I don't even think they are "songwriter" fans. I think they're fans of concepts and aesthetics. I definitely agree that once musicianship enters the picture they get scared. They said that the "modulations" on One Armed Bandit were "boring"....
Well they gave a 6.9 to One-Armed, if I'm not wrong, it could have been worse! I've seen many reviews much more terrible than this one on that site..like 1.3 or things like that. I really don't understand their rating system btw, it makes no sense to me :)
@nordestino Pitchfork are totally up the Animal Collective's arse and review anything they do as if it's the most important thing since sliced bread. While I do like Animal Collective, Jaga Jazzist can write better songs.

Pitchfork are songwriter fans.
AS soon as a band has a semblence of musicianship,they bag em a bit like all those image music sites magazines.

I don't even think they are "songwriter" fans. I think they're fans of concepts and aesthetics. I definitely agree that once musicianship enters the picture they get scared. They said that the "modulations" on One Armed Bandit were "boring"....

Well they gave a 6.9 to One-Armed, if I'm not wrong, it could have been worse! I've seen many reviews much more terrible than this one on that site..like 1.3 or things like that. I really don't understand their rating system btw, it makes no sense to me :)

@nordestino Pitchfork are totally up the Animal Collective's arse and review anything they do as if it's the most important thing since sliced bread. While I do like Animal Collective, Jaga Jazzist can write better songs.
