It had to be more like 3:00 AM Eastern, because MxO ended at around 12:03 AM Pacific, which is three hours ahead of Eastern. I'm in Central, I was there for the end and my last timestamped video (recorded briefly before MxO died) was at 2:02:59 AM.

(I'll have to put that video in m video-in-progress somewhere...near the end, of course. :-/ )

@XsniperPro1 Noone really knows for sure but the lack of post-acquisition support brought on by a lack of funding and a rocky code base by Monolith meant the game bled dry over a number of years. As the player base declined and the developers left SOE refocussed it's attention on it's core portfolio of games and MxO was no more. It was sad to be sure; the game had so much potential and had things been different it could've been a real contender in the space. Oh well.

I respect that there are fans of this game, and I liked The Matrix, but I played the open beta of the MMORPG a long time ago and it wasn't anything special. I felt a bit like I was playing a "everyone's trying to be Neo" game. And the freedom was later vastly outshined when City of Heroes came around.

I would say so, yes. If you're a fan of the films, the storyline can be intriguing and the RP experience enjoyable. As for how long, it really depends on how you play. The one piece of golden advice with MxO, don't rush.

The game is still populated, although not as much as WoW or any others like that. If your looking for the most populated server, Syntax is the way to go, if your looking for some PvP, Vector is where you should go.
