Actually, both of them are great. Hammer brought it to a different level, a rap level. But you have to give credit to Rick because he's the composer of it. If Rick hadn't written it Hammer couldn't have added his greatness to it. Hammer's use of the sample is a tribute to Rick James in the first place! Hammer brought it to a new younger generation who never new Rick James. I think Hammer also brought it out of Motown too, bringing it to a wider audience! It's all good!
