@farmer123ish theres...also known as lauders..or however you spell it..we didnt need people from out of town coming to the lake bed to find their treasures. people of lake delhi are extremely nice, but we didnt need the million gaukers who came to view the disaster on the lake bed looking for fun things to take home, thats why you saw the signs. Alot of land is leased and the farmer who owns that land put the signs out not the HOME owners themselves..get your facts together. please

The LDRA (lake delhi recreation association) PRIVATELY funds the DAM...to pay for all its up keep...to keep a recreational area alive to the PUBLIC! We have public boat ramps and 2 public beaches on the lake ALL free of Charge!!!! It is the LDRA that keeps the upkeep of the beaches and the dam so that any person can use it to their liking I wish people had their facts straight. How is a private funded dam bad for a people

How do you say Lake Delhi is private? Sure, residents may be partial owners of the damn; however, the lake is public, in that, anyone who wants to come and use the waters is welcomed. Because the waterway is public, recreational use of the lake is open to all.
Secondly, the reasoning behind the lake is to create an economic area for the local community. The lake increases property values, so the rest of the county has lower taxes. It also stimulates business.

Great video! As a member of an association similar to lake delhi in iowa as well. I feel for you guys. However If it was our lake's dam that broke i would give my property to one of those families downstream and move into a homeless shelter. I would probably be the only one here to do it. but i know what humility tastes like and even though i don't like it much it would be the right thing to do.
