You know....as an opera singer, my peers ALWAYS made fun of me for the respect I had for this woman. In all honesty, there is no one who has her technical prowess. No one. Because if they did, they'd still be able to sing the way she does at 43 years old. It is not everyday that a person can belt like that and keep the same amount of power and technical proficiency for 20+ years. I LOVE Christina...love her. But she is not going to have the voice she has now when she's 40. Trust me.
@ecl411 for me, it essentially comes back to "quality vs quantity". technique often gets in the way of passion. I'VE never been able to connect with a performer like celine because for me, she comes off too technical...like her main concern is solely hitting the "right note". on the other hand, christina may not have the same vocal prowess in a decade or two, but many of her live performances are seared in my mind, especially "It's a Man's Man's World". Girl sang like it was her dying day.

She is great but no one can hold a candle to James Brown. No performer today is even half as good as he was, i don't care if people say Beyonce, Lady Gaga or whoever. The James Brown 'Man's World' from 1968 that is on Youtube in color from the Apollo (also includes 'Lost Someone' and 'Bewildered') is by far the best..
Neither Celine or Christina's versions touch Renee Geyer's. Renee is the closest to the original intent of the song next to James Brown that I've heard. I've said this before but until people understand that singing with soul is not about the high notes, riffs, and all the other technicalities routed in a more Western European approach to singing, then you'll never understand what it is to sing with soul. BTW, that's where Christina got some of her ideas from when she sang it.

jeez stop with the comparisons. Xtina sings this a very different way. It may appeal to some people but remember music to someone can be noise to another. I personally like Celine's version because its "in my opinion" more emotional whereas Xtina does that growl thing and sings it a little too fast for my taste, it loses some meaning. And before anyone accuses me of "just saying that coz ur a celine fan", wrong. I like mariahs "o holy night" rendition a little more than celines. :) Celine Dion!

@atolm1 Celine records over 30 studio albums during her career ! (started at 12 years old) & she tours every time to support her albums. All this made her voice tired. She is also 42 years old ! I don't why anyone would compare her vocally to christina since christina has a rested voice,not overused & she is only 30 years old.

The exception is someone like Patti LaBelle whos voice is still very powerful but i think thats unusual. There is always someone newer, its just the way it is. I love Celine and Christina but I have loved Celine much longer.

And now she sings this song too. and the worst is she tries to sing like Xtina(those high notes)!! but Xtina is better. The James Brown 'Man's World' from 1968 that is on Youtube in color from the Apollo (also includes 'Lost Someone' and 'Bewildered') is by far the best..

Neither Celine or Christina's versions touch Renee Geyer's. Renee is the closest to the original intent of the song next to James Brown that I've heard. I've said this before but until people understand that singing with soul is not about the high notes, riffs, and all the other technicalities routed in a more Western European approach to singing, then you'll never understand what it is to sing with soul. BTW, that's where Christina got some of her ideas from when she sang it.
