Akatuski and Genei Ryodan have completely different purposes: Akatsuki are evil mercenaries, Ryodan are assassin's, rapers and pillagers.
Sasuke and Kurapika really only have those 2 things in common otherwise they are completely different, not to mention Kurapika is a lot more mature.

The age doesn't matter to me, just the way you see things are foolish to me that i make assumptions from (No point in nit picking it not). BUT you've got a point though and yes he is beyond slow. Unfortunately when it comes to milking a manga seriesyou have to strike while the iron is hot. Kishimoto's Naruto is being milked to the extreme for maximum profit atm with movies/ merchandise and what not.
@cheagleable Of course you're well aware of that but imagine if Kishimoto took his Naruto series hostage and demanded that he gets double or triple of what he's currently paid to continue naruto or he'll stop doing it. Odds are the company will pay him whatever amount it is he wants knowing they could make atleast 50 times more than that what they pay him. The point I'm making here is that Kishimoto could very well get away with doing this, Togashi can't without a doubt.
@cheagleable Actually the point was to say the longer the series goes on for without year long hiatuses the more popular and valuable it gets as a series, not just to the author/artist of said manga, but to everyone else involved with it whether they're making the next naruto movie etc. It's like Naruto's the sun and everyone who makes money off of it revolves around it. The last thing they would want is for that sun to blow up or stop shining.
@cheagleable I can't remember how many times Hunter x Hunter has blown up or has gone inactive but i can tell you, if Togashi had kept going without the year long breaks, he would have made a lot more money as compared to just coming back now.

But, Gon wasn't a skilled fighter from the beginning, he was only a smart and charismatic guy (like Naruto, but that's not rare). He didn't know his mom and he still doesn't (what are you saying?). Akatsuki are lame in comparison to Genei Ryodan, but again, those kinds of organisations aren't rare.
@betsunosekai Then what's about Sasuke and Kurapika/Killua... They have A LOT in common, and those points really could be called a rip-off. First of all, as it was mentioned, Sharingan = Scarlet Eyes (Damn Kishimoto! At least change the color!) Then, the only survivor of his clan. And, lastly, the desire to avenge his clan. That's it for Kurapika. As for Killua, they're both prodigies from elite assasin families, they both hate older brothers and both use lightnings. Is that few?
@ZonikStrike First of all, Sasuke was doing chidori a lot earlier than us learning that Killua had the nen lightning element specialty, so if anything that was a Togashi shot back using Killua, but he's not supposed to be the one being compared to Sasuke...the brothers thing is a long shot also. Hating brothers, considering Itachi was his only sibling and trying to save Sasuke and Killua has like 5 brothers who actually are insane and evil, these are completely different too.
@betsunosekai I could say that Killua was shown in interaction with lightnings in Heaven's Arena arc already but meh, that doesn't count. Okay, the first mention was about the time they entered GI, volume 13 that is. Time of release - November, 2001, and I guess the chapter was much earlier as Togashi was going hiatus at about that time. The first use of Chidori by Kakashi was in volume 8 (August 2001), while the chapter I think was released about the same time with HxH's chaps.
@betsunosekai That said, Sasuke was training Chidori much later, and of course after it was mentioned in HxH that Killua is Lightning type. Don't remember if he was using anything reminding lightnings in York Shin arc, but if he was, we could say for sure HxH was first. For now I dunno.
@betsunosekai What about the brothers... Well, Killua does hate only Illumi. He never was shown in interaction with Kalluto, and I don't think he would hate him. He actually loves Alluka (I hope she's a she huh) and Milluki doesn't annoy him too much, he was even lotsa help in YS arc. Sasuke still hated Itachi, It's a great thing Kishimoto changed the story, though. I still think they have a lot in common. +Kurapika
@JoshMr07 Naruto's author stole ideas from a whole lot of other animes/mangas sadly he even used a character in his brothers manga (666) as his concept for Kisame, i guess nothing is sacred to him. Then again Tite Kubo did the same thing with Yu Yu Hakusho.
@JoshMr07 AND have you noticed how freakishly similar the Chuunin Exam and the Hunter Exam are?? Kurapika trumps Sasuke, too. ^^ In EVERY way. @sakugu130 Hunter x Hunter started its serialization in 1998, Naruto came a year later. While Naruto's pilot chapter came a year before Hunter x Hunter's serialization, Sasuke, the Uchiha clan and Sharingan were not introduced.

Phinx's Ripper Cyclotron, I suppose, is like a hundred times more powerful than his regular punch!!! It destroyed his chimera ant opponent instantly while his regular punch did not hurt it at all! I wanna see Spiders vs Ants in OVA!!!!!
Razor was sort of amazed with the Spiders when he saw them in GI... That means even Coltopi (the weakest in physical strength) is also strong... People often judge that Coltopi is not good in fighting because his Hatsu ability is "useless." Then what about Bisuke's ability? It's not useful in a fight either, but Bisuke uses other aspects of nen when battling. Maybe the same goes for Coltopi.
Gon, Killua, and Leorio were Kurapica's sidekicks in this season... I hope Gon and Killua would cross paths with the spiders again so that we can see if they could match the strong ones like Phinks and Feitan...
Given where the manga has cut off at this moment there's little doubt they'd at least be competitive...their strength gain from this arc until the current point in the chimera ant arc is ludicrous; Gon/Killua at that point can probably beat Killua at this point in the show easily (especially given his restrictions, though that's always an issue because powers are very balanced in this story). You gotta feel bad for Leorio though, he's just fallen behind...
Yeah I think anybody in the Ryodan would have mopped him easily...but then so would the version of Gon that's many times stronger than greed island too...On greed island he couldn't even us Jajanken properly yet, let alone fight with the ants. Killua goes crazy too; he would easily own Kurapica w/o chain jail at the current point in the manga IMO.
@TheMelnTeam So Gon and Killua were lucky enough that they didn't encounter Phinx and Feitan in Greed Island? Those two Spiders were killing every player they encounter to steal their cards. I guess Bisuke is not strong enough to defend them from Ryodan if ever there would be an encounter...
Yeah that never happens on GI. Bisuke might be as good as ONE spider, but that's always the problem, isn't it? There never seems to be ONE spider that lets him/herself get picked off easily, especially after Ubo was killed.
Nen has interesting rules, such that even the stronger person in existence is vulnerable to certain techniques...and the spider has some balance as an organization. No one person is going to just steamroll that...
@TheMelnTeam that's right... I hope the Spiders would return soon on the manga as soon as the author lifts it off from hiatus... Although I don't like Kalluto and Hisoka that much... I think Hisoka is too arrogant... He's too confident that he can beat Kuroro... He also mentioned that he wants to fight Netero...
But the story SUGGESTS we'll see Hisoka v Kuroro...and I wouldn't rule Hisoka out. Hisoka won't fall for getting his ability stolen (Kuroro needs 4 restrictions to steal a power, and alert nen users have already shown they can avoid them). Without that, the battle would basically be stolen abilities vs bungee gum; it's not clear which of them is better trained either. Hisoka IMO is less "overconfident" and more simply insane.

Unfortunately when it comes to milking a manga seriesyou have to strike while the iron is hot. Kishimoto's Naruto is being milked to the extreme for maximum profit atm with movies/ merchandise and what not.

@cheagleable Of course you're well aware of that but imagine if Kishimoto took his Naruto series hostage and demanded that he gets double or triple of what he's currently paid to continue naruto or he'll stop doing it. Odds are the company will pay him whatever amount it is he wants knowing they could make atleast 50 times more than that what they pay him. The point I'm making here is that Kishimoto could very well get away with doing this, Togashi can't without a doubt.

@cheagleable Actually the point was to say the longer the series goes on for without year long hiatuses the more popular and valuable it gets as a series, not just to the author/artist of said manga, but to everyone else involved with it whether they're making the next naruto movie etc. It's like Naruto's the sun and everyone who makes money off of it revolves around it. The last thing they would want is for that sun to blow up or stop shining.

And it really even brings more light to the thought knowing him and Kishimoto are good friends..so to what you stated in that reply, I'm sure he would have made more money without the hiatus' ,but since Naruto is actually close to ending syndication, it is probable the goal was to become the new top series too.

@betsunosekai Yeah, I agree, first points couldn't be called a rip-off, cuz almost every shounen battle manga has them, that's like a tradition... But, Gon wasn't a skilled fighter from the beginning, he was only a smart and charismatic guy (like Naruto, but that's not rare). He didn't know his mom and he still doesn't (what are you saying?). Akatsuki are lame in comparison to Genei Ryodan, but again, those kinds of organisations aren't rare.

@betsunosekai Then what's about Sasuke and Kurapika/Killua... They have A LOT in common, and those points really could be called a rip-off. First of all, as it was mentioned, Sharingan = Scarlet Eyes (Damn Kishimoto! At least change the color!) Then, the only survivor of his clan. And, lastly, the desire to avenge his clan. That's it for Kurapika. As for Killua, they're both prodigies from elite assasin families, they both hate older brothers and both use lightnings. Is that few?

@ZonikStrike First of all, Sasuke was doing chidori a lot earlier than us learning that Killua had the nen lightning element specialty, so if anything that was a Togashi shot back using Killua, but he's not supposed to be the one being compared to Sasuke...the brothers thing is a long shot also. Hating brothers, considering Itachi was his only sibling and trying to save Sasuke and Killua has like 5 brothers who actually are insane and evil, these are completely different too.

@betsunosekai I could say that Killua was shown in interaction with lightnings in Heaven's Arena arc already but meh, that doesn't count. Okay, the first mention was about the time they entered GI, volume 13 that is. Time of release - November, 2001, and I guess the chapter was much earlier as Togashi was going hiatus at about that time. The first use of Chidori by Kakashi was in volume 8 (August 2001), while the chapter I think was released about the same time with HxH's chaps.

@betsunosekai That said, Sasuke was training Chidori much later, and of course after it was mentioned in HxH that Killua is Lightning type. Don't remember if he was using anything reminding lightnings in York Shin arc, but if he was, we could say for sure HxH was first. For now I dunno.

@betsunosekai What about the brothers... Well, Killua does hate only Illumi. He never was shown in interaction with Kalluto, and I don't think he would hate him. He actually loves Alluka (I hope she's a she huh) and Milluki doesn't annoy him too much, he was even lotsa help in YS arc. Sasuke still hated Itachi, It's a great thing Kishimoto changed the story, though. I still think they have a lot in common. +Kurapika

@JoshMr07 Naruto's author stole ideas from a whole lot of other animes/mangas sadly he even used a character in his brothers manga (666) as his concept for Kisame, i guess nothing is sacred to him. Then again Tite Kubo did the same thing with Yu Yu Hakusho.

Razor was sort of amazed with the Spiders when he saw them in GI... That means even Coltopi (the weakest in physical strength) is also strong... People often judge that Coltopi is not good in fighting because his Hatsu ability is "useless." Then what about Bisuke's ability? It's not useful in a fight either, but Bisuke uses other aspects of nen when battling. Maybe the same goes for Coltopi.

Given where the manga has cut off at this moment there's little doubt they'd at least be competitive...their strength gain from this arc until the current point in the chimera ant arc is ludicrous; Gon/Killua at that point can probably beat Killua at this point in the show easily (especially given his restrictions, though that's always an issue because powers are very balanced in this story). You gotta feel bad for Leorio though, he's just fallen behind...

Yeah I think anybody in the Ryodan would have mopped him easily...but then so would the version of Gon that's many times stronger than greed island too...On greed island he couldn't even us Jajanken properly yet, let alone fight with the ants. Killua goes crazy too; he would easily own Kurapica w/o chain jail at the current point in the manga IMO.

Yeah that never happens on GI. Bisuke might be as good as ONE spider, but that's always the problem, isn't it? There never seems to be ONE spider that lets him/herself get picked off easily, especially after Ubo was killed.
Nen has interesting rules, such that even the stronger person in existence is vulnerable to certain techniques...and the spider has some balance as an organization. No one person is going to just steamroll that...

But the story SUGGESTS we'll see Hisoka v Kuroro...and I wouldn't rule Hisoka out. Hisoka won't fall for getting his ability stolen (Kuroro needs 4 restrictions to steal a power, and alert nen users have already shown they can avoid them). Without that, the battle would basically be stolen abilities vs bungee gum; it's not clear which of them is better trained either. Hisoka IMO is less "overconfident" and more simply insane.
