  • you know...

  • That is first time I hear little Stevie Vai being so naugthy and swearing like that.

  • If you don't like Steve Vai... 2:23

  • 2:18 to 2:29 I played over and over again until I got the Dream Theater Lie solo down. Lol

  • gud on you mr vai i know what u mean about practice,im quite demanding on myself as well . im at a stage with my playin that if i dont have my guitar with me or im not playin i have terrible withdrawl symtoms. i know this sounds crazy but i guess one needs to experience this to understand it. love ur playin hope to one day be just as proficient or even better with my own style. cheers jd......

  • 00:39 Fuck u bitches i am guitar god!!!!

    Woooooo go steve!

  • I see no guitars.

  • superlame background

  • hahaha 0.39 - 0.40

  • yeah just percussion or a 12 piece horn section, just something.

  • he has a long ass asshole finger

  • steve vai is a badass he is one with the guitar, watch the alien love secrets DVD using both camera angles you can see his hand movements mind blowing how smooth he is

  • Steve Vai + guitar = magic.

  • @thisischavez -- You are exactly right. Even hating him is idiotic. Watching Vai onstage, you can't tell where the instrument ends and the man begins. At any time one or the other could disappear and the music would go on. By the time one reaches this stage of mastery, playing is breathing. At that point criticism is simply ignorance of intent. Every once in awhile those who can are the targets of those who wish they could. That's life. One just moves beyond it.

  • jesus christ his fingers are humungous!

  • wow this guys sucks i hate him

  • @Marco81blues. You can hate him all you want, but saying he sucks is just moronic. That guy is simply one of the most talented rock guitarists that ever played the instrument.

  • @thisischavez WHAT?? you gotta be kiding me

  • @Marco81blues. Dude, you are obviously not a guitarist. And that's cool. We don't need to be musicians to have a valid opinion. But Steve Vai is universally recognized, outside of you of course, as being one of the most talented and respected rock guitarists in the past few decades. That's just a fact, my friend. If you don't enjoy his music, then so be it. But saying he sucks is just silly. Period.

  • @Marco81blues trololololol

  • Steve Vais bassist hates his life

  • Now somewhere there is another term for impossible in Urban Dictionary: Steve Vai

"He just pulled a Steve Vai on that Strat."

  • TSS1994, I too salute Steve. I am a Hendrix man through and through BUT like Hendrix, Steve is giving the inspiration in words and music for the next generation to pick up a guitar and take on the mantle of the guitar greats to push music and guitar even further. You can only praise any musician for doing just that. These are the people that inspire budding musicians to become the next big thing in the music world. Hats off!

  • @MrMoggyman

    Agreed

  • 00:39 for the 11 dislikes

  • I would like to thank Steve Vai for all the endless inspiration he has given me.

Basically all his interviews are all full of inspiration.

  • Did Bono just loose weight?

  • @gringodeltoro1 ??? lol

  • is he on the pot ? what a weirdo

  • @fasteddie925

Steve Vai would never ever take any drugs.... I bet if U bang him in the head with a hammer, he wouldn´t even take an Aspirin ! But U cant´stop wondering what kind of music he would be doing if he was high on weed ?!? ;)

  • WHOA, HE HAS ALIEN HANDS! 3:35

  • He reminds me of my old boss.

  • @DirtyDeck

I guess your old boss was awesome?

  • what a cunt

  • @joesatriani1200rulez your fucking stupid. if your a fan of the statch then you should know he taught steve vai for a bit and is good friends with him. why do you think he's a cunt? cause i think YOUR the one being a fucking cunt.

  • @TasteForDisaster lmao yeah i am and believe it or not im a fan of vai to, not a huge fan tho, i know joe taught steve but that dosent have to do with anything, i just dont like steve's attitude he's always been one of those people that says "look at me im god"

  • @joesatriani1200rulez not at all, well maybe, cause i'm not him. but it looks to me like it's mainly the people's fault for thinking like that. if you watched the vid of the tour of his equipment, you'd see that he's really kinda playful, and you can't really take him seriously. the fan he always uses, and all that crap. glowing guitars. he's good at his music. but he also obviously likes playing around with his image.

  • @TasteForDisaster i have seen it and yeah i do agree, but stil he does seem like it and yeah i do agree with you there

  • @joesatriani1200rulez He's hardly like that. He's a performer. I've read in interviews, that he has spent just as much time learning how to perform, as he has learning how to play guiitar, cause when he first started playing he was very shy and awkward. A lot of his success is due to his image, but what's wrong with that? He's contributed A LOT to the music community, and he is effectively a rockstar; anyone who's a rockstar can wear whatever they want.

  • @MrApocalyte then i must be exactly like steve then, that happenedd to me, yeah the image is everything but i never mentioned image.

  • @joesatriani1200rulez thats the exact opposite of his attitude if you knew what you were talking about...hes inspiring to the fullest extent

  • @skwizzgar mmhmm whatever you say, oh trust me i know what im talking about after 10 years of playing experience and also in the music industry ive met many people like him, as he said, "now im the asshole" which he is

  • damn...steve looks a lot like frank zappa. but twice better guitar player.

  • damn.... this guy is a genius ^^

  • When it came to mastering the guitar, Steve was his own Tiger Mom. Great creativity requires great discipline -practice - to dig it out into the light of day.

  • @rmsolympic1 haha,,,,,,,amy chua...eh...ya vai really was driven tho. really smart guy.practiced really smart.

  • VAI ....DAMN AWESOME GUITARIST BORN FOR PLAYING THE INSTRUMENT... just look at crossroads 1986!! vai u rule!!

  • 666 videos

    pretty metal

  • press 2 for a strange laugh

  • mister Ego thinks his music is so hard...i could name about 200 other artists that Vai could not come close. If this is hard listen to some Chick Corea

  • @AtanasovPeter

    do it. name 200.

or, better yet, make it a video.

    we're waiting.

  • @uninspiredml Chick Corea,Allan Holdsowrth,Frank Gambale,Steve Smith,Herbie Hancock,John Coltrane,Shawn Lane,Pat Metheny,Scot Henderson,Mike Stern,Dave Weckl,Virgil Donati,Derek Sherinnien,Victor Wooten,Buddy Rich,Charlie Parker,Miles Davis,Dennis Chambers,John Scofield,John Mclaughlin,AL Di meola,Paco De Lucia,Bireli Lagrene,Michael Brecker,George Benson,Stenley Clarke,Lenny White,John Patituci,George Duke and i can go on if you want.

  • @AtanasovPeter

yeah, keep going. but you said 200 artist that steve vai couldn't come close to. you should listen to his orchestral work before judging him so harshly. he knows his theory, and how to transpose properly.

  • @uninspiredml Transposing is one thing player over changes is another. And i have heard his Orchestral work plus all he released.Dude i have seen this guy noodle on 2 modes for 30 years.

  • @AtanasovPeter except that Vai wrote for an orchestra, not just guitar music, but for the complementary ensemble as well. That is incredibly difficult, especially getting each section to understand your musical vision in rehearsal.

  • @MapleLeafAce to understand your musical vision?you idiot every detail of the note can be written.and about several million people write for orchestra.Harmonicly speaking his music is primitive.

  • @AtanasovPeter well if you're just going to be a prick about it, I have nothing more to say to you.

  • @MapleLeafAce He is playing 2 modes for the last 30 years what do you want me to say?

  • @AtanasovPeter I think you didn't grasp the context in which Vai was explaining his music. It's not that he considered his music "hard" by any standards. It was getting people to play the way he wanted it which was so difficult. You can make any simple piece of music and say it's easy but if it's your creation, and you have your own interpretation of it, trying to get others into your "zone" is one heck of a challenge. It's the same for any player, musician, artist or songwriter.

  • true, he is like yoda. the force is strong with this one.

  • *prostrates self before Master Vai*

  • I've never found him arrogant at all, actually. Supremely confident, yes - and why wouldn't he be - but just very honest and genuine.

I always enjoy listening to his views on things. He's like my Yoda. Or something similar. :P

  • 0:39,press it many times

  • He doesn't come off as arrogant to me, but I will say he is a strange one. I think he spent more time practicing guitar than is healthy.

  • give me the finger hahahaha 00:39 ¡¡¡

  • He has earned the merit of offering his opinion with a certain nature of authority. He is one of the few players from the 80's that is still around producing music. If you think he takes himself too seriously, check out his video for the Jem Distortion Pedal. His head's not so swelled that he can't poke a bit of fun at himself.

  • @thielem your right he's not Frank Zappa ten times better transcribed his songs which kicked off his career and your right everyone doesn't have to like him but he gives them a great reason too...I see no arrogance in his stature whatsoever. Call him off putting but false accusation only turns on the accuser.

  • @kingofgrooveness

Read comments. I am not the only person here that has noted that he comes off as arrogant.

I have not and will not deny his talent. But I dont like him much based on what I have seen of him in interviews. I listen to his music and enjoy learning Vai parts. He is an incredible talent but, as I have said, I find him off putting. I dont think he is a horrible human being or anything like that. In life you you won't like everyone..that doesnt make those people bad.

  • middle finger...

  • minute 0:35 .i.

  • Steve is the man!

    Aside from John Sykes.

  • Vai comes off as a dick. Steve...you are not Frank Zappa. You will never be Frank Zappa.

His sort of arrogance is just vulgar.

  • @ThieleM pas d'accord avec vous.

  • @58fev

For sake of politeness lets stick to english ok?

You dont agree? That is fine but Vai is NOT Frank and never will be Frank. That isnt opinion that cites the law of identity which has nothing to do with opinion.

Also, please note that I am only one of many that finds his arrogance off-putting.

  • @ThieleM

    ^^ à bon entendeur salut

  • @ThieleM You're fucking retarded. ANYONE who has EVER worked with vai has noted how much character he possesses not only as a person, but as a guitarist. And any arrogance he supposedly exerts is well earned and certainly well justified.

  • @Anarchyffan

    Arrogance is never justified.

'how much character he possesses'...that doesnt mean that every one has to like that character. I find the guy off putting. He is super talented, has immense chops and is a huge influence on guitar....I would never deny that.

  • Steve swears at 0:39 .... Im telling mr music producer ...

  • he reminds me of an old italian women.... love you vai

  • 0:38 Dude thats hilarious! Whahaha

  • Does he honestly expect us to believe that he rehearsed an ensemble for 12-15 hours a day for 30 days without blowing out the instrumentalists' chops or unions freaking out?

  • Pushing body to skip meals and practice guitar endlessly since the 80's - Steve Vai

  • @williamindragunawan since the 70s more like.

  • @williamindragunawan yea these guys must not know what food is...there al sooo skinny...either that or there secretly rabbits in human form -_-

  • @williamindragunawan Try 70's, dude.

  • 2:17 - 2:30. Priceless.

  • vai sweared at the camera man at 0:36

  • i have a problem,i like his playing since flexable,he have all i wish as guitarplayer but more i see him talking more i think hes an idiot.

hes too concentrate on his clothes and on his money.

  • @MultiRiffer you are very right. that is a big problem, because the most of the people (talented or not) are stupid. in music, I preffer to not see much interviews or videoclips of the songs because the purity of the sound sometime is contaminated. some really good artist are really assholes. so..

  • Steve Vai is too awesome for oxygen.....

  • Always learning with Mr. Vai. Thanks.

  • He has the largest fingers I've ever saw!

  • Harsh fingered the camera at 0:40

  • 0:40

I have to say, this video made me lose a lot of respect for via.

I remember someone who knew him telling me that he was a really nice person.

  • @INGRAM0009 wow o.o he showed u the finger and now u lost respect for him? what the f**** r u sayin man, he's a very nice person, u dont lose respect for someone because of something so stupid.

by the way, u spelled hes name wrong :/

  • @bezoro2008 Well Mr Bezoro, you spelt 'his' wrong. it's 'his' not 'hes'.

    So there!!!

  • @INGRAM0009 at least hes and his souds the same, via and vai is... well, i think u got the picture :/

  • @bezoro2008 *sounds . . . lol

  • @bezoro2008 and *get

  • I wish Randy Rhoads and Dimebag Darrell were alive

  • @reallyguitarhero you sir are a genus they were the two best guitar players ever

  • @Angelrhoadsbanderas haha yes

  • he looks like snoop dogg

  • @GANGSTARG999 no he doesnt!

  • -Are you gonna get up or do anything? fuck you, you asshole.

There is steve vai's secret, talking to himself :)

  • Fock you! hahahaha

  • he sounds like he has colds

  • I've never heard Vai said "F**k"

  • @aznjt LIsten to "Fuck Yourself" on his Flexable album lol.

  • @aznjt He has a song called "F**k You" and it says it like every other word. Look it up, it's funny as hell.

  • To people who say that he is full of himself, he is not. He is a musician that knows exactly how good he is. Too many musicians these days have this hypocritical humility and are constantly searching for compliments. I much prefer an honest arrogance though he is not arrogant. hE just knows himself.

  • @YodaVanHalen He is :)

  • He looks like Michael Jackson xDD

  • Lol. This is the first time ive heard him speak, i never knew he was from New York.

  • Actually, holland is a province of the Netherlands, split in two: North & South Holland.

  • @brosaguitar Uhh, no. I live in The Netherlands. Holland is a nickname for The Netherlands. It's divided in 12 provinces.

  • @Obliviateable

I live in the netherlands too and am a history teacher ;-)

  • You're the best!

  • why did he do that on 0:40? btw that a finger!!! hahahaha

  • Steves good but he can be a ass hole

  • @SR5127CL why?

  • @318825768 Because hes flipping the Camra off and he knows it I mean with fingers that big how is he gonna hide it. Sorry for bad english im german

  • 0:40 wow fuck you to steve

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Stop on 0:40! lol

  • FIngering the camera 0:40 LOL. Steve Vai is the master of mystery.

  • Tender Surrender is one of my favorite songs of all time

  • this interview is epic :D

  • 2:18 - 2:29 is sooo funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im gay

  • @BMXcomedy WTF XDDD

  • @BMXcomedy if you're not sure just ask yourself : "do i love justin bieber?".

  • @BMXcomedy Enjoy!

  • hahahah

  • im older you become the harder it is to call your fingers

  • Steve Vai - awesome

Steve Vai flipping the camera off - 100X AWESOME

  • "...asshole." LOL!

  • I don't get half of this shit. Some of the noodling he doesn't inspire me to buy any of his music. Sorry, I don't get having fun with youself.

  • am i the only one who thinks hes alittle full of himself?

  • @ampedofficial He's allowed to be.

  • @ampedofficial I see his arrogance, and I would be too.Steve Vai is a virtuoso. He is good enough that he doesn't have look for a band, the band looks for him. Also there is a difference between someone that plays guitar, and someone that is a guitar player.Steve Vai IS a guitar player. Hell I'd be quite content to learn half of his passion and skill!! :- )

  • he flipped someone off. lol he's amazing like that

  • That flip off was definitely a bet between him and someone. why else would he do it?

  • @scorpia616 he does it all the time. I've seen it in multiple interviews.

  • @scorpia616 scratching his chin, lol

  • @scorpia616 Well, cause he is Steve Vai?

  • wtf i do the same i pay till i get something right i thought i was crazy

  • What a fuck'n tool. Nice glasses!

  • I saw him in Israel,he had a guitar clinic, besides being the best guitar player alive today he is such a nice guy.

  • Guy's hes not anorexic he's a vegetarian..

  • damn he has realllly long fingers

  • @halfacat1 thats what she said =D

  • Why is he flipping us off?

  • ....it was like...Christmas! LOL!! Man Mr. Vai you're funny. Eat a little something though ok?

  • y is Steve so goddamn anorexic? lol

  • @StadiumArcadium1234 Umm Steve is normal weight. The rest of us Americans are fat asses.

  • @RebelliousHutterite2

  • @StadiumArcadium1234 nope, he's not a fatass like the rest of the americans.-
