The tune for Ode to Joy is from Beethoven's Symphony no. 9, movement 4. The words are from a poem by the German poet Schiller titled "An die Freude," meaning "To Joy."

Man, this brings back soooo many memories. In gr.3 (2003) I sang at the orchestra singing this in German! Holy crap I actually did that!!!
