  • Skaters today are too busy focussing on how many jumping revolutions they can cram in they have forgotten the quality and artistry of true figure skating

  • @pelicanus11 You're an idiot, and you don't know anything about skating, making retarded comments like that. Like Janet Lynn, Yuka's skating was PURE and effortless, skilled skating. There's nothing to copy, idiot! They both had the fundamentals of skating down pat.

  • just beautiful. She is Diva.

  • Everything about her skating is exceptional... Looking at this performance, by the way, it is clear that Alissa Szisny (whom Yuka currently coaches) has been quickly picking up on some of the special qualities of Yuka's skating--now that Yuka's her new coach! Good for her.

  • So reminiscent of Dorothy Hamil in style and presentation.

  • IMO, she's got the best edges in the sport. Very light, precise and effortless when she skates.

  • If she had kids, they would be great skaters.

  • Stunning. But it would be great if you corrected the title of your vid to "Afternoon of a Faun." This music and the poem refer to "any of a group of rural deities represented as having the body of a man and the horns, ears, tail, and sometimes legs of a goat," not a baby deer.

Yes, this is Janet Lynn's signature music. John Curry had a fabulous program to it as well. Also, Charlene Wong won a pro competition to this music.

  • I am SO overjoyed to see this piece without commentary....THANK YOU! Absolutely gorgeous skate...one of the best skates of all time...really exquisite

  • speechless..

  • A ballerina on ice!

  • I love Yuka Sato, she's so beautiful to watch, she just seems to float when she skates.

  • She is such a joy to watch. What beautiful music, dress and skating. Her lines, her jumps, especially her loops, and her spins...let alone her edges, just inspire me.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but was this not the competition where Janet Lynn (famous for performing to this piece of music) was one of the judges? I think I remember that being the case, and Yuka was so nervous about performing this that she offered it as a gift to Janet for her contributions to the sport.

    Beautiful skate by Yuka!

  • Yes, that was this performance.

  • I thought that was the Hallmark championship but I may be wrong.

  • the most beautiful and most eloquent skater, ever. Perfection

  • Excelente. Impecable el estilo de Yuka.

  • Thank you for posting all these performances shown on Russian TV. It is so wonderful to watch them without the innane, irrelvant and annoying commentary we get on U.S. broadcasts.
