  • Hey man, Good review. its nice seeing people give a real review.

  • I have that same wedding ring. =) Thanks for the review. Seems not many have anything negative to say about the PPQ so looks like I need to get one.

  • How does it de-cock?

  • @happyending3000 It doesn't.

  • I never slide a pistol back by squeezing the slide between my four fingers and the palm of my hand (like you do throughout this video). It feels easier, but you don't have a good grip on the slide and you have to draw the pistol in close to your chest to get the angle to slide in that way. That may be why you had the issue you did with the serration. Instead, pull the slide back by grasping it the way you were about to do it at 4:24. It takes some getting used to, but it's actually proper.

  • I.e., the way you did it at 4:30.

  • @HikageMaru Actually, it's not 'propper' The way he does it is the way almost every combat / defense trainer will teach you. (1) It is almost the same way you would clear a stove pipe type malfunction and doing it the same way builds muscle memory. (2) if your hands are wet / cold / or dexterity is decreased from adrenaline or wearing gloves, a full over the top grip is less likely to slip.To each his own though, whatever works for you.

  • @kstangent I didn't spell proper as 'propper.' Regardless, working the action as I described is how it's taught in the United States Army. And it allows you to work the action while keeping the business end downfield, rather than pointed it to the left, as people tend to do. But I agree that I will open the slide as you say to clear a stove pipe because it's easier to tilt the chamber down to drop the spent case.

  • So is this thing REALLY that much better than a good old Glock 19? I understand the trigger reset is short, but the Glock's doesn't seem to be much longer. What gun would you choose if you could have only one?

  • Great review. I actually shot the PPQ 9mm at a range yesterday. Rented it out. Gun felt great, my target shots were very impressive. Didn't test .40 cal, but since this is going to be my 1st purchase, i'm sticking with the 9mm for now. Has anyone shot the .40 PPQ? Any big difference compared to the 9mm? thanks.

  • Went to range for first time with PPQ .40 tonight. The raving reviews are spot on. I had a shit eating grin the whole time and that trigger..., oh my that trigger. This is definitely the best factory trigger in my stable. This is now my primary carry gun. It was dead on nuts accurate from the factory as well.

  • which one would you prefer among P99 an PPQ

  • ur a master jedi!!!! its obvious from ur huge (green) lightsaber lol

  • I believe Walther isn't including the front sights for 2 reasons, cost cutting and the fact they already have it sighted from the factory. Check out the included target, if it's shooting to the point of aim they probably wouldn't have bothered putting them in. On some I heard about the target looked a little wack so they throw them in (in case it's the shooters eyes or whatever) Some have it, some don't depends on what the factory deems needed.

  • I heard that walthers were really a bitch to clean. You didnt mention cleaning at all in the video, what do you think about the cleaning of it?

  • First off great review and nice gun. I am intersted in buying one but I have heard its simular in size of the Glock 19. The 19 is too small for me so is the grip was larger than the Glock 19?

  • does the PPQ feature a decocking button/lever that could be found on the first and second gen models of the P99?

  • Have you had a chance to shoot the .40S&W variant of the PPQ?

  • If you cant remember when you have a loaded chamber or not,, you should not operate a firearm as you are too careless and your situation will most likely end in a tragedy! For those who have problems with the chamber indicator!

  • how do you like the sights? I haven't gotten my hands on this gun yet and I wanna know if they're good on their own or if they may need some better sights. I'm primarily after it just as a range gun so I want something precise, not necessarily fast to acquire.

  • Good review. A friend let me know about this model when I said I was interested in a P99, and I think I'm going to have to go with the PPQ. Not that I needed a review, the Walther name is generally* enough to inspire confidence in their guns.

*That being said, I've read LOTS of bad things about the P22.

  • I just picked up a PPQ...does the recoil spring touch the bottom of the barrel when the spring is compressed? Mine seems to be leaving scuff marks on my barrel...

  • Looks awesome, and I'll probably get one, but I wonder if getting used to that super short reset would cause you problems going back to any other handgun with a standard length reset.

  • how will the ppq 9mm hold +p+ ammo?

  • Dude! Pick up your dirty clothes off the floor.

  • These changes first made their combined appearance in the Walther P99 RAD, a P99 variant made under contract to the Polish military

  • will it fit in P99 holsters?

  • @WinchesterRange lol haters always find something to ragg on when they're hating

  • How about a IWB holster for it ?

  • Does the PPQ have a decocker the same as the P99?

  • @jmh5639 The PPQ doesn't need a decocker. The striker is always fully cocked. Unlike a double-action pistol or a Glock-style striker, pulling the trigger does not complete the cocking cycle. It merely unblocks the sear holding back the striker. It is essentially a single-action pistol. That is why the PPQ has such a great trigger. It has only one thing to do, and it does it very well.

  • I think I'd replace just one thing, your carpet.

  • What's your thoughts regarding the trigger reset travel on the PPQ versus a Glock?

  • @kneedeepinzombieshit The Glock trigger has a great reset, the PPQ trigger has an insanely short reset. It's also very crisp and positive. You cannot miss the click.

  • Dude..pick up your dirty clothes on the floor :)

  • i like it, may trade in my PPS .40 towards it

  • Yea I flinch all the darn time, and dont like the ergonomics of glock. Loved the ergonomis of the p99. This is my new gun of choice.

  • What's your username on WaltherForums? I'm on there too!

  • Nice review how much ?

  • 7:26 Everything is more fun when its nice and tight! Nice couch BTW

  • hows the accuracy on ppq at like 25 yards?

I like the P99 but want to give the PPQ a chance to a possible as my to go pistol.

How about the reliability? I know the P99 is like mud/sand/ice proof. lol

Its new and still have little info in it.

  • @FirstPistolSammy I was shooting in the other video at 25 yards and I was probably 10% more accurate than I am with my Glock 19, and I fully attribute that to the easier trigger pull. It's not failed one me once, however if you limp-wrist at all the slide won't lock back on the final shot, but that's technique, not the gun.

  • @hardataq

Nice lol, i know accuracy is kinda subjective varies to person to person.

Hmm, still torn between P99AS and PPQ,

  • @FirstPistolSammy Go with and AS. PPQ is just a updated to the P99 QA. You have restriking ability with and AS. I own an AS and love it.

  • Thank you for the review, excellent coverage of the Walther PPQ!

  • transponder is an electronic tracking device so the governemnt can look up the serial number abd find yo ass whenever they want. same tech is used in racing to track laps

  • I have NEVER heard of a pistol coming with spare (different height) front sights. Just FYI.

  • @adamkajones My Sig Mosquito came with 3 different height front sights. Not saying it's common, but it happens.

  • Is the manual wrong about field stripping these? Its says to pull the trigger then push the two clips down then pull but the clips only go down if the gun is cocked

  • thanks for the video man. i have a walther pk380 and have been looking to upgrade and this one looks very nice. one question though, once it's in single action mode (with the short trigger reset) how does one get it back to double action mode, if they wanted to holster the weapon? thanks in advance.

  • @barcelnj Just release the trigger.

  • could you put up a vid showing the procedure of dissasembling the ppq with shots showing the internals?!

  • how is the frame texturing?

  • Comment removed

  • doesnt come with extra front sights,,,i bought the 40 and mine didnt come with any either

  • Great video. I am debating between the new PPQ or a P99AS. Since you have both, which one do you prefer or pick as your first Walter? (BTW, I have many pistols, Glock's, HK's, FN's,SIG's, etc. looking to buy my fist Walther)

Also, are the mags interchangeable between these two pistols?

  • @seedood The second gen P99 mags are compatible with the PPQ, as are SW99 and Baby Desert Eagle Fast Action mags. I just got three magazines from Magnum Research for my PPQ, and they're identical except for the color of the magazine follower (black instead of red), a gloss blue rather than matte blue finish, and the logo on the baseplate. They're both made by Mec-Gar, an Italian company which also makes the magazines for SIG, CZ, and Beretta pistols. Top quality.

  • Great Video , I saw it posted on the Sig Forum. Good Job!!

  • The PPQ is replaceing the P99QA the AS is still to popular to discontue

  • The Website says it comes with adjustable rear and front sights so it should come with extra front sights.

  • Why was your P99 "in the shop"? I have heard of others having problems with theirs...do you foresee the same issues with the PPQ? I appreciate your review and input on this

  • @arcteryxbird The striker safety wasn't disengaging maybe 10% of the time in AS mode. It's a very rare problem in comparison to how many P99's are in service around the world, and doesn't shake my confidence in carrying it at all. S&W has insane customer service, and they had my gun to them within a day and are working on it right now, should have it back shortly. Given that the PPQ doesn't have the AS trigger, I don't foresee it being a problem with this.

  • @hardataq Went with an HK in 40. Got a killer deal on it....I'll pick up a Walther in 9 next time!

  • Thank you so much for putting this video out bro. I saw the youtube shot show video on the PPQ and it made me adopt the youtube name I have now lol. I'm waiting for my NYC permit and this gun what i'm looking at. Are the frame rails removable and serviceable like with the FNX9 or M&P9?

  • @PPQ9GUNNER It's a blast, man. I've had a ton of fun with it, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it when you get it! Not sure on the frame rails.

  • Thinking about picking up one of these...do you ever carry? How would you feel having one in the chamber with it on your hip?

  • @arcteryxbird Yep, I carry every day! I didn't necessarily buy this gun for carry, but I'm sure I will on occasion, and I'd feel perfectly fine carrying condition 1 with this gun. I feel like in a SHTF situation, if I had to fire from a distance I would honestly prefer this gun over any others, I'm just more accurate with it. However for conceal carry I carry the P99cAS.

  • @hardataq Cool. Have you shot an HK P30 or P2000? I'm looking at both of those as well, but I like the price point of the PPQ better (obviously) and the trigger mechanism. I've never owned a Walther or an HK so I'm looking for the best option out of both of those manufacturers.

If you're going with Walther, is there a great reason to go with a P99AS over the PPQ?

  • @arcteryxbird I haven't fired either of those before, but I believe a friend is getting an HK USP compact within the next couple days, that's about the closest I can get for comparison sadly.

As far as the P99AS over the PPQ, the main difference would be price. You could easily save a lot by going with the P99AS and you'd still be in love with it. They're both fantastic guns with excellent trigger systems and features. I'll do a more in-depth comparison once my P99 comes back from S&W.
