=,D GG.. when some1 who decides to comme up with a cute play and exploit imbalanced units in a strat.... its so beutyful to see someones tactics just shred em to pieces by a few fast decided moves.. love it.. well played again luxury.. who was the hughly favord terran player he beat on destination a while ago? that was a superp show by lux aswell
Man, great play by Luxury! I love seeing mass Mutalisks! I've got to say, I'm surprised at how ineffective those Valkyries were - I was constantly expecting to see Luxury's clouds of mutas explode in a puff of red blood, but he suffered suprisingly few casualties, despite all those area-of-effect hits the Valks kept getting off.
map disadvantage, the cliff and high ground decrease Marines mobiliy to attack muta. Also, the large flanking area in the middle stop terran from pushing out.
wow, i think savior ment to say his famous speach about him not losing and owning all his competitors for luxury instead, not for himself. GG grats for round 1.
i think he lost because the point of a fast vulture build is to either do a run by or prevent the zerg from taking a 3rd gas too early, but lurxury was able to sneak a drone out and plant a hatchery at 9 o clock
Neither Cholera nor Rise mentioned this, but Luxury made a critical decision to get +1 air carapace very early that allowed him to walk all over the valkyries and the rines with late upgrades.
Wow!!! Insane play from Luxury. I want him to win either the msl or osl. He deserves it. Those 2 early lurkers are very crucial and he lost them. After that we d all expect a push from fantasy but that never came because of luxurys insane muta harass. GG for sure
Actually: The more skilled the players, the more the map advantage/disadvantage plays a role. When you have 2 of the best in the world, there is relatively little skill-wise that separates them; therefore other factors are highly influential in determining the outcome of a game. Certain map artifacts or features that favour one race over the other lend themselves especially well to highly skilled players who are most knowledgeable in exploiting this advantage.
It is interesting how the commentators talk about how every little thing makes a difference in games of such a high caliber, but at the same time say that the map statistics don't matter as much.
On the other hand, it is true that the statistics reflect balance at a somewhat different level of play for the most part, and the same features that are unbalancing at one level may or may not be at another. So I suppose there is something to that idea.
Dam, Kasparov didn't even have some old fart to bring him half a a cheap coffee. Chess tournaments need to start adding some of these people for the professionals :O
By the way, I'm sure you both meant that Luxury lost two lurkers to TWO mines, since obviously one mine can't kill a lurker on its own. Just a minor detail.
Technically, because it is more likely that the mines were not located in exactly the same location, and consequently did not activate at the same time, it would actually be correct to say that one mine damaged the lurkers, and one mine killed the lurkers. Therefore it is correct and accurate to say that luxury did lose the two lurkers to a mine.
. . . and therefore if you kill fifteen zerglings with a zealot before it goes down, you lost it to one zergling? What if the last unit in my army is a hydra that gets picked off by a marine. Does this mean I lost my army to a single marine? This is a pretty ridiculous way to interpret that statement. One unit always gets the last hit, but presumably the implication behind saying "He lost his units to a single mine" is not that a single mine got the last hit. That's just stupid.
Consider the correct way to describe the "lurker mine kill"as it relates to the context that the commentators encountered it. Consider that we: 1.Observed 2 vultures planting 4 mines in the middle of the map earlier on. 2.We did not see the number of mines that exploded on the lurkers. From that point of view, its probable that at least 2 mines went off,BUT more could have been involved. The number of mines is unknown and stating 2lurkers were lost to a mine keeps it clean/simple and correct.
you could have spared us the verbiage and said, "we don't know, therefore saying it was one is correct". saves us the time and makes it pretty clear that your point is unconvincing
Thanks. Nice game.

Wow, great game. 21:30 is so awesome, where Luxury lures in the Valkyries with his Mutas and does the perfect Scourge ambush.

Aside from aesthetics and escorting the player to his (or in the case of Tossgirl, her) booth, what are the booth girls supposed to do?

get the players drinks or anything else they need. They act as liasons to the judges and refs for the players too.
