Pro Tools is massively overrated, just about any other program is easier to use and has a much better layout , not to mention wayyyyy more versatility.
@GRowNiceProductions true. i bought pt8. i also use fl studio. was naive to the fact that protools doesnt recognize vst's. which is bullshit. and i got that fxpansion wrapper and it only works with certain plugs. im about to sell my pt8 and get cubase or something that readily uses vst format.
People are actually still debating which DAW is better??? they are all the same...There is no music you can create in pro tools that you can't create in logic, pro tools, fl studio (9 and up), or ableton. The only DAW that really limit you are ones like reason who want to keep all the money for themselves and now allow any vst's. The fact of the matter is the best DAW is the one you know the best. Try putting a Pro tools producer on logic and see if he can create the same music or vice versa
ive been trying to figure out if i need a MIDI keybored to play with a VST plugin...or if i could just assign the vst to the ol' computer keybored..ya know like garage band for the mac....????
you can go to the digidesin page and find the update to make everything compatible with your leopard system. if you have the pro tools 8 upgrade by now then you should not have any problems at all.
@Jenxiio that's a bad statement. i use pro tools, i have used cubase since sx3 and the last time i saw cubase they have so many thing's that PT can't do. like the region volume boost which is similar to drawing automation volume in PT but is different in the fact the that your not just pushing the fader up but you are raising the gain or lowering it (whatever case may be). and PT took off the OMF option and you must buy it on a separate bundle for another 2G's that's so studpid.
but honestly both programs are fairly limited in terms of starting instruments... ableton has some pretty cool free downloads on their website which GREATLY increase the options available to you..
I just loaded in all the Fruity Loops plugins into Live. There's a fair few reasonable plugins with FL Studio 7. I'm a huge Live fan, I use it quite literally, in live applications, whereas I use Pro Tools in the studio.
i still cant figure out how to put my plug-ins for example "classic compressors" into protools at all. they came with my mbox free . so are they vst or rtas or whatever? i tryed to drag the install icon into my plug-ins folder then install them but it didnt seem to help. nothing new popped up in my audiosuite or inserts when i started up protools. do i need an i lok key for this? someone please HELP!#!
I'm sorry, you are mistaken. The "Classic Compressors Bundle" does NOT come with a standard LE or M-Powered setup (Mbox/Mbox2/002/003).. The Digirack and Free Bomb factory series plug-ins that DO come with a system like that should be installed automatically when Pro Tools is installed. Licenses to use those other plug-ins are sold separately, Classic Compressors is around $595- for instance.
Sounds like a good thing. What I'd like to know is will my VST plugins still work with my other DAW? I'm using Sonar 6.0 and ProTools LE 7, both, on my PC.
This video should elaborate on this VST wrapper not fully doing it's job. A better wrapper would ensure all the VST plugins it wraps work in Pro Tools. A LOT of these wrapped VST plugins crash pro tools.
so basically you have to pay $99, to get thousands of plug ins, FOR "FREE". -_-

Why don't you just use a DAW that has VST support and isn't proprietary or hardware-tied in the first place?

What does he mean 'ships with reason and ableton'?
Does that mean, if I bought an 003, I'd get LE, Reason and Ableton legitimately? Surely not...

no, u dont need this if you want to do that. u can record ur piano directly to protools. this is only for vst's.

ooooooooo

No You could just go direct. I think the motif has a s/pdif output and an adat one as well.
