchy (they kept asking what he was going on about, as pitchy is not a musical term).

Ah, maybe they did. Perhaps that's why. I didn't watch idol until Carrie Underwood's season... and that was a year after it happened (watched a rerun the year after). So some of the band could have gotten it from that. A good point. Me, I just say "you're #%% high" or "you're #$% flat"

Simon is the best judge on that panel, bar none. He tells it like it is, and he's usually right on. Randy says "pitchy" waaaay too much, and does that silly hand gesture while he's saying. Paula is the "fashionista" w/ her overkill "nice dress" comments.

He is more into pop therefore can't give an fair answer as to what is good. take Stephanie Edwards, the girl can sing like an angel but he was too critical and labeled her as a wannabee Beyonce.
