morons... im clever no science nut ut clever enough to know that this was a waste of time....what did they find out exactly then ...do they know how "it all began"..or were its going,or why it does what it does....NO . so more money ..my hard earned money on nothing..can this machine stop terror..NO can it cure cancer ..NO so all you science wannabestake note if this was such a great experiment then why arnt we reaping the benefits now ...ha ha coms will take over eventualy anyway ha
This will not bring about the end of the world... GET OVER IT! Cosmic rays are far more energetic than this experiment and we are bombarded by those all the time. This is safe, it's useful and we should be celebrating mankind's ability to devise and engineer such an experiment.
gash3 yes maybe to scientists ..im not into science and i dont care about the big bang or Quartz..and protons..why because were here and thats that "the gratest trick the devil ever pulled ,was convincing the world he didnt exsist"...the less we know about something the more compelling it is..
THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS IT COST 3.4BILLION TO FIND OUT BASICLY ABOUT PARTICALS AND COULD POTENTIALY END THE WORLD...scientists think there intelligent
@LegendKiller252 the LHC poses no danger to anybody or anything. The extreme conditions that it creates are confined to such a small space and they only alst for such tiny fragments of time that the energy will dissipate before it has any chance of harming anything.
@LegendKiller252 Then the devil is a great magician indeed because I am 100% certain he (she, it) does not exist. Previous research into these particles you think are so unimportant has given us transistors (thus the computer you are reading this on), lasers (which read your DVDs and CDs, perform eye surgery, thwart the imperial army. etc) amongst countless other things. The fact is we never know what's around the corner so to assume this is money poorly spent is dangerously presumptuous.
@BonseBalm ..so what could we possibly have now that we need ..as you stated "computers,DVD, Cds" dont you see ..your prob a science nut so you wont understand about life and what we live in 3.4bill could have gone on sorting our Epidemics(Jobs,Homeless,Crime,Terror,pollution,...need i go on .
The fact is.the clip even states its sole purpose is of this machine is to find out how the earth began.. and we wonder why the economy throughout the world is in tatters
@LegendKiller252 How the earth began? What clip have you been watching? 3.4bil wouldn't even sort out our banking crisis. If you are looking for wasted money, look at the banks, military and whatever it cost your government to pay your science teacher's wages. There are applications to medicine brought by this type of research already saving money. E.g. tumors are destroyed by particle therapies which cost far less than it would cost to keep people alive on expensive drugs that don't work well.
@BonseBalm ..at 6:01 "this wiil help to find out how the univrse began"(i said earth lol) military ok then cut the military funding(you stated its wasting money ) then the tech thats been descovered by this machine will be useless..less people to operate said tech. This type of reserch, or reserch from this £3.4b machine(be specific)further more regardles of youself sounding(and prob are) more intelligent then me,the basic facts remain..what as of 2011has this thing accomplished(the facts please)
@LegendKiller252 You seem to have the right idea about what needs to be solved but don't you see that science and technology help? Without tech we wouldn't have the weapons or intelligence to fight terror & crime. Pollution is helped by better, cleaner technologies for power such as nuclear fusion (which has already received help from LHC in the cooling required). New technologies bring new products and therefore feed the economy and generate jobs reducing the number of people who are homeless.
@BonseBalm ..basicly meaning to find out about the universe..nothing has been or will be mentioned about using this machine to help the existance of life on this planet.. it about figuring out "out of this world matters"
you know more about this then me ,so you tell me what this machine will ..not could ..but will do to change the problems we face now ,not in 100 yrs(i reserched that also..CERN scientists said that about the machine)
@LegendKiller252 Just one last thing... I wish I could meet up with you to show you some of the stuff that this experiment has already given us and is showing signs of giving us. I don't usually get into debates on YouTube because the asynchronous and limited communication means leads to clumsiness and misinterpretation. For this reason I'm going to leave you to your own devices on this but you are wrong. I'm sure there's someone local to you that can explain the terms you mentioned? Good luck!
@BonseBalm ..i understand its hard for you to agree ..its like you telling me Muhammad Ali wasnt the gretest of all time...Yoo would need good evidence to support that ..i believe iv given enough to support that outside the science lab(the regular peeps like me) this is a big waste of time ,and not benificial to us right now
@LegendKiller252 I do disagree with you. Can I ask you, and the regular peeps like you, to do me one favor. Please research this, research what particle and quantum physics has given us so far. If you just spend a couple of hours, you don't need to know the science, you don't have to understand how these things have come about but please just read up on this stuff. I can't change your mind in these limited character statements so let the evidence change/open your mind. Peace.
Funny how science and government have spent not billions but likely trillions on this project, all with one aim in mind to prove the big bag theory, which this monstrosity fails to do!
The very same Governments that promote death, war and terrorism mind you!
As for the Scientists, they are just feathering their own nests at the expense of those who think this piece of useless hoax equipment is necessary for human development. LMAO
@kryckeestrooff o dear god you are stupid. Yes it will create something similar to the big bang but thats not the main reason its being done. The main reason is to break up the atoms in order to analyse the quartz. We know alot about quartz already but its the higgins quartz we know little about. The higgins quartz is the one that is supposed to provide mass to atoms. If we can get a better understanding then we can start solving things like why mass produces gravity.
wow they made a Giant glow stick, its a good thing this will not blow up under the cities they build this thing under, seems like a big waste of money because this is not outter space just a lab and a lab is not the setting for what is in space because none of you know what else is out in space so you can not recreate how the big bang works, what a waste of money, billions for this when you could have made space ships to go out into space, what a joke these people are
@space.. retarded? please tell me your comment is meant in jest? do you have no concept of what this thing does? WE ARE IN SPACE NOW! just because we have an atmosphere doesn't mean we aren't on a body floating in space you are retarded, i bet when they said they were gonna put a satellite in space you would have said "but no matter how high i throw something it will always come back, doesn't work "drags knuckles" what a joke..things that take place out THERE have mostly been discovered IN HERE
@SpaceMan131326 oh and btw its about what technology we have, do you think that if they spent 2 billion on building space ships its gonna mean a genius invents warp speed or something? you have no concept of how the real world works...you think the government paid god to create einstein?
this was in the movie angels and demons with tom hanks, you see how they condition us for something to come in the future by using the media, internet and movies or is it just me?
I remember the whole media craze surrounding the opening of the LHC. The media was pretty successful convincing the general public that it was going to generate black holes and other doom particles. At least it got science into the public eye for a little while. I know enough people asked me myriad questions about it, so that's good that it sparked people's imaginations at least.
"I am sorry to say that there is too much point to the wisecrack that life is extinct on other planets because their scientists were more advanced than ours."
Plus it already operated and nothing happened, and never will. Do you realize the amount of energy needed to create a stable black hole powerful enough to say what you guys think this will do? Not even a normal star like ours is capable of making such a thing, and you think we are going to do it? Ha ha, trust me, we're pretty pathetic compared to those levels of energy.
And the main reason are doing these experiment to find how the bing bang happened, check it in google how long the diameter of the tube is very thick tube and they claim our worls will be destroyed not sure
yes, and this is located between it surounds all the way from france to switzerland and i think 8 more countries want to join it in europe. 7 scientist are working on it and they said it will create 9 new dimensions very powerfull and will use a lot of electricity run this.

@BonseBalm lol my science teacher,im 30 yrs old ha sorry for my attitude ,iv done a little reserch myself and the main 3 purposes of the machine are
."Is supersymmetry, an extension of the Poincaré symmetry, realised in nature, implying that particles have supersymmetric partners"
. "What is the nature of the dark matter that appears to account for 23% of the mass of the universe"
and finaly ..Physicists hope that the LHC will help answer some of the fundamental open questions in physics

"some critics say that this could create a black hole and could be the end of the world.."
None of those critics are scientists. any black holes created will be ultramicroscopic and evaporate instantly.
We're hit by more powerful cosmic rays constantly.
