I have fixed the 'going astern' problem with my vega ........ you bungy strap a small electric outboard to the ladder...... hey presto .....stern thruster..... just over £100 $130 ........power it from a spare battery.... problem sorted!!!!!!!!
She is a 1973 Albin Vega 27', full keel Volvo-Penta MD6A , (2 cyl) 10hp diesel inboard engine and she sails like the wind! She is a great coastal cruiser, but can cross Oceans! We have enjoyed her for a couple of years now and keep her in Falmouth Foreside, ME...about 15 minutes north of Portland. Sadly she may be up for sale this spring as we have not been able to use it as much as we had hoped as we have a new one year old baby. Do you sail as well?
Iv been sailing as i was younger, including Albin Vega and Albin Viggen (little sister to vega) now im queing for a boat place in Gothenburg - then il sail again, in a Vega, Viggen or similar boat :).
This is my dream boat and is already in my play to get one soon!

the only bad with this boats is that. you cant controll them when you are backing up (if you have the engine in side)
It's a wonderful boat to sail in if you want to learn to sail.
