As for China being a superpower, it really depends on your definition of the term. If a 'superpower' is defined as being able to influence other countries politically, economically, and militarily, then China would definitely satisfy all 3 requirements. However if we consider living conditions, since you're so keen to point out the disparity between china, and us, then I guess China is not there yet.

Yes, we did make many mistakes, and our philosophy brought our country hatred and envy from every corner of the world, but it was only in the name of peace and liberty.
This is quite impressive, considering the fact that China achieved this in only 30 years. Of course the Chinese government is not perfect, but at least it can keep China stable and prosperous. Some people feel threatened by a powerful China, but guess what, a chaotic and unstable China (with millions of soldiers and nukes) would be a nightmare for its neighbours and the world.
@whateverrule For the goverment issue, I would say the highly concentrated power is much more effective and decisive than a multi-party democratic system in this stage of development, as long as it's wise enough. Just like you drive a car, you have to kick to the low gear to accelerate, which is violent and noisy and wastes more energy but provides a large torque.

As for China being a superpower, it really depends on your definition of the term. If a 'superpower' is defined as being able to influence other countries politically, economically, and militarily, then China would definitely satisfy all 3 requirements. However if we consider living conditions, since you're so keen to point out the disparity between china, and us, then I guess China is not there yet.

This is quite impressive, considering the fact that China achieved this in only 30 years. Of course the Chinese government is not perfect, but at least it can keep China stable and prosperous. Some people feel threatened by a powerful China, but guess what, a chaotic and unstable China (with millions of soldiers and nukes) would be a nightmare for its neighbours and the world.

Just like you drive a car, you have to kick to the low gear to accelerate, which is violent and noisy and wastes more energy but provides a large torque.
