  • @PavleCar1 Right click a green space on malstrom, select "Initialize Patch"

  • @vursomusic ok thanks and another question when you at 5:53 what are you loading up?

  • @PavleCar1 A kick drum sample from Danny Byrd's sample pack, the kick was called Superkick. It was in .wav format and I was loading it into Redrum.

  • @vursomusic where do you get it from?

  • @PavleCar1 You can buy the sample pack online or search around... You can eq / compress other kicks to sounds just as punchy, just experiment!

  • Awesome tut man, I'm a total noob when it comes to Reason, this has helped me alot!

  • You can add an automation to your bass wobbles by right clicking on the nob/switch etc. and clicking add automation, then draw your rates using edit mode...

  • i've set up everything like yours....and clearly im new to this...so i dont know how to fix it but my sound doesnt sound anything like yours and it sounds very high pitch, i messed with everything to get it to sound right but nothing is working, mind helping? i can even show you a vid if needed

  • where can i get the drum sounds?:)

  • I have a question. How did you get the modulator B rate to go in 1/8 and 3/16 beats and so on?

  • I can't find Init Patch in Malström. Could anyone help me?

  • @Verziend Right click malstrom > Initialize Patch. It will be there ;)

  • @vursomusic thanks! i found it and now it's a real dubstep track! :)

  • I've been working with another DAW for about three years, and I'm kind of just bored with it, and Reason is one of the DAW's I'm looking into. Does Reason support VST?

  • @Official3030Dubstep Unfortunately, Reason does not support VST (I'm unsure if version 6 has VST capabilities but I am pretty certain it doesn't.) There is a solution though, If your other DAW can be "ReWired" then you can basically connect the two softwares, meaning you could have VST's open in your current DAW, while sequencing and making synths / drum patterns in Reason. It's a little more complicated than simply connecting them though, there are plenty of tutorials out there. Hope i helped.

  • Found it -.- I feel like a tard.

  • I can't find that super kick sample in any of the Danny Byrd packages I got, even the Nu-Wave one you click on. :(

  • Cool - it's always good to see what other people do with the software, the tip I liked was connecting each drum sound to independent fx!!! Nice one bruvva

  • i cant hear anything in redrum... why? :(

everything worked but redrum didnt... :(

  • "BE CREATIVE!" I totally agree! :D thanks so much for this video!

  • Your my dubstep tutorial hero

  • dude wheres that on screen keyboard????

  • hey i was usuin the demo of reason 3. it says my audio cardis off, and i cant hear anything, is that because its the demo? or is it my audio card? help?

  • @NeighborhoodSonAlec Hey. COuld you elaborate a bit? It shouldn't be Reason that's the problem, have you selected your Sound Card in the preferences? (edit > preferences > audio). Get back to me, -vurso

  • @vursomusic it says theres no audio card in my computer but it will sometimes flash that there is one, but i still cant hear anything when i select it.

  • @NeighborhoodSonAlec my shit does the same when my laptop goes to sleep, what vurso said will fix it. i have reason 5 but i think it will be the same.

  • That was awesome, mind=blown.

  • The bass sounds cool, but does the sub come through if you bandpass it?

  • my first creation in reason woooho! i'm proud lmao, but dude how do i safe this i mean i know how to export and shit but don't we need to write those notes in the timeline ?

  • @xwiNtz ya u can just go on and hit the record button... get some notes in the sequenzer and do some automations with the rate and stuff... just be creative

  • Thank you dude.. this is what I have been looking for!

  • I fucking hate it when people say they are putting the link in the description and never do.

  • howmuch is reason 5??

  • @LitrentaProductions i hacked it, so free if u do the same

and i cant watch videos and have reason open at the same time for some reason.

  • wtf is the patch.. i cant find it

  • @FlavorRoseDnB there isn't one for this video. check my other vids for free patches.

  • @vursomusic ok thanks cuz i used a dnb bass.. but its not working.

  • the length of the video is 11:11 :DD

  • hey nice, vid. you could save some time and effort if you tossed the drums into a combi with a 6:2 mixer before redrum and then slip the reverb in after the 6:2 which should link it to the aux knobs on the mixer. Then you just route your drums individually from redrum to the mixer channels and you can dial in your reverb to taste with the aux knobs. Just a thought; but again, nice vid, i dig the bass, thanks!

  • when he(you) changed octaves etc. you heard sound samples, but I don't - how come?

  • Why dont you make a video with samples that we can all use?

    not everyone can buy them..

  • @ABSNproduction It isn't hard to find decent samples for free...

  • @vursomusic Would be easier to follow the tutorial if you used the ones that came with the program though..

    just saying.

  • @ABSNproduction Ok cool I may make a video over the next day or two using the built in drum samples, thanks for the feedback :)

  • @vursomusic ahh awesome, ill sub then!

  • what was the patch you used in malstrom?

  • what id like to know is how to get Init Patch. someone plz tell me cant find it

  • @Infernox6 wtf?! trolling?! rightlick malstrom and init that patch

  • @c0reee lol sorry im a noob. i figured it out myself.

  • @Infernox6 You have to right click it and press initialize patch. thats all init patch is

  • how DO YOU DO ONSCREEN KEYBOARD!@#!@

  • @DubstepFourLife Hit F4 / F5 (I can't remember which as I am at college. Only available in Reason 5...)

  • @MrSmellyelly That was me writing under MrSmellyElly, my friend left his account logged in on youtube and I forgot haha...

  • Solid tutorial, actually the best one I've seen for Malstrom. It's a very powerful synth, but not quite as intuitive as Sub or Thor, so a lot of people shy away from it. I'm already pretty advanced with LFOs, I was mainly watching this for new ideas of synthesizing/processing harder bass sounds. I've been making house/trance/techno in reason for 5 years, and now I'm trying to experiment with some grimier styles. Very helpful, thanks a lot for putting this together!

  • this is sick. i just need to learn how to assign the knobs on my midi controller to the rate and wave lengths

  • i got no drum samples or any samples at all please help!
