  • My friend had this. It was awesome. We played a beat em up game and one of the levels was on a train. Been looking for that game for years.

  • yes i do want one. I WANT TO MAKE EVERYONE RUE THE DAY THEY WERE BORN!

  • I wanted Sega channel so badly, Sega really was innovative, They should really just bring this back

  • I don't get what sega channel is?

  • @y2zgt

Sega Channel was one of the coolest things ever. So back in the day, you could hook up your sega to your cable, using a special cartridge and you'd be able to play 50 games every month for as much as you want before they put in new ones! It wasnt even that expensive, it was 15 dollars a month for 50 games! It was one of the best parts of my childhood. There would be games you couldnt find anywhere else or never even tried.

  • @y2zgt It was like a cable box you hooked into your cartridge slot and it allowed you to play 50 games as many times as you wanted for 1 month, then you'd pay a renewal fee and they would rotate what was available... Think of it as OnLive, but not laggy or if Steam was a all you can eat rental service. You could play as much as you wanted every month you paid for the service. This was before the internet was huge.

  • I called this number and i found a INSURANCE number.

  • Got to LOVE SEGA! Whoever doesn't is just a fool and has no idea of gaming!

  • I've never heard of this before. it could be because of the fact that it's only available to selected cities/states and mine wasn't it, obviously.

  • @garageman1989 or that you were 5 when it was new.....

  • @garageman1989

I read about the Sega channel in videogame magazines at the time, but never saw an ad for it until I watched this. I wonder how much it was per month compared to buying the games they had up on it. Some games like that Mega Man Wily Wars & Golden Axe III weren't available in the U.S. except for the Sega channel.

  • @wtcvidman It was only a few bucks a month.

  • They just don't make commercials like they used to.. :(

  • Wanna rule your friends for the rest of their PATHETIC little lives?

  • If I lived back when that stuff was around and had a Sega Genesis, I would order that channel.

  • Oh and sega channel to.

  • sega is still awesome but they should still be making more systems. I still own sega systems(master system, genesis CD 32x, Saturn and dreamcast) for memories.

  • Sega was awesome. I wish they would make another system. They knew how to treat their customers.

  • @cmoney1928 No they didn't. They shafted their most loyal customers by releasing the Saturn 6 months after they spent a couple hundred dollars for a 32x.

  • I never took 32x seriously, i think that was a filler not their actual next gen system. I never got one. Dreamcast is still one of my favorite systems of all time.

  • Then you weren't a loyal customer.

  • lol I was. I just did not buy every system they put out year after year due to being a kid and not having the money. I still don't get why they would literally put out a system 6 months after they just released one before.

  • @cmoney1928 you were right the first time.... the 32x wasn't a system.... it was just filler (at least the sega cd had a few decent games going for it)

  • i WANT a dreamcast

  • Yes, I was thinking the same thing, too. "Wanna rule your friends for the rest of their pathetic lives?! Then get hooked into SegaChannel!" Hahah, I loved the style of these commercials

  • wow what a smel;ls l;ike teen spirit ripoff song, tho i do miss playing my sega.ah good old days, love and miss you 90s so much!

  • In the end, around 96 or 97, I had to choose whether to keep the Sega Channel or get the Internet. Due to its unfortunate lack of boobs, the Channel drew the short straw. :-(

  • LMAO! XD to bad i was born ing 92 i never got to experience this just the sega dreamcast

  • God they used that same stupid Smells Like Teen Spirit ripoff in like every commercial back then. I looked it up on APM, apparently it's called "Flannel Party". How 90s.

  • Ahead of its time.

  • haha yeah, it was just too awesome!

  • God, I wish they bring this back. I love the 16-bit era. 5/5

  • I love how the music playing in the background is an obvious rip-off of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

  • I just called the number at the end.....I get a busy signal lol.

  • That Phone Number at the end of this old Sega Channel commercial is useless now because Sega Channel has already been obsolete for over 10 years.

  • lol! I know that I was just curious what Id get at the other end if I called.

  • I did the same thing...lol

  • I used to play Sega Channel all the time; such good times I used to have!

  • i remember they used to run a sega channel infomerical and they would break it up with this 30 second spot.. damn i wish i got sega chan when I was a kid.. or at least had the adaptor now as a collectors item

  • You know, I miss Sega Channel, At least I still have the Adapter Cartridge ^_^

  • I still have cable blue for Sega Channel, but not adapter cartidge. :(

  • What happens when you plug it in and have it run now?

  • I get the sega channel opening and nothing else happens even with the coaxial cable plugged in it's just a blank screen (Although Comcast wasn't around then and wouldn't have had it anyways)

  • Hmmmm i wonder what happens with a cable compony that was at the time, either a error message or just the exact same.

  • I'll ask my friend, Warner cable I believe was one of them, so I'll see what he gets with his old sega channel modem assuming he still has it

  • aye aye.

  • You tried? HAHAHAHAA NICE!! I was wondering if it'd work or not thanks for tryin or else i woulda had to dig it outta the attic lol

  • I doubt it... Sega Channel depended on your cable company, and I doubt they'd keep the service.(unless they have no idea if they still have it.)

  • does the phone number even work?

    try it

  • I tried it, it's just some recorded message for some sort of money loaning service.

  • even back then as a little kid i was pwning in all the classic games i miss those memories

  • 00:04

"Wanna rule your friends for their pathetic piece of shit cocksucking mother fucking lives?!"

    "WE'RE SO FUCKING EXTREEEEEEEME

WE CAN INSULT HALFLY EVERYONE IN THIS PATHETIC-ASS WORLD"

  • I made a vieo on SEGA called THE HISTORY OF SEGA! U should see.

  • "Nintendo bought Sega a few years ago."

    AHAHAHAHAHHAAA NOOB!!

  • You know not everyone is up to date like you dorks!

  • nah your right that was an over reaction. sorry mate :)

  • sega is a 3rd party company noob thats why there are games on 360 like sonic unleashed

  • Ahhh..... the Sega Channel. Summer 1995 in North Houston,TX with Time Warner cable. My baby brother and I loved SEGA Channel and many of our friends owned it. Memories of playing rarities like "Mega Man: Wily Wars, Richard Scary, Berenstian Bears, Crystal's Pony Tail. Watch out Wii VC, When SEGA unleases another console you'll be getting a competitor that not only offer more classic games but where you only pay a monthly fee!

  • ummm sega ain't gonna release another console....

    that 2012 rumor is fake!

  • so innovative...

  • Cool commercial, but they were showing Earthworm Jim on there. Eww...

    I never liked him.

  • He is awesome.

  • I know most people like him, but for some reason I never cared for that guy. I just don't know why.

  • lol rest of their lives! since its dead now

  • i had mine in 95 or 94 i was 3 or 4 around the time i only had four games which was mortal kombat, sonic the hedgehog, sega sports basketball, and joe montana football(nevered liked the game)

  • @jeffhardywii You don't remember that... LOL!!! maybe your dad does.

  • I think it was from 1994-98. I was 14 when I got mine for Christmas in 1995. Good Memories. Too bad they don't do this for the next gen consoles.

  • I wonder if that phone number still works . . . . . nope it does'nt damn.

  • What Happens When You Dial It?

  • What I got was some advertisment for freedom loans or some shit.

  • ahh the 90's, brings back so many childhood memories, i tried calling the # and it sends me to some financial company lol, i wish i had sega channel, ;_;

  • Check out the Nirvana rip-off background music, lol. Gotta love the 90's

  • lmao ur right..

  • How long did sega channel last for. I never got a genesis back in the 90s.

  • i think 4 years from 94-98

  • sega channel is my life rock on rocker dudes

  • I really wanted Sega Channel but never got it. :( Mostly because i didn't get a Genesis untill like 1998.

  • damn...and i thought i was late to get one when i was a kid..lol

  • I got my genny around 97. I was 4 years old.

  • Heh, I was 14, whipper snapper.
