  • Yup... we're dying....

  • this is my absolut worst nightare 2 weeks of endless pain

    then the boddy gives up

  • But what happens if i eat one???

  • @Avollis you would obviously have a painful death!

  • The translation of Irukandji is: "Holy fucking shit, why the hell does this exist." That is all.

  • 14 Americans will never go in the sea again

  • thats bullcrap.... a sting from one of these can kill you in 30secs

  • these creatures are so interesting. so beautiful and unique looking and so deadly at the same time. Sea creatures in my opinion or far more interesting than land animals.

  • I love jellyfish D:, they r so cute *-*

  • I look forward to the day we can engineer viruses to eradicate vermin like this organism; fire worms and mosquitoes to name but a few.

  • Don't these things have like 24 eyes around them and they all face into their body at the fish they are digesting?

  • @petrifyer45 Yep. That's correct. Creepy things, they are.

  • The reenactment doesn't even come close to showing you how painful a jellyfish stinging is. It's so agonising you literally can't move as soon as you get stung. It's like getting a tub of frying oil splashed on your body, only much much worse.

  • the ocean is more mysterious along with space.

  • Here's a thought... STAY OUT OF THE WATER!!! Not only is it dangerous, but fish pee there... ewwww!

  • I'm going to name you squishy :)

  • "It seems these jellyfish can exist almost everywhere."

Me: Not in the moon *Yao Ming*

  • scaring people with this bullshit

  • as long as they ain't muslim box jellyfish.....that would REALLY piss me off!!!

  • like a gee

  • Bitch wasted so much morphine!!

  • I want to prove that the sting of this jellyfish can cause extreme pain. Come here son so I can test it on you.

  • He stung his son?! This is why I don't trust doctors.

And why do the big bads always go after tourists? I swim at FNQ beaches almost every weekend and don't know anyone who's ever got stung...Yet Japanese tourists heading for the water might as well be headin' for train tracks. You just know shits goin' down.

  • We have to fight back!!! Nuke the ocean

  • I shall call him squishy, and he shall be my squishy!

  • Drain the oceans

  • Shat my pants at 6:40

  • u jelly?

  • The Office sent me here

  • in hk 2?

  • MUST ATOMICALLY BOMB OUR OCEANS

  • Screw jellyfish.

  • 3.Box jellyfish 2.botulinum 1.snookie's bikini sweat

  • Oh

    My

    Freaking

    God

I'm so scared to swim ANYWHERE now...I truly am. I don't wanna suffer the unthinkable pain of this cute tiny blob of jelly.... It's adorable and small, but so freaking DEADLY!!!! From what I hear, it's so painful!!! I'm scared... and I love the ocean and beach too....

  • oh believe me u dont wanna go in Australia... xD

  • Empirical scientist, no doubts!! hahahaha

  • "icy waters of Great Britain"

What ice would you be referring to?

  • @PressA2Die Well compared to the Australian waters, which it where you usually find these type of animals.

  • He went in that water to catch the jellyfish with only trucks, and stings himself and others for science. Now that is what I call a badass motherfucker

  • @Joecrackatoa check!

  • Comment removed

  • it's not them it us, we are human invate their home.

  • This is why sea turtles are so important!!! Sooner or later, we wont even be able to walk through shallow waters because of jellyfish and other deadly creatures.

  • I watched this documentary today on the National Geographic channel. Interesting documentary :)

  • Great way of figuring out if a tiny J-fish is dangerous!

  • @bongoklak0 wjnsawujnaswa

  • @ rachidvh Very true especially the asian drivers lol

  • "Now Son, don't touch that Jelly....!"

  • @Aspekitteh literally haha

  • Here son! Let me sting you.

  • You jelly?

  • Little shits.

  • OMFG, I was net fishing near my dads boat pontoon and i saw one like this, it was exactly the same, thats scary, as i was only a couple of inches away from the water and if I fell in I would of died, Im never going in the sea again! This in Europe of the coast of Sicily!

  • Comment removed

  • Those pools next to the ocean, that let the waves come in.

They have box jellyfish in them too, even sharks.

  • never gonna swim on sea again

  • Interesting but now I'm scared to go swimming in the ocean in the united states. I just thought they lived on the coasts of Australia. I'm also going to Florida in October. Hopefully I don't die from the jellies.

  • Damn Great Barrier Reef.....you scary!!

  • gotta love living in Australia :)

  • I LOVE the parts where Jack Barns hit his son and the lifeguard with the jelly xD

  • Everything can kill you in Australia..

  • @rachidvH even the people.

  • @rachidvH australia is the deadly beauty :/

  • @rachidvH even kangaroos, did you know?

  • @rachidvH Right on - I heard that one time, this dude was watching a documentary about Australia, and he died like an hour and a half later, all while sitting in his apartment in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

  • Irukandji is so jelly

  • im not going swimming ever again.

    but in the sea ofcourse

  • It's not it's fault it was born into that species.

It's still a living thing. They're just defending.

  • wasnt there something smaller than th ebox jelly but 100 times more potent?

  • @MrSyntheticDesign lol nvm it just got answered

  • fuckin scary dude.........no more sea for me....

  • so the doctor stung himself and his son what a dumbass

  • I was stung by this last year in austailia in like 2 ft water. dont go to austrailia because everything that moves there kills you. i nearly lost my life and now have alot of pain resistance and a huge scar across my arm.

  • @MetalDrums221

Were you not paying attention to the video? The Irukandji jellyfish is as small as your thumbnail, and the sting doesnt hurt at all, it's what comes afterward that is excruciating. You were probably stung by a larger and different kind of box jelly.

  • YESSS I HVE BEEN SEARCH FOR THESE FOR YEARS, I HEARD ABOUT THEM ON A TV SHOW WHEN I WAS 5 AND I FINALLY FIND THEM A GAIN i could never remember the name and im 14 now

  • Interessantíssimo, vou defender uma tese sobre ela na facul

  • That Jellyfish = what a bastard!

  • I kinda never wanna go in the ocean again.

  • Why son a wife too? Bitch.

  • id hate to be that dads kid lol

  • Why does everything in Australia want to kill you?

    Never. Swimming. Again.

  • some call spongbob jelly fishing is needed

  • NEVER piss on a jellyfish sting. Its a stupid movie myth, it doesnt help and some urine makes it worse. Use VINEGAR.

  • @clayton7m I pissed on my man o war sting. Shit worked.

  • Never going snorcling in Austria what's in the waters jellyfish jellyfish and guess what more jellyfish

  • The reenactment looks like a Monty Python sketch.

  • american natural history programs are a joke. dramatised scenes, cheap special effects, ridiculously overblown narration, very little actual information or content.

  • wheres spongebob?

  • stupid jellyfish I HATE 'EM!

  • Scary! :O ....Are they in California?

  • I love aussie, don't get me wrong. I won't EVER visit your beaches. I am terrified of Jellyfish. The sad thing is a gun or harpoon won't even help against those things :(.

  • @xxxxAXIxxxx KILL EM KILL EM WITH A POISEN! that wont effect humens or other animals on those things

  • So these are the Jellyfish spongebob catches....

  • this MUST be overexagerated -.- in the U.K?! no way they'd be comfortable up here

irakunji in the bath? never taking a bath again.

    RESULT!

  • Why is there always a comment about Chuck Norris in every video?

  • @Moneybags7777 Its because chuck norriss owns all the videos

  • who the hell snorkels with a shirt on?

  • You gon' hide yo kids, hide yo wife, 'cause they' pois'ning' eeerbody out there

  • Never going snorkling in Australia!

  • That is really scary

  • I get them where i live

  • Is it safe to say that this would be the most painful way to die besides getting set on fire?

  • @snorider Not even remotely close...Like I said the box jellyfish are OVERRATED!! Their are a good 20+ venomous snakes from Asia that are far more lethally venomous...and plenty that cause more painful envenomations than this jellyfish aswell

  • @yobro250 box jellyfish such as Chironex fleckeri can kill a untreated victim in under 3 mintues if the sting area is significant enough. they are also EXTREMELY painful

you don't know what your talking about

  • @boourns1000 No your full of shit

Yes it can on very rare occasions kill a untreated victim( only a child) in under 3 minutes...but WILL it? No!!! Most stings in adults barely even require hospitalization let alone death in under 3 minutes...It is not even close to be the "most venomous animal" like Australian idiots like to claim...For one their is no such thing as "most venomous animal"...That is dopey talk for idiots who don't understand biology...Only most venomous to a PARTICULAR ANIMAL.

  • @boourns1000 Yes it is very painful...But like I said their are quite a few snakes that cause more painful bites...and plenty of snakes that are much more lethally venomous to humans...

It is overrated like many other Australian venomous animals are

  • @yobro250 i don't see them or any other countries venomous creatures as being overhyped or overrated. any one of these can kill you if you don't get the proper medical treatment

  • @yobro250 Actually, if you read up on the most painful venoms you will consistently find this Irukandji if not on the top then near the top, alongside the usual other suspects like the stonefish and bullet ants.

perhaps not as lethal as some of the snakes. But pain-wise I don't think it's a contest.

  • @Devilsnightforlife Read up on? Lol oh you mean some random website that was made by a 7 year old....No I actullay look at studies on bites by venomous animals...and their are many snakes( particularly snakes from the viper sub family) that can cause much more painful bites..

Australian venomous animals are incredibly overhyped...Asian venomous snakes are the deadliest to humans.

  • It’s hard to believe but that is the most venomous creature on planet Earth.

  • @vsboy25 No their not...Not even close...Their are a good 20+ snakes in Asia alone that would be FAR more likely to cause death than this Jellyfish

  • @yobro250 name them then

  • i wish they were all gone!

  • i bet they're a deadly delicacy in some countries

  • At three years, Patrick Swayze and his brother played tag with them.

  • So in otherwords in 10 more years, were all going to die.

  • im gona call him squishy and he will be my com e here little squishy

  • most of the jellys picture here are not irukandji.

  • thank god we have pools now adays.

  • @goodlife6942 Keep your pool chlorinated, though. If you don't... bad things can breed there.

  • March 2002 Robert King is swimming and then Jaws comes dsvbhsebvsebsrbnr

  • Fuck this I'm never going into the sea again.

  • @tcla75 Don't worry. They're only on the north coast of Australia. Just like all the other most dangerous animals in the world. Not to mention there are some pretty dangerous animals in the middle. And there are a few dangerous species on the south coast too. Australia is a hell hole.

  • @tcla75 I just wouldnt got into the oceans off of northern Australia.

  • U cant live ur live afraid of the water. Because the chances of being stung in the 1000s or more miles of ocean r as small as the jellyfish itself.

  • another reason to swim in a pool rather than the beach

  • @enitsirhc0409 Yeah and while your at it you better stay inside and keep every window shut...... Please, statistically in first world countries just as many people are killed in pools. No reason to not get outside and swim in the ocean then in a chlorinated cesspit.

  • @enitsirhc0409 Saved the research for your - 64 deaths in the last 100 years from Box Jellyfish worldwide while in the USA alone there are 10 deaths a day from swimming pools.

  • I guess america is going to war on those as well

  • Damn nature, you scary!

  • I am going to south Thailand this summer holiday for swimming and diving. And I hope i don't meet any box shaped jellyfish there lol xD

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH LOL, i was like all scared and then at 6.47 lol hahahhaha changed my mood hahaha

  • ITS NOT A BOX JELLYFISH FUCK! Its another type durp!

  • fuck the ocean, what's wrong with pools?

  • wow who would sting themselves stupid stupid doctor if i would check if it would kill an animal first

  • Dont let Will Smith get a hold of that

  • Spongebob was here.

  • Comment removed

  • Typical American scaremongering FUD TV. No wonder Americans are scared all the time, obeying whatever is told to them.

  • Worst scientific hypothesis testing EVER.

These things give me the willies.

  • i was watching a thousand ways to die and this jellyfish came up when a lady swallowed it i paused the show now watching this awesome one

  • i hate jellyfishes

  • Irukandji Syndrome can be survived. The pioneering doctor knew this, no doubt, otherwise he probably wouldn't have intoxicated his Son.

Whatever his methods, the guy certainly proved his point no? :P

  • "2am, the Florida Keys, A U.S. Military combat diver on a routine training mission..."

Why dont they give the year? Makes me doubt it really happened.

What year did a swimming soldier get stung by something off the Keys and then got Irukandji syndrome? And why is the year left out of this video??? suspicous to me.

  • Is that real footage of the Dr. and his son and of the Dr. laying in bed, or is it a re-enactment? I would suggest maybe it is a re-enactment because i read someplace his son was only nine years old at the time and that "son" in the film appears to be much older, thus it must be a re-enactment.

    Does anyone know for sure?

  • GOD DAMN!!! for once im happy i live in the cold north!. we got no mofo's like that!. thank god

  • WTF its cute though!cute things dont hurt you!!

  • Chuck Norris eats them for breakfast with a little salt.

  • @averyaccordion so 4 years ago... it was funny then but not now!

  • @oddsource lol

  • @averyaccordion these chuck norris jokes are getting old stop using them ok?

  • @averyaccordion he also eats 2x4's and shits sawdust !!!!!!!!! ha ha......

  • @averyaccordion Chuck Norris doesn't eat them with salt...they ARE his salt

  • @flopsdawilly :) HEHE
